Chapter 92: Chapter 92

Ava's POV

The doorbell rang and I went over to the door. "Hold on." I said as I approached closer to it.

I opened the door and I saw a boy about Lucas age. "Good afternoon ma'am is Lucas home?" He asked.

"Yeah sure. Come in." I said to him.

"Thank you." He said as he walked him. Lucas rarely brought anyone home and this particular boy I haven't seen in the house before.

"Lucas, you've got a visitor." I yelled from the bottom of the stairs too lazy to mount up.

He walked down the stairs and acknowledged the boy. "Oh, Jeff. Didn't expect you to find the house so quickly." Lucas said to him.

"It's the only house that fits the description you gave on the block." Jeff replied.

I gave a slight cough. "Ahem." I said staring at Lucas.

He got the sign and apologized. "I'm sorry mom. Jeff this is my mom. Mom, this is Jeff my classmate. We have a project to finish before we graduate." He explained.

"Oh," I said with understanding. "You're welcome Jeff." I said to him.

"Thank you ma'am." He said with a smile.

"Well then,I'll leave you both to whatever project you wanna do. So,off you go." I said.

"Cmon." Lucas said to him.

"Your mom is so young. Are you sure she's your mom?" Jeff asked slowly but loud enough for me to hear him.

"She's my mom." Lucas replied firmly as he mounted up the stairs.

"Really? She looks sixteen. Damn she's one hot lady." Jeff said at the top of the stairs.

"Not cool, Jeff. This is why I don't like having most of ya'll in the house. You keep making passes about my mom." Lucas said reprimanding him.

I chuckled. I was used to his classmates making remarks about me. Sweet and nice remarks though. Camila was up in her room buried in office work. It was a Saturday but was still like a workday for her despite not in the office. Luna was having a quiet time with the twins. The trios seems to always want to hangout together.

I returned back to my seat to continue my work on the laptop when the doorbell rang. "Let me guess, another classmate?" I said to myself. I walked towards the door and opened it.

"Good day ma'am. Are you Mrs Ava White Nicholas?" A nice smiling face wearing a mail uniform asked. I felt a tiny pierce in my heart as I nodded. Was I still Ava Nicholas?

"This mail is for you. I was asked to deliver it to you personally." He said handing over the mail to me.

"Thank you very much." I said as I collected the mail from him. I walked back into the house as I closed the door.

I knew immediately who the letter was from. "Camila!" I yelled for her as I tore open the letter. She walked down the stairs. "What's going on?" She asked.

"Robin's letter is here." I said to her and she rushed towards me and together we read.

"Dear Ava, it's been five years and how glad I am that I could hear from you again. I cannot begin to understand the pain y'all have been through in a foreign land but I'm glad that y'all overcame and are doing fine. I am still baffled by the attack that night. I had walked in to an empty and scattered apartment with two dead bodies that night and I had been shocked and scared till I saw your note. I'm indeed excited that you finally saw it deem fit to write to me after these long years. Tell Camila that these years without her have been torturous for me or better still I'll tell her myself. I have so many things to say to her,I really do."

I saw Camila's eyes lit and a smile tugged at the corners of her lips. I could tell she was happy.

"I've not seen Anna for three years now since Skye threw her out of the pack because of Natasha. A lot has happened since you left, Ava and your mother innocence has not been proven yet. That was what landed Anna in trouble and Natasha found a way to get rid of her. I'm going to give orders to the post office that this letter should be given directly to you. I do not want to take chances. I've also attached a number you can use to contact me. I've missed y'all so much. Send my biggest hugs to the kids. Robin."

"I can't believe Anna is no longer at the pack house." I said in dismay.

"I wonder where she could be." Camila said too. I dialled the number Robin wrote down and waited for his response.

"Hello," his voice came in after the third ring.

"Robin, is that you?" I asked just to be sure.

"Yeah, it's Robin. Who am I speaking with?" He asked.

I sighed as a cool relief wash over me. "It's Ava Robin, it's Ava " I said trying not shed tears of joy.

He was over joyous on the phone and ecstatic. "It's been so long. I still can't believe five years have past and I'm just hearing from you." He said.

"Life got the better part of us Robin. How's my pack? Have you heard from them?" I asked.

He sighed. "There's no much news about the crescents, Ava but I'll do some findings out for you." He said.

"Thank you Robin. And Anna?" I asked.

"I believe she had some clues concerning your mother and the accusations but I never got to find out as Natasha and Skye threw her out when I was away." He said to me. How would I discover the truth now? Where would I start looking for Anna? I wondered.

"And Skye?" I asked him as I felt my heart in my throat.

"Believe me Ava,I can't answer to that. I do not want to inflict any pain you've been trying to heal from over the years." He said.

"I understand Robin." I said knowing he was trying to protect my interest. Could it be what he didn't want to tell me was Skye married Natasha?

"Can I speak with Camila?" He asked and I handed the phone over to her and walked towards the kitchen. I poured myself a glass of water as I tried to steady my shaky hands. I haven't even seen him and yet I was this jittery. What if I saw him? Would I collapse? Get a grip of yourself, Ava. I said to myself.

He still had no memories of us and that wasn't his fault but mine. I did it for a good cause. Right? I asked myself doubting if what I did five years ago was right.

"Are you fine?"

I heard Camila's voice behind me. I held the kitchen sink to stable myself as I nodded. "I'm fine. I'm just.." I began and trailed off.

"The memories are reeling in." She said and I slowly nodded and tried not to cry.

"I know it's not easy to forget. It's never easy." She said to me as she placed her hands on my shoulder. "Robin wants to know when we'll be coming back." She said.

I raised my head and furrowed my brows. "Coming back? We have normal lives here where the kids don't have to worry if there's going to be one accursed war or worry about their safety." I said firmly despite the previous tears that shimmered in my eyes.

She nodded. "Yes we do. But what about their transformation? Was Luna experience not bad enough? Her screams and howls were so terrifying that the neighbours had to call the cops."

"Luckily for us, she ran into the woods before they came." I said turning my attention to the dishes in the sink.

"Yes lucky for us. What if we're not that lucky next time? What if the neighbours find out about our secrets?" She questioned me.

"That wouldn't happen." I said despite the fact that I was worried about it.

"The thing is,you're just so scared to face your fears. Too afraid to face what's eating you up." She said. I turned to stare at her. "You know I'm right." She said.

"Then tell me what's eating me up, Camila? What am I so scared to face?" I asked her.

"Skye." She said and I stood there frozen at the spot just staring at her.
