Chapter 76: Chapter 76
Ava's POV
Despite his injured arm, he dragged me up the stairs bidding everyone goodnight.
"Someone save me from this madman," I said and saw uncle step forward but Robin held him back shaking his head.
He flung me inside the room and he slammed the door hard. I flared. "I just saved your fucking life and this is what you repay me with?" I demanded in anger.
"I've warned you never to use that word on me and this is the last warning." He said sternly.
"Right now I do not care what word I'll use on you that will get you pissed. You should be grateful I came out there to save you." I said still angry.
"Have you even heard me out yet?" He demanded.
"I already know you want to scold me," I said staring at him.
He shook his head. "I know why you did so but the image is registered in my head." He said.
"Unregister it. You do not know how my skin crawled when that dirty pig laid his hands on me." I said in irritation.
He walked closer to me and I backed away. "Don't come any closed to me," I warned. For the first time, he listened to me and stayed where he was. "I was angry the spineless peacock had his hands on you but I understand why you did so. I'm not that upset with you." He said.
I turned back to him. "You should have told me about his letters," I said to him.
"I was afraid of this and feared for the baby too." He said with pain in his eyes.
"I really don't want to lose either of you." He said.
"Do you really see me as a weakling?" I questioned. He moved closer and I did nothing to stop him. "You're the strongest woman I know." He said as he held me. "But I want you to always trust me." He said.
"I want you to trust me too," I said looking into his eyes and I placed my hand on his arm and he hissed in pain.
"Your arm," I said recalling he had an injury when I saw him.
"I'll be fine," he said and pulled from me walking towards the door. "I just need," he began but ended up collapsing on the floor. I rushed towards him. "Skye!" I called out to him in frantic desperation but his eyes were half closed.
Skye's POV
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Walter hovering over me. His image was blurry and I could hear voices too. From the sunlight in the room, I believed it was morning already. Walter's image became clearer. "You're awake alpha Skye." He said and all I did was grunt.
I heard the door opening. "Here it is." I heard Ava's voice.
"He's awake," Walter said as he took something from Ava's hands. She rushed to my side and held my hand. "You're finally awake. You had me worried." She said. My heart fluttered at her words. Was she finally developing feelings for me?
"Believe me, love, I'm not leaving you anytime soon," I said and tried to sit up.
"Take it easy alpha," Walter said as I lifted my arm and grimaced. A bandage was wrapped around my arm. "He's very lucky the arrow didn't pierce in too deep," Walter said to Robin.
"He'd be fine right?" Robin asked and Walter nodded. "All he needs is a regular dressing of his injury and the medications, plenty of rest and he'd be fine." He said.
"Thank you so much, Walter," Ava said and he slightly bowed. "It's a pleasure to be at service in the pack house," he said. "I'd be on my way now." He said and Robin walked him out of the room.
Phil turned to me. "I trust Ava can handle things from here." He said and I nodded. "I'll be off to the pack house," he said and turned away then paused and looked back at me. "Quick recovery Skye." He said and I gave him a nod of 'thank you' and he left.
Ava stood up. "I'll go get you something to eat." She said and with my free hand, I pulled her back. "You heard Walter, you need to eat, take your medications and have plenty of rest." She said to me but I ignored her.
"You were really worried about me uh?" I asked her, trying to pry out her feelings for me.
"Yes, Skye. You collapsed on me and I had to call the doctor on time." She said.
"Is that how much you care for me?" I asked her, looking past her clothes and into her soul. She leaned closer to me and I thought she wanted to kiss me, but then she thumped my head with her fingers hard. "Ouch!" I groaned as I let go of her hand.
"I believe now you'd let me do what I'm supposed to do." She said to me smirking.
"That was cruel," I said to her in a pouting way and she laughed. "You look like a boy whose sweet was taken away from him when you do that." She said still laughing as she walked out of the door.
I chuckled. Her silence made me feel at peace. Maybe it was better for me not to know about it yet. I do not want anything to break my heart more. She returned with a bowl of broth and I stared at her. "You expect me to eat that?" I asked her. I hated broth right from childhood.
"Walter said broth and soup will make you heal faster." She said as she drew a chair closer to me.
"And I say they won't. Get me something spicier." I said and she shook her head. "Don't be stubborn now, you have to eat this. I can't be worried about your health and mine at the same time." She said.
I raised a brow. "What happened to your health?" I asked her. She shrugged. "It's nothing. Walter only said I needed rest." She said.
I placed my head on the bed rest and closed my eyes. She was really stressing herself and this was what I warned her about. I opened my eyes. "I'll take the broth on the account that you make me a promise. You'll take all the rest you need and not worry about me." I said to her and she nodded with a small smile.
Little by little, she fed me with the broth. My eyes always met hers and she shyly looked away. I smiled to myself despite the pain my arm was creating.

Ava's POV
I walked out of the room, down the stairs, and out of the pack house. Skye had finally fallen asleep after much persuasion. He insisted I stayed by his side which I did till he closed his eyes in slumber.
I sat on the terrace of the pack house and Luna ran towards me. "Hey, love," I said to her as she ran into my embrace, her face buried in my bosom. "I heard alpha Skye is sick." She said. "Is he going to be alright?" She asked.
I lifted her face and saw her eyes shimmering in tears. "Don't cry. Your alpha is doing very fine my dear. He just needs rest." I said and she nodded and placed her head on my chest again. I felt pains in my lower abdomen and I recalled what Walter told me. He told me I was stressed out and needed rest. More stress on the babies would lead to complications at birth. I sighed. I should have listened to Skye's words. I didn't want to put my babies at risk because of my selfish desire.
Anna, Camila, and Ria emerged from the woods. "Good day alpha." They said in unison. "A good day to you too. What were y'all doing in the neck of the woods?" I asked.
"Watching Anna display her powers," Camila said. I stared at Anna, she was looking paler than usual. "You're alright uh?" I asked her.
She nodded, changing her gloomy expression, and put on a bright smile. "I'm fine my queen." She said.
"Alpha," Luna began as she raised her head. "Is it teatime?" She asked me with big brown wide eyes. I chuckled as I pulled her cheeks.
"I believe Ria can sneak you a piece of lemon cake before teatime," I said to her and she smiled in glee.
"C'mon let's go, Luna," Ria said reaching for her and she placed her little hand in Ria's and followed her.
"Your baby bump is getting bigger by the day," Camila said and I gave a small smile.
"You should be eating a lot you know. A lot of fruits and veggies." Anna suggested.
I sighed. "I know. I just don't have the appetite for food these days." I said.
"C'mon, let's go in and I'll make you a tasty fruit salad," Camila said with a smile.
"After you my queen," Anna said humorously and I chuckled and walked into the pack house, both of them right behind me.
