Ava's POV

The dress Skye had sent and laid out for me was breathtaking. As usual, he had a huge sense of style. It was a floral white dress with embroidered design around the hem of the dress and sleeves. The dress exposed my bare back despite having a button at the nape of my neck.

I wore the dress and it made me remember my mother in her ever flowing white dress. I smiled at my reflection. My hair was made in a bun and the rest of it dropped behind my back and imbedded with hydrangeas. With my white hair and white dress, I looked like an angel from above.

I looked back at Anna and Camila. "How do I look?" I asked and their eyes watered as Camila wiped off an imaginary tear from her eyes.

"You're Aphrodite reborn." She said.

"I'm speechless," Anna said and I smiled at both of them.

"Then, I'm ready to grace this great ball of alphas," I said with a nervous chuckle.

I walked down the stairs with both of them behind me and Skye was standing at the foot of the stairs. His gaze fell on me and his eyes were full of appraisal. I inhaled as I walked closer to him. He stretched forth his hand and I placed mine in his as he placed a kiss on it. "You're breathtaking." He said and warmth crept inside of me.

He pulled me closer to himself as he whispered in my ear. "You're so beautiful. I'm having a rethink. I just want to head upstairs with you right now and forget about the ball." He said softly in my ear which sent pleasant shivers down my spine.

I chuckled. "You're never gonna stop being a pervert," I said.

He placed a kiss on my earlobe as he chuckled. "Shall we?" He asked as he pulled from me. I nodded. "Yes, we shall," I said as I slipped my arms into his.

"Thank you, ladies." He said to Anna and Camila as he led me towards the door.

"You're indeed welcome alpha." They chorused and I gave them a little wave before we left.

We arrived at the ball and Skye entwined his arms with mine. "Stay with me at all times. I do not want another man having his eyes on my woman." He said. I feigned annoyance. "You're being too possessive even in public," I said.

"I'm only protecting what's mine." He said as we stepped into the house.

The hall was wide, spacious, and filled with lots of English men and women. As soon as we stepped in, the announcer's voice rang through the hall.

"Alpha Skye Nicholas and his wife, Lady Ava Nicholas of the blood moon pack." He announced and all eyes were fixed on us.

I had to have a smile plastered on my face despite my nervousness. Some faces were friendly but others weren't and they were mostly from the ladies in the hall. They stared at me in envy and scorn. I had a feeling it had to do with Skye.

He was already quite familiar with such occasions as he mingled with ease in the crowd. "Some people here are just humans Skye," I said to him.

He nodded. "Yes. These are human mates to some alphas or just lovers." He said and I nodded in understanding.

I noticed a few people I met during the night of alphas and it was easy to say hello to them.

"Alpha Skye, your wife glows every day. Tell me, what secret it is." Alpha Scott, who I had remembered as the man that tried to woo me during the night of alphas said.

Skye smiled. "The secret is me, Scott." He said. They always called his name with respect but he rarely did. I raised a brow at him. Did he really think he was the reason I was glowing? Or has he forgotten I am pregnant?

Greetings were said to everyone I knew and didn't know. I was already tired of it. He read my mind and led me to a seat reserved for us and I sat down. He placed a kiss on my forehead. "Stay here." He said. I nodded. I didn't even want to move.

A few minutes after he left, two ladies walked up to me. One had the smell of a wolf and the other, a plain human.

"You're his new toy uh?" The plain human said.

"He's going to just use you and dump you." The one with the wolf scent said.

I stared at the two bittered ladies in front of me. "Excuse me?" I said puzzled.

"You heard us. He's a jerk." The plain human said.

"A total player." The other said.

I raised my brows at them. Now I understood why they were here. They were obviously bittered past escapades of Skye.

I leaned back in my seat ignoring them. "Are you not listening?" She asked.

"No," I said giving them a hard glare. "As a matter of fact, I do not care about your previous experiences with my husband. After all, you were all sex tools to satisfy his cravings." I said.

"You little swine," the human said raising her hand to attack me and a hand held hers. I looked behind me and there was Skye.

By now, the attention of everyone was on us. Skye gave her a deadly look and I placed my hand on his arm. He dropped her hand and smiled. "Nice to see you again Lucia." He said to the human. "And you Hadley." He said to the wolf lady. "It's never a pleasure to see you, Skye." They both huffed and walked away.

Skye turned to the people. "There's nothing to worry about here. Let the night go on." He said and the orchestras resumed playing. I stared hard at Skye. "You need to inform me beforehand whenever I'll be gracing an occasion that I'll get to meet your exes," I said to him and he gave a light chuckle.

"What's so funny?" I asked him.

"How your cheeks are so red when you get angry." He said.

I stared at him and turned to walk away but he held me back. "Do not let them ruin this night for us, love." He said with a pleading look in his eyes. I exhaled as I stared at him. He was right. I was trying to figure out my emotions and I hoped tonight would be the night.

He lowered himself as he stretched forth his hand. "Shall I have a dance, my lady?" He asked gracefully and I placed my hand in his and he enclosed it and led me to the dancefloor.

The Spanish song El Prado filled the hall as the orchestra played to every tune. Skye placed his arm around my waist and my hands rested on his shoulder as we danced slowly. "Don't think I won't ask you about those ladies," I said to him and he gave

a light chuckle. "I have a belief you know already." He said to me. "Why wanna break your heart the more?" He asked.

"I still wanna know," I said.

"Lucia is a human I had an affair with who knew about the existence of wolves and Hadley also is a woman I had an affair with from another pack." He said.

"Did you also take them on occasions like this?" I asked him.

"You look exceptionally beautiful tonight." He said changing the topic. I decided to go with the flow and ask him later. "Thank you," I said as gave me a little spin and my back fell against him. "I'm trying to control the burning desire I have to take you right now on this floor." He said and I swallowed as I felt a passion burning in me too. "You pervert. I'm pregnant you know." I said.

He turned me again and I faced him, this time, my body pressed on his. He whispered in my ear. "You're breathtaking anytime love. It's funny how you're pregnant and I still want you." He said as his fingers trailed my bare back and the fire he had masterfully lit inside of me ignited.

The music stopped and a faster one was played. I excused myself and went to the balcony. I inhaled the night air and tried to cool my nerves. I felt hands slip around me and I knew he was the one. He entwined his fingers in mine and I turned to look at him. Here I was thinking I would understand my feelings tonight but I didn't.

I was attracted to him but I had no idea if I was in love with him.

"Let's go home." He said sensuously I knew what he wanted and I wanted it too.

The ride home was long and when we finally got inside the pack house and into the room, he wasted no time yanking the dress off my body and devouring me. He possessed me, my body and soul making me understand I belonged to him as I moaned his name out loud and I unconsciously agreed I was his.
