Chapter 42: Chapter 42

Ava's POV

The sun rays filtered into the room resting on my face and I forced my eyes open. I got up to a sitting position on the bed and noticed Skye was not beside me. I recalled last night and I slapped my forehead. How foolish of me! I went into the bathroom to wash up.

A little while longer after coming out of the bathroom, I saw Camila in the room. "Good morning sister," she said.

"Morning Cami, what brings you very early to my room?" I asked her.

"The alpha wants you downstairs." She said.

"Seems you're now the alpha's spokesman." I teased her.

She smiled. "I happened to be downstairs when he sent for you. My loyalty is to you always my queen."

I chuckled."I know Cami, what's happening downstairs?" I asked.

"The alpha is addressing the pack and wants you there." She said and I nodded. "I'll be down in a few minutes," I said and she nodded and walked away.

I went down the stairs and saw him speaking to them. I heard one of the pack members say. "How can we treat her as queen when she fights one of us?"

"That was..." Skye began and I interrupted him. "That was as a result of insubordination and whoever tries to act in that accordance again will be treated that way," I said in defiance. From the corners of my eyes, I could see Skye smirking.

"You gave us a queen to murder us." One said.

"What to expect from a crescent wolf." Another said.

"Need I remind you that I said any insubordination will not be tolerated and if such an act is performed, it would result in discipline," I said and they murmured.

"Enough." Skye's voice thundered and everyone fell silent.

"As much as she's a crescent wolf which is to your disliking, she's still my wife and the queen of this pack. Every atom of respect should be given to her and any form of disrespect this time around will have grave consequences. Are we clear on that?" He said.

"Yes." They said in unison. They respected their alpha a lot, maybe because he commanded respect and did deserve it. They always try to please him when it came to my issue despite their dislike for me. "Natasha," Skye called out and she walked sensually towards him. "Apologize to Terra for your rude behavior." He said.

She stared at him in horror. "What? You don't expect me to apologize to a crescent. I will.."

"Apologize now." He interrupted her.

"Skye.." She began but he gave her a murderous look.

"Sorry," she mouthed. I smirked. "I can't hear you," I said to her.

"Sorry." She said staring hard at me.

"Forgiven," I said and looked away knowing full well I won't be at peace till I ask sure she wasn't sharing Skye with me. What was wrong with me?

The meeting was over and they dispersed. "They are always on my neck," I said.

"Your pack will do the same if I was in their zone." He said. He was right. Which makes me wonder how I could unite such great enemies. I wondered what plans he had for Fernandez.

"Ava," he called softly. I knew what the conversation was going to be about so I excused myself. I wasn't ready to face him. I felt so abashed by my words from the previous night.

Skye's POV

Should I say I felt relieved she didn't talk about last night or should I be worried? What if she was angry at me? I watch her walk out of the house probably heading towards the lake where she always seems to go.

Natasha approached me. "You asked me to beg the crescent in front of the whole pack? How could you let me stop so low?" She asked bitterly.

I turned to her. "That was a silly mistake you made that I would not condone. You stooped low the moment you started taunting Ava with our previous affairs. I did not tell you to go about harassing her Nat, she's my wife for crying out loud." I said to her.

"You don't know how I feel about this. You just don't care about my feelings. I went away for a few days thinking you'd miss my presence and call me back but you didn't." She said.

"No one sent you away Nat, this is your home," I said.

She moved towards me. "I just can't accept that you left me for her. It hurts so much, after all the years we've been together." She said sounding hurt.

"You think I don't feel bad about this too? Is that how inhumane you think I am? We have no idea what is in store for us, things happen."

She disagreed with me. "Things don't just happen, you make them happen. You can call this marriage off and be with me." She said placing her hand on my chest. I've told her before I wasn't in love with her but I didn't want to repeat it and shattered her more neither did I want to keep her hopes up.

"I'm sorry Nat," I said apologetically for what I was doing to her and walked away. Things between us weren't the same way. Someone else was occupying my heart.

Natasha's POV

I watched him walk away in those long strides of his. Skye never refuses me but things have changed since he met that good for nothing. I couldn't sit and watch her take away the person I've loved my whole life. Yes, I've cheated on him twice and he had forgiven me and never held it as a grudge against me. We both have cheated so that wasn't a reason why he didn't want me any longer.

I walked out of the house walking towards the direction of the lake. Maybe I needed to befriend her and then at the right time strike. Ava won't know what hit her. I shivered in disgust. Just the thought of her disgusted me.

I saw her almost close to the lake, it was icy due to the climate season. "Ava," I called up to her and she gave me one look and ignored me. Fool. I thought to myself.

"Wait up." To get what I wanted, I needed to be calm.

"What do you want from me, Natasha?" She asked me. I liked the way my name rolled off her tongue. Was that why Skye liked her? Her accent?

"There's no need to be hostile, I'm just here to talk," I said feigning a smile and she stared at me.
