Chapter 22: Chapter 22

Ava's POV

The meeting with the elders was over and I turned to Uncle Phil.

"Why didn't you tell me you had a mate?" I asked and he shrugged.

"I didn't see a need to. I was trying to move on." was his response.

"I can recall very well I asked you if you had witnessed the massacre caused by the demon king before and you told me no," I said staring at him.

"I didn't want to recall that gruesome moment. Not only Julia was murdered that day. We had lived in fear. Just us crescents having two powerful enemies. How we've managed to be alive and not wiped out of the face of the earth is still a mystery." Uncle said.

"This will all be over soon. Please uncle let the message be passed across the whole pack in and outside." I said and he nodded and walked away.

I was walking towards the part of the forest where the woods were cut down when I saw Fernandez.

Fernandez raged in anger. I've seen him angry a couple of times but definitely not this way. He was bloody hell furious.

"How could you decide on that? How could you?!" he yelled at me.

I knew what he was talking about. He had been angry since the meeting.

"It's the prophecy. For the safety of the pack, I had no other option." I said to him.

"You had other options, Ava. You chose this one because of your selfish desires!" he yelled.

"What selfish desires Fern? I'm doing this to protect us all." I said trying to make him understand but he would not.

"Damn the prophecy! Damn the pack! Damn you, Ava, Damn you!" he yelled bitterly.

"We just renewed our friendship Fernandez, it would not be nice if we go back to the lane we just came out from," I said calmly.

He walked closer to me. "You know what? Damn this friendship, to hell with it!" he said and turned from me walking away.

"Fern," I called after him but he wouldn't listen. "Fern, you can't do this," I said and he stopped in his tracks.

"I just did. Watch me break the last bond of our friendship," he said and I stared at him in shock as he cut off the bracelet I made for him as a sign of our friendship." We're done." he said and walked away.

He just broke our friendship because of Skye. Why was he so mad when it came to him? I wondered. I stared at his retreating figure for a while before walking toward the scattered beads on the ground and picking them up.

"I see your people are not joyous like mine about this wedding."

I turned immediately to find Skye leaning his tall frame on a tree.

"Not the time Skye," I said.

"Touche, you've lost a friend because of me," he said with an annoying smirk on his face.

"I feel like shoving a pile of dung into that big mouth of yours," I said through gritted teeth.

He laughed as he straightened himself up from the tree. "I believe you're capable of such an act, my love," he said still smirking as he walked closer to me.

I frowned at him. "Who let you in here?" I asked him.

"Your pack of course. They had no choice. Just so you know, I'll be welcomed in here anytime pleasantly or unpleasantly as long as I'm your," he paused as he got close to me. "What's the right word?" he smirked and added smugly. "Husband to be," he said.

"Need I remind you that this 'wedding'," I emphasized on it in disgust. "It is to protect myself and my pack," I said and he grinned.

"It is a win win for us then. For you, this wedding is for the safety of you and your pack, and for me, the same thing with a little twist," he said and pulled me into his arms. I gasped due to the sudden closeness as I gazed at him.

"And what would that be?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I get to make you mine," he said in a low growl that sent shivers down my spine in a pleasant way. His wolf took control of him and how much I loved those red eyes of his.

"I'll rather choke on dung than let that happen." I hissed out.

He chuckled. "I have other ways of making you choke rather on that if you'd like," he said in a seductive tone.

I stared at him unable to comprehend his words until it hits me.

"You disgusting pervert!" I yelled struggling in his arms. He laughed but won't let go.

Someone coughed. "That's enough." I heard uncle's voice. Skye let go of me and I looked away in embarrassment. I looked anywhere but my uncle's face.

"So glad you're here Phil," Skye said walking towards him. "I was hoping we'd meet and discuss the wedding arrangements," Skye said humorously but uncle's expression was hard as a rock.

"In the arms of my niece?" uncle questioned.

"We were having our own discussion," Skye answered back.

"You're quite enthusiastic for a blood moon about to wed a crescent," Uncle said staring at him in disapproval.

Skye smiled the more. "Who wouldn't be," he said dropping beside uncle. In a low voice, he said. "I mean look at her," he said looking at me intently as his eyes traveled down the length of my body. I frowned at his perverted attitude, jerk.

"That's my niece Skye. If at all one hair on her skin is touched by you or your pack, I don't care how mighty you are, I'll have the whole of Britain after you." uncle said with his tone underlying threats.

"Be rest assured Phil that she's under my protection now and with what I saw going on between her and a member of your pack, if she's hurt by anyone of you, I won't hesitate to make heads roll." he equally said in a low menacing tone underlying that same threat.

It got me shaken up a little and also feeling protected by these two men. One whom I have known all my life and who raised me while I was still a child and one who was about to come into my life. To bring peace or cause havoc?
