Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Ava's POV

The mid noon rays filtered through the narrow lines of the shabby cabin I was in. My punishment was not quite as grave as I expected it to be. I was locked up in a dark cabin since yesterday to atone for my mistakes, not to be served meals, and was to be released by tomorrow.

I was also to apologize to Lucia for my crude behavior and then address the pack. I shrugged, it wasn't something I couldn't handle. I found myself thinking of Skye again just like I did last night. Last night, I had kept tossing on the bare ground and having different nightmares of Skye and what he was probably doing.

The dreams were delirious that I couldn't pick out what they meant and this noon, he was in my mind again and how I hated it. It was ill for me to think of an enemy. An enemy who is the son of the man who murdered my mother in my presence. I couldn't forget that day and I shouldn't either.

I lay on the bare cold ground like a prisoner and I felt something cold slithering beside me. I turned cold and waited. The cold creeper crawled up my neck over to my head. My heart was in my throat as I felt my blood run cold. It slithered to my face and that was when I reacted. It was a black mamba and it had its mouth opened and ready to bury its fangs in my face.

I grabbed its tail and sent it flying to the other side of the cabin. I stood up and backed away from the poisonous serpent but the serpent won't relent. There was no guard on ground so I couldn't call for help. Even though I could, I wouldn't be let out till the next morning as the punishment was. The snake advanced towards me as I tried every possible way to avoid its venomous fangs. At long last, after turning around in circles and avoiding this slithering demon, I finally got hold of its neck as it wriggled and writhed its cold and slippery body in my enclosed hand.

I wanted to tear it apart with my bare hands but I couldn't. Its dark and concealed eyes were staring at me and wouldn't let me. In a sudden moment, it stopped wriggling and stayed still, probably staring at me. I didn't know why I felt something in my heart for this snake that had tried to take my life. I couldn't bring myself to kill it so I released my hold on its neck and it dropped to the ground with a thud. It turned to slither away but had a second thought, it turned back immediately to strike and I narrowly escaped its fangs. I lifted up my boot and stepped on its head as I took out the knife strapped at the side of my waistline and slit the mother fucking neck of the slippery serpent and the connection I felt broke immediately. I heaved as I placed my back on the cabin walls. Strange. I thought.

Skye's POV

The seer El Ontario called for walked through the door. She looked a bit old and her black hair had lots of streaks of gray. She smiled revealing two missing teeth. "My alpha," she said with her toothless smile. "Welcome, Mariya." El Ontario said smiling in return.

She smiled again, which turned out to be a habit of hers. "Thank you," she said sitting down. "The alpha said it is urgent and I came running," she said still smiling. Her smiles give me eerie feelings, maybe it was because she had lost her front teeth. "My friend here," El Ontario said gesturing to me. "Came up with a condition about my request. I want to see Mariya if it's a good idea to accept his condition." He said.

"Hmm," she said nodding. "Sure, sure," she said as she stretched her hands forth. "Place your hands in mine," she said and he did so. She gestured to me and reluctantly, I placed my hand on hers. She held our hands tightly and murmured. It felt like she was connecting to our souls.

Then she stopped and let go of his hand and mine. She smiled. "It's favorable for the pack alpha. It's a good cause to form an alliance with the blood moon pack," she said.

I stared at her leaving a hint of surprise on my face. No one told her I was a blood moon, crap! no one told her the alliance was the condition. I didn't know why I was surprised, I mean, this was the supernatural world, if we wolves existed, then anything else could.

"Thank you, Mariya. It's settled then," he said and she smiled and stood up to leave.

"Can I speak with you outside?" she said to me.

"Me?" I asked stupidly and she nodded walking towards the door.

"Go." El Ontario urged me.

Hesitantly, I followed her to the door and we stepped out of the room. I closed the door behind us.

She looked around us hoping no one was eavesdropping. "Nicholas Skye, the mighty blood moon alpha," she said in a serious voice still full of appraisal.

I gave her a puzzled look. "How did you know?" She cackled. "Who doesn't know Nicholas Skye hmm, tell me? Your tales of conquest are around the coast and have traveled far even here in Russia." I stared at her and shrugged.

She became serious again. "I see a woman in your life alpha and both your destinies are tied to each other." She said.

"What?" I asked. I was dumbfounded by her words. Was she joking with me right now?

"You both have been enemies from generations down to your era. This long hatred will end in your reign. A marriage has been prophesied among both packs and can't be stopped even though you both will try. You're fated to each other." she said.

"What are you saying?" I asked her.

"You already know of the demon king's existence and the havoc he is bringing. Lots of things are coming both your ways and you both will need each other's protection from these abominations and that can only happen when the prophesied marriage come to pass." she looked very serious and my mind wandered off to Ava after finding out what the demon king does to pure white wolves. "Under the blood moon, hand in hand shall the demon king be defeated and perish forever. This is the way to get rid of the evil among the supernatural," she said and started cackling as she walked away. Her words kept ringing in my head as she walked on. Prophesied marriage?
