Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Skye's POV

I walked into the house and Ria, one of the pack members greeted me and took notice of my bleeding lips.

"You have a cut on your lip alpha," she said.

I touched my lips and stared down at the stain of blood on my fingertip. "It's nothing," I assured her.

Robin walked down the stairs. "I didn't see you at the parade anymore, so I brought the pack back home." he said as he approached me." Now that you're here, I have a.." he paused when he noticed my swollen lips. "What happened to you?" he asked.

I walked towards the sofa and sat down. I signaled to Ria to leave and she did. "I got into a fight at the parade but it's nothing serious to worry yourself about," I said.

"Who will dare lay their filthy hands on the blood moon alpha?" he asked and from the tone of his voice, he was angry and ready to fight for my sake.

"Your blood gets too hot over trivial matters," I said to him.

"No Skye. This cannot be taken lightly. Just give me the go ahead and that person's head shall be brought to you in a plate. Just say the word Skye." he said meaning everything he was saying.

I shook my head. "Let it be Robin," I said to him as he tried his best to calm down. "I believe you have a message for me," I said switching the topic. "What is it?" I asked.

He handed a scroll over to me. "You have an invitation from the Russian pack, the night walkers. He said as I opened the scroll. I handed it back to him. "Decline," I said.

"What?" he exclaimed staring at me in surprise.

"I'm not in the right frame of mind to honor invitations," I said to him as I leaned my head on the couch.

"But Skye," he protested. "An alliance can be sought for if you honor the night walkers' invitation. The rogues will soon spring out from nowhere and we'll need to be ready and to do that, we'll need all the help we can get," he said and I saw reason with him.

He was right. The rogues haven't been heard from in a while but we knew they were still lurking around.

"Alright, I'll honor the invitation," I said and he nodded.

"I'll pass your response to the night walkers alpha," he said and walked away.

I sighed as I placed my hand on my cheek reflecting on the stinging slap I got from Terra.

That wasn't the hurtful part, she defended the other guy and not me. Foolish me. Why would she defend me? The other guy was a member of her pack and I was an enemy. I felt bitter that she rejected me as her mate. Rejected me! I am Skye Nicholas the alpha of the blood moon pack who ladies frolicked and danced on his feet to every tune he played.

Who the hell was Ava White to think she can reject me? I made up my mind and concluded I was going to give up on her and didn't care if my wolf liked it or not.

He wasn't even talking to me after he blamed me for the rejection we got.

Ava's POV

"You fool. You think you're brave enough to go heads with the blood moon alpha uh? Now look at you, look at how miserable you look." I ranted at Fernandez as I cleaned his bloody face.

I was so angry at him. What if Skye had killed him? He was still my friend and despite my anger, I wouldn't be able to bear it should anything have happened to him.

I was still angry about what he did but I couldn't leave him lying helpless on the floor after the beating he got.

He grimaced as I cleaned his wounded lips. He had a cut and it was swollen. His eyes were also swollen at the corners."Sorry." I muttered and dropped the towel.

I picked up an ointment and applied it to his lip. He held my wrist as I kept applying the ointment. "I'm sorry," he said slowly to me.

I looked up and stared at him. For a moment I forgot he was injured and I wanted to punch him hard in his face for being a jerk that day after his promise.

"Let's not talk about it," I said withdrawing my hand and replacing the cap of the ointment back on it. I knew why he was apologizing.

"Ava, please," he said in a soft plea. I dropped the ointment and walked away. I wasn't ready to go past his dishonesty.

Skye's POV

I applied an ointment on my swollen lip and sat down in my study room glancing through a few books written by my father.

Light tappings on the roof distracted me from my readings as I looked out the window and noticed it has started raining. Droplets of rain cascaded down the windowpane as the rain increased drumming on the roof.

I went to shut the windows as pages of the books were blown aside by the wind that blew in.

I returned back to my table and was captured by the image of a pure white wolf drawn on a particular page. I began to read and was baffled at what I discovered.

The pure white wolves were prey to the demon king. They were sacrifices that the demon feeds on to renew his years and powers.

Every one hundred years, a pure white wolf was always born but they never live for long as they were sacrificial meals to the demon king.

I was lost for a moment. The page further said after the last pure white wolf was killed by the demon king, pure white wolves became extinct for more than two hundred years and he was never seen since then.

I stared at the image of the white wolf and vividly Ava's wolf flashed through my mind. She was a pure white wolf.

Out of nowhere, a sudden possessiveness came over me as my wolf Eros, who had refused to speak to me emerged and concluded in a growl that he'll do anything to protect his mate at all costs.
