Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Skye's POV

The mind link we shared since we became mates wasn't strong yet but I could feel her presence around. Just then I saw her having a conversation with Phil.

I walked down to the corner of the street knowing fully well she was going to take that lane.

Was I stalking her? I asked myself countlessly but my wolf Eros kept saying I was only looking after our mate.

A little correction there, his mate cause I wasn't ready to accept her. neither was I sure I was going to reject her.

Just like I predicted, she walked towards the narrow street and I pulled her into the darkness. She wriggled in my arms in a futile attempt to escape me.

I chuckled. "Stop struggling," I said. She realized it was me and said in a muffled voice. "Let go of me."

I took away my hand from her mouth and she started ranting.

"You bastard, how dare you..."

I placed my hand on her mouth shutting her up before she continued her rants.

"If you don't stop your foul words, I'll keep you in this position till you remain quiet," I said using a slight authority on her. She stared at me, her pupils enlarged in astonishment.

"Will you be quiet?" I asked her and she nodded. I expected her to do as she said but instead, she bit my hand and I had to let go of her quickly.

I stared at my palm as the blood gathered around the flesh she bit forming a circle.

"This is all your fault," I muttered to Eros my wolf and all he did was smirk. "You.." I said in anger. She stuck out her tongue at me in ridicule. "You got what you deserve."

"Really?" I asked forgetting about the mild pain she inflicted on me. My wolf took over as I walked towards her.

"Yes," she said backing away slowly.

Before she could turn away to escape, I pulled her back, pinning her on the wall and she gasped. I smirked as I look into her perplexed eyes. "I haven't gotten what I really deserve," I whispered in her ears.

"Let go of me Nicholas Skye," she said in a low pitched voice that tingled my senses as my wolf struggled to surface as I felt my eyes flash his reddish ones.

Ava's POV

His whispers caused a burning sensation down my stomach. The feeling made me weak and I had to put a wall around me.

His eyes had flashed, changing from his hazelnut to reddish ones revealing his wolf but he managed to control him.

"I really want to Ava, but Eros my wolf won't let me," he said as he placed his lips closer to the lobe of my ear. "He still has the memory of him kissing you in his mind. I must say, I feel jealous.." he said.

His lips lingered there and I felt my knees buckle. I couldn't understand why I felt so warm and weak in his arms.

"Ava," I heard a familiar voice and turned towards the direction it came from. It was Fernandez. He was standing at the entrance of the narrow street Skye and I was and was staring at Skye in a dangerous way.

I pushed Skye away from me but he pulled me back to himself not letting go as he turned to Fernandez and growled. His wolf was about to surface.

"Let go of her," Fernandez ordered.

"And who's gonna make me?" Skye asked in a deep growl.

Fernandez walked closer. "I said take your hands off her," he said menacingly. Skye stared hard at Fernandez and knew he was going to strike.

"Give me your best shot," Skye said with a smirk on his face literally mocking him.

With a growl, Fernandez pulled me away from Skye and threw his fist at him. Skye avoided the impact of the punch and lowered himself as he gave Fernandez a punch in his stomach.

"Stop!" I yelled but they won't relent. Fernandez's fist finally made contact with Skye's face as blood trickled from his mouth.

"Son of a bitch!" Skye muttered and with that, punched Fernandez hard in his face giving him an uppercut.

Blood spilled from his nose and mouth as he staggered back and fell to the floor.

I walked towards Skye and slapped him hard on his face and he stared at me in shock.

"Have you justified yourself now? You almost killed him!" I yelled.

"He started it and besides, he'll heal," he said in disdain.

"I don't know what idea you're getting or what's going on in that doltish head of yours but be reminded and make sure it sticks well that I, Ava White reject you as my mate and do not want you anywhere close to me. We're enemies and would forever be." I said in defiance as I walked away, my wolf screaming hard in my head for rejecting our mate. Her mate.

"Ava," he called after me but I ignored him as I picked up a bleeding Fernandez and headed home.
