Chapter 85: Chapter 85

Damien slammed his hand on the table in anger as he glared at Mason furiously, his head whirling.

“No way what you said is true. This…this can't be right!" He yelled, shaking his head while Mason continued to smile, clearly enjoying it all.

“What do I stand to gain if I lie? Laughing my fucking ass off. Everything I just said is true.”

“No way! I…”

“Yes! I will tell you to your face over and over again that Madison broke up with you, so you couldn’t escape my father’s wrath. She did it in the blink of an eye, agreeing to what we told her to do just like some lovesick puppy. Dad threatened to make your life a living hell, and he was going to start by evicting your family from that crappy house you lived in. So you see, she was powerless sorry to say and being the good girl that she was she sacrificed your relationship. She just couldn't help seeing you suffer, and so she had no other choice but to save your ass instead.” He laughed.

Damien could not believe his ears, his whole body heating up at the words.

No wonder Madison had not bothered to stand up for herself when he’d confronted her. She had just stood, her head bowed as she sobbed, and he had been so angry and heartbroken that he’d lashed out on her harshly. It was now that it dawned on him that she had only been trying to protect him, and now he knew why she had done what she did.

Damien felt himself go hot all over as everything began to piece itself together. Now he felt like the ultimate fool, blindsided by hate.

"And the good part of it all was how our whole plan worked.” Mason cackled as he continued, “You bought the whole story just like we expected. Obviously, I knew you wouldn't buy it if she just randomly broke up with you. Which was why I suggested the cheating scandal too and it worked again. Everything would have gone maybe, if she hadn’t found out she was pregnant later on, and carrying your miserable seed.”

“Don’t you d…” Damien began, feeling his heart clench as Mason began to talk about the child he’d lost.

The pregnancy topic was a sore one for him. It always filled him with so much guilt and made him wish he had done better, but now it was too late.

"You can’t threaten me with words anymore, except if you don’t want me to keep on talking.” Mason mocked, and Damien could only grit his jaw helplessly.

Biting his tongue, not saying a word he listened on as Mason spoke.

“As you might have guessed, we couldn't deal with Madison getting pregnant for such a low-life like you. That’s when my father decided to disown her though.”

“How could you do such to your sister? How could y’all do that to your blood? I mean, she was no longer with me still, but you disowned her. Why?”

“Why do you think we did it? It’s because of you silly? And…”

Anger pumped through Damien's veins, and this time he couldn’t hold himself back.

He didn’t even let the motherfucker finish, and in a fit of rage, he stretched across the table and dragged Mason tightly by the collar,

“What did I ever do to you?” He yelled, still holding his collar firmly, "I never did anything bad to your family, so why the hell did you hate me so much? Why did you despise me so much, that you even transferred the disgust down to your own blood? Why? Why? Why?”

Why were they doing this? Just because Madison had carried his child. No freaking way!

Damien knew that something sinister was going on still, and there was a secret that was being withheld from him and no matter how hard he tried to wrap his head around it, nothing was coming to head, and it still didn't make any sense to him.

It was as though they just selected him as a target. He had never crossed any of them or done anything that would warrant the extent of hatred they had for him, so what had happened.

If there was anyone who was supposed to be angry he was the one for goodness freaking sake!

Mr Connor had single-handedly had a hand in his father’s death, leaving the poor man to bleed to death.

"Your father killed mine!" The memory triggered his anger even more, as he raged on, "My father is dead and it's all your bloody father’s fault. At least I’m the one that’s supposed to be angry and mad here not you. What did we ever do to you? Just what?”

Mason was suddenly keeping quiet, and Damien saw it as an opportunity to even keep on talking and that he did.

“Even after my father died in his hands and under his care, I still went ahead and fell in love with the enemy's daughter. But still, your father just didn't leave me in peace. I never understood where all that resentment came from. I never did anything to you! So what is it? What does your father really want? Because I really don’t understood it."

Mason glared right back at Damien, and blurted out all of a sudden, “If your father had stayed in his place, and stayed the hell away from my mother, maybe it wouldn't have happened."

Damien looked confused, “Huh? What the fuck are you talking about? What does this have to do with Mrs Connor?"

As Mason started to speak, Damien stared at him in shock. He couldn't properly process what he was hearing, but from what Mason was saying, Damien's father and Mrs Connor had been sweethearts in the past. This was something that Damien had no idea of.

"But my mother’s parents were smart you know. They knew that a pauper like your dad would never be able to take care of her or provide for her, and accepting the union would have meant a lifetime of misery and poverty for their daughter. So they made the wise decision, and made her marry my father instead. Good riddance, don't you think?" Mason finished with a sneer.

At those words, Damien let go of Mason's collar, staggering back in shock. For a few moments, he did nothing but stare into space, his mouth agape as everything began to make sense.

This was a good reason, one that could explain why Mr Connor hated him so much. He could only give his wife wealth and comfort, but he could never give her love, because she had been in love with someone else.

That's why he let Damien's father die without a second thought… why he hated Damien so much.

He could only wonder if the job his father had gotten at the Connor’s construction company back then, had not been aided by Mrs Connor.

The more he thought about everything, the clearer it became and now he was also beginning to understand why Mrs Connor had always been so nice to him, and why she had been so sad at his father's death.

This all came as a shock to Damien and he was still trying to process everything.

"And don't try to act all innocent either.” Damien heard Mason say all of a sudden, "I know the only reason you got with Madison was to spite me. Especially after what you did in the past."

Damien glared at him, and his eyes dimming he had a good idea about what Mason was talking about. He vaguely remembered it all.

The bone of contention between him and Mason, and why the motherfucker hated him so much.

It was because of an incident that had occurred years ago, and this was the main reason why Mason hated him so much.

Just a few months before Damien had met Madison, he had hooked up with Mason's ex-girlfriend. It had all been a misunderstanding, as the girl was the one who had come on to Damien at the club. She had broken up with Mason weeks before, and she had told she had no boyfriend, when she threw herself at him.

Not one to pass such opportunity, he had seen no harm in fucking her at all.

She was just some random girl, and a stranger who needed a good fuck, one he could provide all to well.

But when Mason had got to know about it, he had taken it to heart and although he and the girl were separated, Mason had still not accepted that it was over between them. He continued to stalk her, asking her to rethink their relationship and insisting that she was his and nothing would change that.

So when he found out some weeks later that Damien, his sister’s boyfriend was the one who slept with his ex-girlfriend, he had been so furious. So angry, and that was the beginning of his premium hatred for Damien.

"I know you think quite low of me, but I would never do something that petty. My feelings for Madison were and is still a hundred percent real. So I have no idea what you're trying to prove. I loved your sister with all my heart and would never pretend that I never did, over some petty excuse like what you’re trying to say now.” He spat, his chest heaving.

Mason laughed, "That’s so nice. Mr lover boy. I hope you're not imagining a bright and rosy future with Madison, after all this is over, because that is never going to happen.”

“You just try me and see. Wherever I do with Madison is and should never be your business.”

“Oh well, but I guess it’s still my business to inform you that, Madison is infertile."

"Wait what?" Damien stammered, his heart beginning to pound harder in his chest, and he stood abruptly from his chair, “What the hell are you talking about?"

"If you must know, she miscarried the child, thank goodness. It won't do to have your blood in our family and yes, the miscarriage damaged her womb so badly. You have no idea how much she suffered after she was disowned you know. I heard she bled in the streets or so. Good for her, because she refused to acknowledge us as a family, and heed my father’s warning. However, Madison will never be able to have children. So if you have some imagination or fairy tale thinking that after this is all over, you’d get back with her, reconcile and start a family? Well just put your hopes down. It’s never going go work.” Mason finished.

Pain exploded inside Damien's chest as he struggled to gain his composure. This news had to be the worst he’d heard, and even the time that it was revealed that his father was the old lover of Mrs Connor, he didn’t feel much shock, anger and pain as he felt now.

Madison would never be able to have kids? She had bled on the streets, with no one to help her or take her in their care. Oh goodness! Just how much more could she suffer?

He suddenly remembered the night Madison had slept in his suite. He remembered her trying to say something regarding the baby and the doctor, but she never finished her sentence.

She must have been trying to tell him about her damaged womb, and how she could never give birth to a child of her own. Now it all made sense.

That's why she had called herself useless over and over again, claiming that she was of no good to herself or anyone and even though he’d try to make her think and say otherwise, she had refused.

The pain in his chest intensified when he remembered how much Madison loved kids, and this was like a sore blow to her. For someone who adored kids so much, and always talked about having hers one day, this was a freaking irony.

Damien didn’t even want to know how devastating, the news must have been for her.

Looking back up to see the sneer on Mason’s face, Damien came to the conclusion that there was still one thing he didn't understand. "I understand why you hate me, but your sister? Even after all these, you still hate her because of me? That makes no sense, because just why? Can’t you see she’s suffering and…”

Mason only shrugged, "Everything she’s going through, she deserves it for being a disgrace. She betrayed me, and she betrayed her entire family. She took your side, even after everything. You were the reason why I broke up with the love of my life and…”

“Your ex-girlfriend was just some random girl who’d come up to me at a club, wanting to have sex and I obliged. I wasn’t even dating Madison or anyone then, so who was I to dismiss a good fuck? I’m not the reason why you broke up with your girlfriend. I never was, get that straight.”

Mason gritted his jaw, obviously angry but Damien didn’t care. He was saying the truth.

“You might not be the reason why I broke up with her at first, but I’ll be damned if you weren’t the reason why I lost her completely. And even after what you did to me, I told Madison. I told her to steer clear of you but what did she do? She disobeyed me, and still she took your side. You know what? Everything that's happening to her right now, I say it again… She fucking deserves it. It serves her right. All this would serve as a lesson to her. Next time she'll think twice about betraying her family. In her next life, if she’s still comes from our family she would think twice before associating with the family’s enemy.”

A combination of rage and disgust filling Damien’s chest, he grabbed his keys off the table, and spat on Mason's face.

"You're the disgrace here, not her. I can't believe you would stoop so low, saying shit like this against your own flesh and blood, and still feel so proud about it. I pray God purge your heart free form hate and anger, the way he’s doing too mine. But be rest assured… I’m not done with your family yet."

“What more can you do? You can see we have nothing mister, so you’re just wasting your time. There’s nothing you can freaking do! Try it! Try it! Madison will never be yours. You should…” Mason kept yelling, as Damien walked away but he paid no heed.

Shaking his head, Damien stormed out of the bar, heading straight to his car. As soon as he climbed in, breathing raggedly, he started the ignition and still furious he drove away speedily.

…….

KATHERINE

Katherine's head was hurting again.

She had chewed four tablets already but still it didn't change anything, and the pain was much worse today.

Still, even with the pain and agony she was going through, she couldn’t stop thinking about Damien.

She was tired and fed up with waiting for him to return her calls, or texts. It had been so long since they spoke, and yet he didn’t even care? No, did he even care? Or was that bitch occupying his mind instead of her.

Pacing about, her head banging furiously, Katherine decided to take things into her own hands. She wanted to end this once and for all, and she would do that now.

She picked out some clothes from her closet, and when she was done dressing, she called one of her men to send her the address of the hotel Damien was staying in.

If he refused to come to her, then she would go to him.

She quickly rushed outside, and as soon as she got into her car, her phone pinged with the address of Damien’s hotel. Her eyes scamming through, a smirk on her lips, she inputted the address in her car’s GPS, and starting the ignition, she zoomed off to the hotel.

Damien had no idea she was in London, and maybe his activities might have made him forget about her. Hopefully, seeing her in person would change his mind and bring him back to his senses.

This was also the best she could do and she hoped it would be worth it. She was going to get him back once and for all, if not today, another day and she planned to make the most of it.

After a few minutes of driving, she finally arrived at the hotel and heading straight to the lobby she walked to the receptionist, took off her sunglasses and gave the receptionist a sweet smile.

"Hello. I'm here to see Damien Daniels. I'm his girlfriend, Katherine Scott." Prior to her decision of coming here, she had found out that the hotel was owned by Damien. So it wouldn't be hard for the employees to recognize his name at all.

At first, the receptionist looked doubtful and she began, “Ma'am, we don't really allow that without…"

Katherine had expected this, and so without wasting time she brought up her phone and shoved them in the lady’s face.

Prior to this time too, she had already searched up the internet, going to social media, and saved up pictures of her and Damien.

Now, she showed it to the receptionist whose eyes widened in surprise, and Katherine clacked at her tongue in irritation.

“Is he around?” She asked gently, and the receptionist replied, “Not really. He left the hotel this morning, and hasn’t come back ever since.”

"Oh that’s even nice, since I came here to surprise him actually. It would be nice if I could stay in his room. You and I know, he would love it right?” Katherine laughed, extracting some bills from her purse, and quickly sliding it across the counter to the receptionist.

Her trick seemed to work, because the receptionist accepted the cash gratefully, and smiling widely she handed Katherine another spare key card to the suite.

As Katherine took the card smiling, she began to dial Damien's number again, and all the way from the elevator to the suite, she continued to do so, but he did not pick up.

She also left him a bunch of messages, which went unanswered but she didn’t worry herself to much. He was going to see her today, no matter what.

Getting to the suite, she decided to make the most of the moment and taking off her clothes, she took a long hit shower and styled her hair with the hair creams she saw in the large bathroom.

When she was done, she took out just another sexy black dress she had gotten from her closet – which she’d kept in her bag - and slipping it on she plopped her ass on the soft king sized bed.

Checking her phone once more, she smiled waiting for Damien to arrive.
