Or did she do that because she knew that he wanted the same?

The mere thought filled his heart with guilt. He could be the cause of her miserable state; after all, he went near her and asked her to reject her mate.

"Hunter... join me in the garden," Sophia said, diverting his attention. Theodore went to work, and Liara went to the hospital for an hour, so Sophia invested her time in gardening, something that she had started loving in the past couple of years. Brandon didn't want to miss out on any of her fun, so he began accompanying her.

"You were talking to Tee?"

"Yes!! I invited her to the party. In this way, she could also meet Rose’s mother. Thankfully, she will be coming even after knowing that Theo will be there." Sophia nodded her head as he spoke."Do you think that I ruined her life, Mon Amour? I mean, did she reject Theo because I wanted her to?"

"Oh, please!! Don't start thinking stupid things like that."Sophia scoffed. "Lee was your blind follower, so I would have said yes if we were discussing her. Caro was the one who always listened to you after Lee, but when it came to her mate, she made her own decision. Last but not least, Tee always did what she wanted regardless of what others thought."

"So, there is no way, she rejected Theodore just because you wanted that to happen or for your happiness." Sophia cleared his doubts.

"I wish she could just talk to us so that I would have fixed her problems," Brandon muttered. "The way she has started keeping secrets from us, Mon Amour, I won’t be surprised if something were to happen to her and we wouldn’t be aware of that."

"Don’t think in that way. As long as Colton is there, nothing will happen to anyone." Sophia said confidently.

"What if he won’t be there?" Brandon wanted to say something but couldn't because he didn't want to be the cause of her increased blood pressure. All of a sudden, she sneezed twice and rubbed her nose because of the cold.

"You took your medicine?"

"Yes. Lee made sure that I would have the medicine after breakfast." Sophia replied before adding, "Hunter!" If anything will happen to me, then..."

"Don’t," Brandon growled at her in a low tone.

"Unlike me, you can live to be over a hundred years old."

"All I know is that I don’t want to live a minute without you, Sophia Elizabeth Weasley Haysbert," Brandon confessed and kissed her until she was out of breath. "By the way, are there any good souls around? Because I want to know what exactly is happening here. People are training as if there will be a war, and when I asked Ambrose about it, he changed the subject."

"War?" Sophia asked in shock.

"Yeah!"
