Chapter 295: Chapter 295
"I caught you." Colton’s body stiffened when he heard Sophia’s voice. He quickly pushed Liara’s report away and acted like he was standing there for something else. Sophia returned to Calvin’s office to get Liara’s report and cherish the picture of her future grandchild, which she had forgotten in his cabin.
Colton felt like the same four-year-old kid who was caught by Sophia while stealing a credit card from her purse. His fear, his nervousness, and everything else was the same; the only problem was that he couldn’t act to fall on the ground now and start crying.
"Colt." Sophia wrapped her hand around her tall son’s arm.
"Hm"
"You’re now thirty-two years old."
"Not again, Mom." He muttered, knowing where this conversation was headed.
"And I’m fifty-four years old already," Sophia added, on which Colton winced. The worst part of growing up was seeing your parents get older. "I’m not a werewolf or vampire, and with this heart disease, I don’t know when I will be there for you. I want you to settle down, son."
Colton sighed and looked at her, saying, "Mom, I don’t feel anything for any woman."
"Is it possible to arrange a marriage?"Sophia suggested.
Colton knew his mother wasn't going to drop the subject anytime soon, so he countered with, "How about contract marriage?"Just like you and dad. If I fall in love, that's fine; otherwise, the marriage will be over in a year."
Sophia might not be as brilliant as him, but she had given birth to him, and she knew how he dealt with things; after all, he was his father’s son.
It was her pregnancy that became the reason why Brandon ended up falling for her, unwillingly.
"So, you’re ready for a contract marriage?" Sophia asked in a serious tone. Now, even if she had to dig into each and every corner of the world, she would have to find a girl who would win his heart and handle his rude behavior at the same time.
"Yes! That was my first condition. My second condition is that the girl should not get scared of me. She should have the courage to look me in the eyes and stand her ground, no matter how angry I am."
"Third, I want a human, not any supernatural creature whom I will always think of killing. Her hair should be white as snow, and her eyes should be blue as the ocean." Sophia knew that this was almost impossible. Her son was just playing with her.
"You want an eighty-year-old lady? Because in that way, I can find a woman with white hair and blue eyes. And considering her age, you will behave." Sophia said in a sarcastic tone.
"I've got to leave." With that, he leaned toward her and planted a kiss on her hair. "Take care, Mom," he whispered, before leaving from there. Once he left, Calvin walked outside the washroom.
"So? "What's the update?"
"Contract marriage," Sophia whispered.
"Don’t worry, Mom. "Theodore found his mate at the age of a hundred, and who knows if Colton will find someone at the age of a hundred as well."Sophia narrowed her eyes at his words. "What? Your son can be immortal. All he needed was to kill someone very powerful."
"Immorality is a curse if one has to stay alone, Calvin. And even a couple of minutes is special if you have someone with you." Sophia explained, patting Calvin’s cheek. She grabbed Liara’s report and left his cabin.
