Chapter 198: Chapter 198
Liara couldn’t help but always felt being watched all the time. She wasn’t sure if this was her brother or someone else. It was the tenth day when she felt the same way. She could sense that something was happening around Black Council about which she was totally aware.
And she wasn’t stupid who would go out of the territory in search of danger, not when she knew she was the target.
She told the same thing to Theodore, who told her that she was overthinking and shouldn’t stress herself much as the whole area was secure. She knew that he was hiding something from her, but she didn’t nag him when she knew that he was doing this on purpose.
At the same time, she had challenged Ambrose Wayne that she would be among them, and she was working hard to adjust to their lifestyle by eating raw meat, walking barefoot, and everything except roaming around naked. And even after doing all this, she could see people staring at her differently, passing nasty comments. Hell, no one was interested in even talking with her. If not for those pups, she would have died because of boredom.
She couldn’t help but wonder whether she would win this challenge, even when anyone wasn’t giving her a proper chance. Four more days were left, and she had no idea how things would take a 180-degree turn.
“Lee!! We can’t find Lucy anywhere.” Aryan informed her, bringing her out of her thoughts. “We were playing hide and seek, and she... She just disappeared.” He added, and his voice broke as if he would start crying any moment. Lucy was his elder sister, after all.
“Did you inform your parents about it?”
“I did. Mom said that it would be good if that bitch would die.” A tear rolled out of his eyes. Liara quickly wiped his tear. Lucy was the only female pup among all, and everyone treated her like she was some unwanted thing. Everyone wanted a son but not a daughter.
“Don’t cry. Nothing will happen to her. She knows how to climb the tree. She knows what she has to do in danger.” Liara consoled him and sniffed around. Lucy’s scent wasn’t around. “I can sense her, okay? Now smile and stay with other pups; I will be back with Lucy.” She lied to make him feel better.
Liara caressed his face, using her power to make him feel good before leaving from there.
‘Theo, one of the pups, Lucy, is missing. Can you please ask the guards to check this?’ Liara mind-linked Theodore.
‘On it. Let me handle this situation on my own. You stay with the other pups.’ Theodore replied.
‘Okay!’ Liara lied, but she didn’t want to sit there doing anything.
‘Liar!’ Theodore growled, knowing that she was lying. ‘Lia, stay inside. If anything happens to you….’ Liara closed the mind linked, shutting him in between, knowing what he would say.
Soon, she reached the border and found Moana and Derik, the security in charge of the pack. She went near them, only to gasp in terror after finding two of the guards dead. Someone had cut their head with a sharp blade or…. A sword.
“What are you doing here, Princess?” Moana asked Liara.
“Lucy is missing, so I came here to see if I could help,” Liara replied and wanted to know what their plan was to search for her.
“We have sent three of our people in search of her,” Derik replied. “You can stay inside because it looks like someone else is here except us.” He ordered her, on which Liara frowned. Just because no one had seen her training, everyone thought of her as a doll made of glass. Little did they know that she was anything but not a doll.
“Thanks for your concern, Derik, but I’m not sitting quietly doing nothing. In which direction those three warriors had gone in search of Lucy?”
“East, West, and North.” He replied, to which Liara decided to go to the South.
“She is just a pup; if anything happens to her, then it wouldn’t matter to anyone, but if anything happens to you, then Theo will kill everyone present here,” Moana warned, knowing what she was thinking. “On the top, South is a big NO for everyone. That is a cursed land that is full of bogs.”
Liara ignored her words and ran in the direction of the South. She wasn’t interested in greeting danger, but at least she should check.
