Chapter 42: Chapter 42

After training, Damon, Megan and Belinda headed back to their residences. Megan suggested they all went to their chamber to talk about the way forward, so they all headed there.

Getting to her chamber, Megan locked the door behind them, and when she turned to look at Damon and Belinda, she caught them embracing each other tightly.

“I missed you so much, Prince Damon.” Belinda mumbled as she buried her face in his chest.

“I missed you so much too. How are you? Any weird things after what happened that night?” Damon inquired, and Belinda shook her head.

“Nothing, Prince Damon. It’s almost like nothing happened. I’m glad it’s like this though.” Belinda answered, smiling sweetly at him.

“Uhm uhm.” Princess Megan cleared her throat as she slowly approached them.

“I’m still here, guys.” She muttered, and they both chuckled, letting go of each other. Damon’s countenance changed from a smiling one, into a sad and worried one, and Belinda noticed this.

“What is wrong?” She asked, reaching for his hand and giving it a slight squeeze.

Damon heaved a sigh and sat on the sofa next to them, also guiding Belinda to sit.

“I confronted Mr. Theron about what he did to you that night, asking him what he used and why he had to be extreme about it…”

“And? Are you still worried about what happened? I’m fine, Prince Damon…”

“No, Belinda, not only that. He knows I was the one that marked you.” Damon butted in.

“He knows?” Belinda’s Jaw dropped and she turned to look at Megan, who also nodded in support of what she had just heard.

“How? I never mentioned it to anyone.” Belinda further said in distress.

“No one said anything to him. Mr. Theron isn’t an ordinary person, and he proved that to us yesterday. He found out for himself. Though he promised not to say anything to King Talos, he asked us to stay away from each other, as far as possible. My father hates the idea of me being your anchor, talkless of him knowing you are my mate. He went as far as telling Mr Theron to look for another anchor.”

After Damon finished speaking, Belinda lowered her head in sadness as tears welled up in her eyes.

“But why? Why is everything so hard? I haven’t done anything wrong? Why does everyone hate me so much?” She mumbled in tears.

“I don’t hate you, and I will never hate you.” Megan answered from her bed where she sat, looking at them.

“Listen, Belinda…” Damon uttered, moving closer to her and holding her hands.

“I love you so much, and you know this. You can feel it. I don’t want to be far away from you either, but if we aren’t careful, you could be sent out of this kingdom and we’ll be apart for a long time. I can’t let this happen, Belinda. I don’t mind pretending not to be close to you anymore if that’s what it takes to see your pretty face for the rest of my life.”

Damon caressed her face with his thumb, and she raised her head to look at him.

“So we wouldn’t have any time to be alone anymore?” She asked, and Damon sadly shook his head.

“I’m sorry, Belinda. But for now, we need to stay away from each other completely. I know there are eyes on us, watching to see any mistakes so it can be reported to the king. It’s best if we play safe.”

Belinda sniffed and nodded. “But, can we have one last night together? I want to feel you before we finally stay away.” Belinda mumbled shyly, keeping her head bowed as she spoke.

Megan grinned, looking away shyly as she listened to their conversation. She felt butterflies roam in her belly, hearing how much they craved each other. It made her remember Yolanda.

“I’d love one last night with you too, but it can’t be in my chamber or yours. Remember I said there are eyes watching us.” Damon responded, and Belinda bobbed.

“So where should we meet then?” Belinda asked.

“I could have suggested my chamber, but it’s also quite risky. You two need to meet outside the palace. It will be a little less risky.”

“The tower! No one would see us there.” Belinda suggested.

“That’s true. For a couple of days now, no one has been watching the boundaries. My father and the society have been busy with other pressing matters.” Megan added.

Damon heaved a sigh and nodded. “But will you be comfortable there?” He asked worriedly, and Belinda smiled.

“You’ll be with me. That’s all that matters. I don’t care if I get to stand throughout the night. I just need you tonight.” Belinda answered, smiling sweetly.

“Then we’ll see tonight at the tower. I’ll be there the eighth hour of the night, waiting for you.”

“And I won’t keep you waiting for so long. Expect me there at that same time.” Belinda answered.

“Well… Well! Just make sure no one finds out where you’re headed tonight. And take something to lie on when you get there. You don’t want to hump while standing, it’s pretty tiring.”

“Princess Megan!” Belinda called, covering her face in shyness.

~At Night~

Isla couldn’t stop thinking about what to do to implicate Belinda throughout the day, and she finally came up with something.

Sitting in front of her residence, she thought of the best way to carry out her evil plans. She needed an alone place and sacred time to execute her plans.

Still sitting and thinking of what to do, she sighted Belinda, walking past her residence. Her eyes popped wide open and she sprang to her feet.

‘It is time, Isla! Grab the opportunity!’ She said to herself as she ran up to Belinda, blocking her way. Belinda was startled as Isla suddenly appeared in front of her.

“Did I scare you?” Isla asked, smiling softly. Her eyes hastily ran through Belinda’s body. Belinda had some jewelries on and even slight make up, making Isla wonder where she was headed.

“No, you didn’t.” Belinda answered, clenching her jaws. She could perceive Isla was there to bother her. She kept a frown on her face, expecting her to leave her alone.

“I’m sorry if I did. Miss Belinda, I’m here to apologize for all the bad things I’ve done to you.” Isla muttered, bowing her head.

Belinda’s eyes widened in shock as she heard Isla called her miss, and even said sorry to her. ‘Is she truly apologizing?’ She reminisced.

“You’ve done nothing.” Belinda answered, still frowning.

“Don’t be polite, Miss Belinda. I know I’ve hurt you so much, and this is me saying I’m very sorry. I have realized my mistake and I want you to forgive me. I want to be your friend, Miss Belinda.” Isla added, putting on a remorseful face.

“Why do you want to become my friend? I am a red-furred wold. I’m evil and dangerous.” Belinda added, trying to see if she was being honest or not.

“That is a lie. Only those that don’t know you well will believe this. You’re an amazing woman, Miss Belinda. I’ve learnt my mistakes and today I am going to kneel in front of you, just to show you my sincerity.”

Isla lifted her dress as she wanted to kneel, but Belinda hastily stopped her, grabbing her arms and pulling her up. She was surprised to see Isla go to the extent of wanting to kneel for her.

‘I think she is sincere and truly sorry.’ She thought.

‘You can’t just forgive her like that! She helped in getting you back to Alpha Cephas!’ Her wolf spoke up, but Belinda ignored her.

“You don’t have to kneel, Isla. I believe you and forgive you. And I’m sorry too. If I have hurt you in the past.” Belinda responded with an affectionate smile, and Isla eyes welled up with tears.

“I’m so happy, right now! Thank you! I don’t deserve your forgiveness.” Isla answered, and Belinda shook her head.

“It’s all good, Isla. I’m glad we are friends now.”

“Can I hug you?” Isla mumbled, cleaning her eyes. Belinda opened her arms in response and Isla embraced her tightly, wrapping her arms around her neck.

“You smell so good.” Isla complimented, washing away the remorse look she had on her face. She let out an evil smirk before breaking the hug, and then smiled sweetly at Belinda again.

“I’ll leave you now.” Isla uttered, keeping her hands behind her and bowing slightly. She kept her hands at her side as she walked back to her residence.

She could feel Belinda staring at her as she walked. She scoffed and looked back at Belinda with the corner of her eyes as she got to her door.

‘I never knew you were this stupid. Watch me ruin you, you stupid red wolf!’ Isla said to herself as she opened her door and walked in.
