Chapter 34: Chapter 34
Maisie got to the Mystic Shadow pack boundaries and stormed in, breathing very hard. She couldn’t stop running from the palace, nor did she look back.
I couldn’t wait to hear what happened from her sister, and why she decided to fail her.
Getting to Maeve and Maisie’s home, she banged the door in haste and anger.
“Maeve!” She called out her sister’s name with aggression, and before she could call out her name again, the door opened.
In front of her stood Alpha Cephas, his face was swollen, and half of his face was tied with a white cloth which was beginning to get stained with blood.
Terror overwhelmed Maisie as she gazed at him. “What happened to you?”
“Maisie?” Maeve answered from inside the house and stepped out, pulling Maisie along with her.
“Let go of me!” Maisie smacked, snatching her hand from hers.
“I just saw the girl that is supposed to be dead at the palace! How did it happen? You were supposed to kill her!” Maisie smacked.
“No, Cephas was supposed to kill her! But you know how he can be, don’t you? I begged him to let us kill her when we could but he refused. He wanted to kill the Prince too.”
“What?! What does Damon have to do with this?”
“Damon is the wolf that has been rescuing her from us, Maisie. He is the one that kept Cephas on his toes for months, looking for Belinda. He knew he was going to show up to save her again, and that is when he planned to kill her.”
“Didn’t you tell him I went to get married to the prince? Why would he ever think of killing the man I love?!”
“I never knew he had his death in mind too, okay? He had everything play out the way he wanted it, until that girl changed into something horrific. She is a f**king red-furred wolf, and she took Cephas’ left eye while she was trying to save the prince.”
Maisie’s jaw dropped as she listened to her sister’s story. She found it too shocking to be true.
“You need to stay away from that girl and from the palace, Maisie. I bet everyone in that kingdom knows what you did and would kill you at any given chance. If they don’t, that monster will. Stay away from them!”
Maeve grabbed her hand and shook her vigorously as she spoke. She was still terrified from what she saw Belinda do, and she couldn’t bring herself to think of her doing the same thing to her sister.
Maisie was too stunned to speak, so she just stared at her sister like she’d gone crazy.
“Are you listening to me at all?! Cephas just lost his eye! He barely talks to me! The pack isn’t itself anymore. I can’t lose you too.”
She pulled Maisie into a hug and embraced her tightly. She broke into tears, burying her face in her shoulder.
The anger in Maisie was replaced with fear. She hugged Maeve too and brushed her hair with her hand.
“What are we going to do now? Have we lost everything? Are we not going to seek revenge?” Maisie asked.
“I don’t know, Maisie. Let’s just stay away from her and the palace for now. She is dangerous and evil, sister. Please, stay away.”
Maeve broke the hug after speaking. They both turned to look at Cephas who stood at the door and stared at them blankly.
“He isn’t going to let this slide, is he?” Maisie asked.
“I don’t know. He hasn’t said anything to anyone since last night when it happened. But one thing I know for sure is that Cephas won’t spare anyone who ridicules him. I just don’t know if it’s the same for a red-furred wolf.”
“I was so mad when I was on my way here, but hearing this, I don’t even know how to react anymore. I feel so bad for Cephas.” Maisie added.
“Me too, but his stubbornness caused this. I warned him to let us get rid of her as soon as possible, but he didn’t listen. You know how Cephas can be.” Maeve answered sadly.
“Are you alright though??”
“Don’t worry about me, Maisie. I failed you and I’m sorry. You’ve lost your chance with the Prince and it’s all my fault.” Maeve lowered her head in sadness.
“No, Maeve. Let’s not blame ourselves for this. We are to blame Belinda, and she’ll pay for this. If not now, then, in the future.” Maisie answered, embracing her sister.
As they hugged, Maisie began to think of ways to make Belinda pay for what she had done, but she couldn’t come up with anything. All she could think of was to stay away from the Palace until it was safe for her again.
Even though it seemed impossible, she believed she would still have something to do with Prince Damon.

“Prince Damon, is there a problem?” Isla asked nervously.
“You and I know very well that there’s a problem. I know what you did. I can easily go to the king and report you for such irresponsible behavior, you know that right?”
Isla hastily bowed her head in fear of being judged by the king. “I’m sorry, my Prince. I was forced to do it.”
“Oh please, Isla. You have always hated Belinda from the beginning. You were not forced to do it. You wanted to.”
“No, my Prince. I swear, Miss Maisie talked me into doing it.” She further uttered in fear.
“Enough of the lies, Isla! I know everything. And I’m here to warn you. The next time you lay a finger on Belinda, I swear I’ll feed your head to the birds of the air. You and Maisie better not do anything stupid anymore. I don’t hesitate to make you both disappear.”
After Damon finished talking, he talked to leave.
“But I didn’t do it alone, my Prince. Yolanda helped me too. It is unfair not to punish her too.”
Damon took a halt and turned to look at her with a frown.
“So planting her bracelet at the crime scene wasn’t enough?”
“Planting? I didn’t plant anything, my prince. She helped me capture Belinda, and Princess Megan is aware of it. She overheard us talking about it when she came to confront Yolanda about the bead.”
Damon furrowed his brows as he listened to Isla. ‘I should have known Megan was lying to me. She would never tell me Yolanda had a part in it.’
“She should be punished too.” Isla added.
“Enough! You are not going to tell me what to do. You should be grateful you are not dead by now!” Damon muttered within gritted teeth and walked away.
He walked down to the barracks where Megan and Belinda were. Getting there, he found Belinda in a sword fight with one of the armies.
Her movements were so smooth and accurate. She could predict every move the army was going to make, so she countered him and won.
Damon was impressed and started clapping from the door, pulling attention to himself. Megan looked at him, smiling impressively, but he looked at her with a stern look.
