Chapter 30: Chapter 30

Maeve and other members of the packs that were fighting with Megan and Ayman stopped abruptly and stared in awe at Belinda as she charged towards Alpha Cephas.

Cephas began to fidget where he was and before he could shapeshift to his wolf form, Belinda pounced on him, making him fall to the ground, and she dragged her paw across his face, cutting him deep and even bursting his left eye in the process.

“Cephas!” Maeve called out in terror as she saw blood ooze out of his face. She couldn’t believe her eyes.

Belinda moved back and wanted to charge at him again, when she heard Megan call her name in desperation.

“Belinda! Damon… I can’t feel his pulse anymore!” Megan cried out.

Hearing this, Belibda was forced to stop. She looked back and saw Megan tapping Damon’s face, begging him to wake up.

She looked at Cephas who was losing so much blood. She wanted to finish him right there but she then, she would have to ignore her dying mate and Megan’s cry.

Sue turned away from Cephas and raced to where Damon was laying. She turned back to her human form and fell next to him, naked.

Ayman hastily moved closer to her and hung his large coat on her shoulders. He stood in front of them, ready to face any of the pack members that would want to attack them.

Fortunately, they were all trying to keep their Alpha alive, so they didn’t pay any attention to them anymore.

“Prince Damon. I am here now. Please wake up.” She cried, collecting him from Megan and embracing him in her hands. Her hands quivered as she couldn’t feel his breath anymore.

“No… no… Prince Damon. I’m sorry.” She cried even more, shaking him vigorously.

“You need to do something, Belinda. You can heal him.” Megan uttered, and Belinda looked at her in confusion.

“What do you mean?” She mumbled.

“I have always read about wolves like you, Belinda. You have a special healing power in you. Please bring my brother back to life. I will die if I lose him.” Megan pleaded as tears streamed down her eyes.

Belinda believed Megan, but was confused about how to go about healing him. Her wolf showed up the least expected time, and she was yet to get familiar with what she could do.

‘This is your mate! You need to do something before you lose him forever!’ Her wolf spoke to her, louder and clearer than ever.

“How? I don’t know how to bring him back!” Belinda cried out in frustration.

‘Place your forehead on him and just relax.’ Her wolf spoke to her again.

Belinda pulled Damon up and made his forehead touch hers. She exhaled deeply and closed her eyes, waiting for a miracle to happen.

Ayman and Megan stared at her with so much expectation from her.

All of a sudden, a bright light shone from between their foreheads. Megan sprang up and stared at Damon anxiously. Her eyes fell on his wounds, and to their greatest surprise, they began to close up pretty fast.

“Yes! You’re doing it, Belinda!” Megan screamed in excitement, and she looked at Ayman who was also smiling widely.

After a few minutes, Damon coughed to life. “Oh my…” Belinda cried and pulled him into her arms. She embraced him tightly and kissed his head.

“I thought I lost you. I was so scared.” She mumbled in tears.

Damom looked around and wondered why everyone was staring at him in surprise. He then noticed that the pain he felt before he lost consciousness wasn’t there anymore.

He slowly pulled out of Belinda’s embrace and checked out his body. He ran his hand through his face and neck, moved his legs with no stress. He then realized that his body was back to normal.

“How? How…”

“Belinda is a red-furred wolf, Damon! She healed you! She brought you back to life!” Megan uttered in excitement.

Damon’s eyes popped wide open in amusement and looked at Belinda, who was staring at him with so many emotions.

Before he said anything to her, he pulled her into a tight hug and closed his eyes.

“I knew you were special, Belinda. I always felt you’re a special one. Thank you.”

Belinda closed her eyes too and let more tears run down her cheeks. “I’m glad you’re back.” She answered and smiled faintly.

“I’m glad you’re back too, Prince Damon, but we need to leave this territory now. We are still safe for now because they are all trying to keep their Alpha safe, but it may not be long before they face us again.” Ayman cut in, and they all nodded in agreement.

Damon lifted Belinda up without letting go of her. Megan tried to stand up, and that was when Belinda noticed something was wrong with her leg.

“Megan, were you injured too? Let me heal you.” Belinda uttered and moved close to her.

“It can’t…” Belinda didn’t let Megan speak before she placed her forehead against hers. They waited for that same light to shine, but it didn’t.

She moved back in confusion and shook her head. “Why isn’t it working?” She asked no one in particular.

“Because I’m not your mate, Belinda. Your healing power works only on the one that has marked you. That is why it worked on my brother.”

Belinda nodded slowly. “But, you’re injured. I should be able to…”

“Don’t worry about me, Belinda. This is a minor injury. I’ll heal before tomorrow morning. Let’s just get out of here.”

They all headed out of the pack boundary and hit the road back to the MoonLove Kingdom.

There was awkward silence amidst them, as they couldn’t help but wonder about what they had just seen Belinda do in just one night.

Belinda on the other hand also, was still shocked and felt like a stranger to herself. All this while, she never knew she had something so great inside of her. No one ever told her she was different in a good way.

“Belinda.” Megan called her, finally breaking the silence.

“Yes, Princess Megan.” She answered.

“You were not aware about the kind of wolf you are until tonight, right?” She inquired, and Belinda shook her head.

“I had no idea. At some point, I even thought I wasn’t a wolf at all because I didn’t transform the way other wolves do.”

“Wow. So that means you weren’t so familiar with your lineage story. For you to be a red-furred wolf, you must be related to one of the ten red-furred wolf families that existed. I have always loved to read books about them, and I know so much. I promise to help you get acquainted with your wolf better.”

“So, it’s normal that I am one of those ten families that existed?” Belinda further asked.

“Not at all. I’m still trying to get my head wrapped around it. In the history book at the palace library, it was stated that your kind is extinct.”

“Then, she’s probably the last one alive.” Damon interfered.

“Or there are more that we don’t know about.” Megan added.

Ayman finally summoned the courage to speak after a long while of listening to them discuss.

“I’m sorry to just barge in, but Prince Damon, what are we going to say to the king when we get back to the Palace? I can’t stop thinking about this.” Ayman said in great worry.

They all exchanged looks and let out a loud sigh. “That is true. What do we tell our father?” Megan asked.

They all looked at Damon, waiting for him to drop a word of wisdom that will save them all from the king.

“I am not sure, but I think we’ll have to tell him everything that happened, including the fact that Belinda is a red-furred wolf.” Damon answered.

“We’ll tell him everything? Starting from where?” Ayman and Megan chorused.

“Just let me do the talking when we get there, okay? One thing I can’t let him know is that I marked Belinda. We are not ready to let that out now.” Damon responded and held Belinda’s hand, trying to show her his support.

“Sure.” Megan answered, and Damon looked at Ayman.

“Ayman?” He asked.

“I won’t say a word to the king.” He answered, and Damon nodded.

“Good. I’ll talk to our father and hopefully, he will agree to anything I say. He will want to blame this on Belinda, but I will never let that happen.” Damon assured them and put their minds at rest.

Megan held Belinda’s second hand and smiled widely at her.

“I promise to protect you, Belinda. You’re not alone. And I’m sorry for all these awful things that have happened to you. You don’t deserve any of them. You’re a sweet soul and everyone should know that.”

Belinda’s eyes heated up with tears as she listened to Megan’s heart-lifting words. She began to wonder why she deserved such love from her and her brother.

She lowered her head and began to sob. “Awwn.” Megan pulled her into a hug and caressed her back and hair.

“I love you, Princess Megan.” She mumbled against her shoulder.

“I love you, Belinda my red-furred wolf.” Megan answered, and they all chuckled.

“Errmm, I think we should increase our paces now. We need to get to the palace as soon as possible.” Ayman uttered, and Megan rolled her eyes.

“You’re such a buzz kill, Ayman.” She muttered, disengaging from Belinda.

Belinda held Damon waist as he wrapped his arm around her neck. They walked like they were married couples, stealing glances of each other and smiling.

Before they got to the gate, they let each other go so as to avoid being seen by anyone from the kingdom.

To their greatest surprise, when they got to the gate of the Kingdom, they met so many armies and guards from all packs in their kingdom standing outside with their weapons pointed out to them.

Behind them was King Talos, wearing his favorite night robe. He walked out from their backs and stood in between the guards and the four of them.

“Seize the slave and Ayman!” King Talos ordered, and about four guards rushed out to capture Belinda and Ayman.

“No, father!” Megan and Damon chorused, but he ignored them.

“Throw them in the cells.” He ordered again and turned to leave without wanting to hear any words from his children.
