Chapter 68: Chapter 68

"CHARLIE'S right…" Gideon muttered after we left the hospital. "I'm… infertile."

The day after Charlie talked to us, Gideon and I decided to visit a urologist. And there, we confirmed that Charlie was telling the truth. Gideon had an infertility problem.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Henry," the doctor said when he handed us the result of Gideon's lab tests. "The result of your laboratory told us you have a condition called oligospermia. It is a condition where your testicles don't produce enough sperm cells. A normal sperm count ranges from fifteen million sperm per milliliter of semen. In your case, Mr. Henry, your testicles can only produce five to eight million sperm."

Gideon turned to me. "I couldn't give you a child, Bianca." There was a bitter smile on his face. "I couldn't give you a family. I promised your child, I'll give her a sister, right? Turns out I wouldn't be able to do it."

I cupped his face. "You heard the doctor, Gideon. It's curable. You can get treatment for that. You can try stem cell therapy."

"But nothing is guaranteed, Bianca." He looked at me sadly.

I caressed his cheek, trying to comfort him. "It's okay, Gideon."

He shook his head. "No. It's not fine. You wanted a family, Bianca. You deserve a family. I wanted to give you kids."

"You're already family, Gideon. We're already a family." I looked him in the eye and smiled. "I only wanted you, Gideon. It's you or nothing."

He sighed. "But I wanted to give you a child."

I gave her a soft smile. "We can still have kids, Gideon. The doctor said the possibility is slim, but it's not zero. Besides, we have other options. We can adopt. We can try artificial insemination. Besides, we already have our first baby. Pluto, remember?"

I held his hand and brought it to my lips. "You don't have to worry about that, okay?"

A soft smile finally emerged on his face. "I'm so lucky to have you in my life. I didn't know what I'd do without you, sweetheart."

"Come on," I stood and tried to pull him up from the bench we were sitting on. "Let's roam around the city. We still haven't gone on a date since we came back from LA."

It was Saturday. We both don't have work. We decided to roam around the city. After visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art on 5th Avenue, we went to Rockefeller center.

"Come on, smile Gideon." I urged him when I tried to take a picture of him under the huge Christmas tree.

"Come here with me," Gideon pulled me into his arms. "Let's take a picture together." He wrapped his arms around my shoulder before he held his phone in front of us.

My eyes widened when he kissed me on the cheek just in time when he tapped the screen.

"We looked cute here," Gideon said as we examined the picture.

"Nah! I wasn't prepared, Gideon! Delete that and take another one."

I tried to get his phone but he was quick to move it away from me.

"You look cute here, sweetheart. I like it," he turned to me and give me a quick kiss on the lips.

We also tried ice skating on its famous outdoor ice skating rink.

"Helen and I used to buy this a lot when we were still in the university," I said, handing Gideon a fish taco that we bought at the taco stand nearby.

We were already here at the central park.

"She likes Mexican food." We took one of the vacant benches here in the park.

"How long has she been married?" Gideon asked as he took a bite of his fish taco.

I smiled. "Four years. She met her husband at NYU. They have been together since college."

"What about you?" Gideon asked.

I raised my brow. "What about me?"

"Did you have a boyfriend in college?"

I pursed my lips. "Of course, Gideon. I was a normal college girl." I playfully rolled my eyes at him.

He cocked a brow. "How many are they?"

I chuckled a bit. "Seriously? Are we going to talk about this?"

"Just give me a number, Bianca."

I pursed my lips. "Three. Satisfied?"

"Three?"

I cleared my throat. "How about you? How many flings did you have in the past?" I scoffed. "I'm sure there are many."

"You forgot I have amnesia, sweetheart," he answered, looking at me with an amused smile.

I rolled my eyes and took a bite of my fish taco. "Tsk. That's unfair."

Gideon licked his lips. "Stop it, sweetheart."

He bit his lower lip and raised an eyebrow. "Stop rolling your eyes at me. It's turning me on."

My eyes widened. "Wow, Gideon. We're in public." I glanced at the people who were walking in front of us.

He let out a small laugh. "Then you better stop seducing me."

I frowned at him. "I'm not seducing you." I picked up a dried maple leaf on the bench and threw it at him.

He caught it in his hand. "Did you know that the maple leaf is an ancient symbol of love?" he smiled, giving me back the maple leaf that I threw at him.

"Really?" I asked, my brows furrowed. "How did you know it?"

He stilled. "I… I don't know." He pursed his lips. "It's just at the back of my mind."

My lips parted. "You remembered something?"

He shook his head. "Nothing. I feel like… someone had said that to me before. I don't know who—"

We were interrupted when Gideon's phone rang.

"It's Mom," he said before he stood up to answer it.

"What is it?" I asked Gideon when the call ended. I noticed how his face turned serious.

He turned to me and sighed. "Mom said that Dad was asking me to go back to LA."

"Why?"

"I don't know, Bianca. She said Dad will call me later."

My face went serious. "Do you think... It's about Charlie?"
