Chapter 12: Chapter 12
"Sameera, how many years have you been living here?" Naina asked her way back home in her scooty.
"I think, nearly 5 years," Sam replied simply while giving her full concentration on the road.
"Yaar, why do you always talk to me so formally? Feel free to ask and talk to me friendly. It feels awful when you talk to me so formally." Sameera complained.
"I'm not any stranger to you anymore. So keep in mind, next time don't repeat this mistake of yours."
Hence, advised her to get used to being friendly with her. And Naina nodded her head affirmatively.
"Yaar, don't shake your head like that. Just like others I also have my eyes frontwards and also have only two eyes. Neither more nor less."
"So I can't see backward. And also I'm not a witch that I could turn my neck towards you. So when you have to answer someone, you must use your tongue to express what you want to say. Instead of nodding or shaking your head. Get it?"
Sam gave her a short lecture which made her remember someone.
"You're talking like Kunwar Sa. He also keeps telling me the same thing all day." A smile appears on her face thinking about his lecturing.
"Listen, don't shake your head like that. Answer me in words." Naina mimicked Sameer making a heavy voice like him. And both laughed wholeheartedly.
"You both have an arranged marriage, Right?" Sam unknowingly hurt her by asking this question.
Naina's smile was lost somewhere. Her face become etched with sadness.
"Yeah." She just replied in a slow tone plastering a fake smile on her face.
"Do I have asked something wrong?" Sam senses that something is wrong with her so she asked her. But Naina kept mum.
"N, why do you address me as Sameera? It sounds so boring; call me Sam instead. It sounds so cool."
Sam tried to make the environment change and turn into a happy me again.
Naina chuckled and said. "Okay! From today onwards I'll call you Sam only. Now, happy?"
Pulling her cheeks from behind she asked and Sam whined.
"Please don't pull my cheeks. It hurts. Di also does the same. And now you've started. Not fair!" She said with fake anger.
"But I love to pull your cheeks. It's so soft soft. I'm a thousand percent sure, your would-be husband will also love to pull your cheeks."
Naina chuckled while saying that and pulled her cheeks again.
"You're telling about mine. Your hus....."She stops herself from saying further.
She was about to say that Naina's cheeks are also soft soft and certainly her husband also loves to pull her cheeks but stops in the middle about thinking something.
Because she has noticed something that, whenever Sam talked about Sameer's matter with her she gets disturbed. So she decided to let it be.
"What were you going to say, Sam?" Naina asked when she found Sam silent.
"Nothing; I just remembered that I have an important shooting tomorrow. And for that, I have to do a lot of preparation or else my boss will eat me alive. And won't even burp."
Sam said changing the topic. And Naina laughed at her words.
Sam comprehended something that Naina has been hiding something from her.
And the matter would be her matter so she didn't want to interfere in that. Moreover, if she wants then she will share with her; what problem she has in her life.
"Sam, Is there any Krishna Temple anywhere nearby?"
Naina asked her as she didn't find a Krishna Temple here.
"Yes! I visited there many times with Di. And I'll show you where it is. Do you want to see it now or later?" She asked her. And Naina gives a quick reply as she was ready for this.
"Is this even a question? Yes, I do wanna. I searched but didn't find anywhere nearby. I was so sad. But now I'm super happy. Take me there soon."
Naina said excitedly beaming with happiness.
Sam took her there and then both get back to their home as Naina have to reach there before Sameer and also has to make dinner for both of them.
After reaching home Naina took a quick bath as she does not have much time. In such haste, she made poha for both of them.
After making the poha she went to his room to arrange his room and take his used clothes for washing. She always use to wash clothes with her hands.
But today she has less time so she has to use the washing machine. But the cherry on the cake is, that she doesn't know how to use the washing machine.
Suddenly an idea knock into her head and she called Sam to come over to her place and help her with it.
Sam appeared there within a minute. Looking at her Naina made a weird face. As Sam was wearing a crop top with shorts. And her hair was pulled into a messy bun.
"Don't give me that look. I'm comfortable with this. So what's your problem girl?" Sam asked her while raising her one brow and Naina give her an awkward smile.
However, ignoring Naina she begins to teach her how to use a washing machine.
"Yesterday, you were in decent clothes then why....."
Putting the clothes in the washing machine she said to her but leave in between intentionally.
"Yeah yeah. I sometimes wear this type of clothes at home when my brother-in-law is not at home. Cause he doesn't like me to wear such clothes." Rolling her eyes in annoyance she replied.
"He has gone for attending a meeting in Mumbai. So now I'm a free bird." She said dramatically while fluttering her hands like a bird.
And Naina laughs hard at her actions holding her stomach.
Hence, Sameera teaches her how to use a washing machine. And she learns it very attentively.
"As now you have learned so I get going." Saying that she turned to leave. But Naina stopped her by calling her from behind.
She run to her and hugged her tightly.
"We met only yesterday and you have come so close to me, now it seems that we are friends from past lives,"
Naina told her and Sam laughed while hugging her.
"You've helped me a lot. I won't say thanks to you as it's not valid in friendship. But I wish you happiness and success in your life. And your all wishes come true."
Naina said honestly and pulled herself away from her.
"And keep smiling like this." Pointing at her smiling face she prayed.
"Okey, I'm leaving then. Your Kunwar Sa will be back anytime. If by any chance he sees me here then crap! God knows what he will to me."
She said making a horrified face and Naina chuckled seeing her acting.
Sam went back to her house. And Naina served the dinner on the table. And then collect the washed clothes.
After some time, Sameer came back from his office and went to get freshen up.
Getting freshened up Sameer came to the dining table and found his food placed there covered up.
He looked here and there looking for Naina. But Naina was in her room ironing his clothes. She will have her dinner after him so that's why she is doing this work now.
"NAINA." Naina heard her husband's loud voice so switching off the iron she went off after putting the iron safely.
She ran from there holding her veil and stood in front of him.
"What're you doing?" He asked her simply in Hindi.
"I was ironing your clothes. Why; do you want something?" She replied politely in her village tone and asked if he needs something.
"No, I don't need anything. I summon you to ask if you had eaten your dinner or not. If no then eat with me." He told her looking at her covered face.
"Don't bother yourself. I'll have my dinner after you finish yours. I don't know you people here believe it or not but in my village, we married women have food after our husband."
She told him honesty and Sameer rolled his eyes hearing the so-called customs.
"Fuck off the customs and sit with me to have dinner. It's my order. And you have to obey your husband's orders. It's also a custom. Isn't it?" He asked her while folding his arms.
"Pardon!" Arching her brows she exclaimed in a confused tone.
"I didn't understand what you said?" She asked him in her language pretending confused as he talked in English earlier.
It was his trick to catch her. He doubted that she is the one who has been working in his office as his employee. But Naina didn't fall on his strict.
"Nothing. You just come and have dinner with me. It's my order. No more argument."
He said and sit on his usual chair. And Naina chuckled under her veil and smirked making him fool with her counterattack.
Naina sat on the opposite chair of him. And he made a weird face seeing her act.
"How will you eat with this veil?" He asked when he witnessed her eating under her veil.
"I'm used to this." Saying that Naina continued eating.
Naina was very happy. It was a new feeling for her to have a meal with her Kunwar sa. It's the first time that they are together in the dining hall.
This moment is a witness to the new changes happening in their life. Maybe a new start.
