Chapter 7: Chapter 7

" Well, life has a way of surprising us " Bella remarked, her optimism infectious. " Maybe this is your moment "

Ava mulled over Bella's words. Maybe it was her moment, a chance for something new and unexpected. But the uncertainty gnawed at her. What if this encounter led to nothing? What if it was just a fleeting moment in time?

" I'll be here for you no matter what happens, Ava. You know that, right? " Bella's voice softened with genuine care.

Touched by Bella's unwavering support, Ava felt a surge of gratitude. " Thank you, Bella. You're the best friend anyone could ask for "

" Anytime, Ava. Now, go on, think about what this could mean for you. And call me the moment you have any updates! " Bella teased, injecting a note of lightheartedness into the conversation.

Ava chuckled, feeling a bit lighter. " I will, I promise. Thanks again, Bella "

As the call ended, Ava sat back, the whirlwind of emotions slowly settling into a sense of cautious hope. With a newfound optimism, she allowed herself to entertain the possibility that maybe, just maybe, Bryan's unexpected visit could lead to something wonderful. With that thought in mind, she made herself a delicious meal and was about to dish it out when her phone rang. She rolled her eyes, thinking it was Bella and wondered what she wanted. But it was her Mom, Julia. Her eyes widened a bit in surprise as she wondered why her Mom called her.

She hit the receiver button " Hey Mom, how are you? "

Julia sounded cheerful as she answered " Hi baby! I'm great. How is work? "

" Work is fine, Mom " Ava replied, smiling too.

" What's up? Why have you called? " She asked her mother.

Julia of course, ignored her question " And you? Are you okay too? "

Ava sighed " Yes Mom, I'm good. Is something wrong? "

" No " Came Julia's immediate response.

Ava rolled her eyes " So why did you call? "

" I can't call my daughter to say Hello? " Julia fired back.

Ava sighed again, tired of her Mom's drama " Okay Mom, now that you've confirmed that I'm still alive and breathing, can I hang up? I'm famished "

" What about the stuff I asked you for? " Julia questioned.

" Mom, I'll call you when I'm done eating, okay? "

" Make sure you do " Julia said lightly and ended the call.

The click of the door echoed through Bryan's villa as he stepped inside, his mind still consumed by the unexpected visit to Ava's apartment. He tossed his keys onto the table, his heart racing with thoughts of her.

" She's incredible " he muttered to himself, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. The memory of Ava's laughter and the warmth of her presence lingered, refusing to fade.

He paced around the living room, replaying their conversation in his mind. The way her eyes lit up when they talked, the genuine laughter they shared—it was a moment he couldn't shake off.

With a sigh, Bryan sank onto his couch, his mind wandering back to the encounter. He knew he had to see her again, to unravel more of her story, to feel that inexplicable connection once more.

His phone buzzed, snapping him out of his reverie. It was a text from a friend, but even that couldn't distract him from thoughts of Ava. He tapped out a quick reply, his mind still preoccupied with visions of her.

" This isn't just a passing moment " Bryan murmured, running a hand through his hair. He felt a pull, an inexplicable attraction that drew him back to Ava. She was unlike anyone he had met before.

" Stop it Bryan, you're just horny. It's been a while since you were with a woman, alright? " He scolded herself, wanting to erase thoughts of Ava but it seemed impossible.

As the evening descended, Bryan found himself standing by the window, staring at the cityscape bathed in the golden hues of the setting sun. His thoughts drifted to Ava again, her beauty, her smooth and white skin, her intelligence, her magnetic presence, her...

He stopped himself before he lost it completely " Stop it, Bryan. You don't even know her! "

But he wanted to, really. Behind the cold exterior, he knew there was a great woman lying within.

" I have to see her again " he whispered to himself, a newfound determination igniting within him. He craved another chance encounter, another moment in her presence.

With resolve firming in his heart, Bryan decided to take a walk. He needed to clear his mind, but more than anything, he hoped their paths would cross again soon. Maybe fate would bring them together once more.

She was the first woman to act that way with him; other women craved his attention badly but Ava was different. Was that why he was attracted to her? He asked himself but got no answer.

As he strolled through the bustling streets, his thoughts kept drifting back to Ava. He was thinking about her a lot and it was starting to bother him. Maybe he truly needed to f*ck a woman, he thought. It was probably lust he felt towards her. Deciding that he would hit the club soon, he continued walking.

Bryan stopped by the same grocery store where their paths had crossed earlier. It felt oddly comforting to be in a place that linked him to her, a reminder of their unexpected connection.

He perused the aisles, his eyes scanning the shelves, but his mind was elsewhere. Each aisle reminded him of their encounter, and he found himself lost in the memories.

After a while, he resumed his walk, hoping for a chance encounter, a serendipitous moment that would bring Ava back into his world.
