Chapter 37: Chapter 37

XXXIII

"I was thinking, now that I'm out of jail, what if we hired a nurse again? You could be at home, with me. It probably wouldn't be for too long, since you're due soon, but I think that'd be nice, what about you?" I ramble as I attempt to make her braids.

I still haven't asked her about the picture of Natalie she told me about yet. Where could she have found it?

"Auch."

"Sorry, love."

Did I save it somewhere in my things? Why would she go through my things.

I mentally groan. I bet she wanted to clean up my shit.

"I don't know, I guess it would be nice. Hospitals are definitely not on the list of my favourite things. But was it expensive the last time? We can't throw our money around like that anymore till you get back in the game. You know I won't work for a while now because of the baby.".

It's obvious that she's worried. To calm her down, I press a kiss on top of her head and pull her back closer to my torso.

"I know that, and you shouldn't. I was actually thinking, you know, if you were okay with it, that you could be a stay-at-home mom. Maybe you could also go to university, if you wanted to. I mean, you'd have to finish high-school first."

Sophie chuckles and squeezes my thigh. "Okay, okay calm down, big guy. That's enough dreaming for now."

"I'm serious. But for now, let's get you back home, shall we?" I finish her braids and kiss the top of her head."Coach is going to be so happy to see me again." I tell myself sarcastically and Soph's head lifts up.

"What do you mean?"

"Nothing, he was furious when he found me in that bar yesterday. Hope he doesn't hold a grudge, I need him to train me." I tell her, rolling my eyes.

Before she can say anything else, I leave her room, looking for a doctor to arrange a nurse for her.

"Welcome back home, baby." I push her wheelchair into our home. "Let me carry you upstairs."

I stop the wheelchair and carefully take her in my arms, grunting. "Holy fuck, how did you gain so much weight?"

"Hey, I am pregnant! Do not insult me!" she swats at me and I shrug. "Just saying, I hope that the baby doesn't weight 10 kilograms or you might die at the birth."

The nurse, Amy, awkwardly oversteps on her feet.

"He does not weight that much. If it's a problem, put me down and I'll walk." Sophie crosses her arms in annoyance.

"Not a fucking chance."

I grunt through the stairs then cruse at myself. My muscles are my fucking job and I can't even carry my own fucking wife up the stairs?

Girlfriend.

Girlfriend.

Not wife yet.

"Amy, look after her, I gotta make a call." I order her when I put Sophie down. "Gotta call Coach." I tell Sophie and kiss her on top of her head.

"What?!" he barks into the phone as soon as he picks up.

I roll my eyes because he can't see me.

Cranky old son of a bitch.

"I see you're in a good mood." I can't help but comment.

"Get to the fucking point. Why are you calling?" he dismisses my comment.

"Come train me, I'm at home."

He doesn't say anything and a second later I hear beeping that signals he hung up on me.

Son of a fucking bitch. I guess I should've been nicer or something.

Groaning, I call him again. "Come train me, please." I say this time, streaching out the 'please'.

"Why would I? You don't appreciate it or anything."

"I don't know. I'll pay you."

I can hear him sigh on the other end of the line. "I don't need the fucking money, Axel."

"Then why don't you want to train me anymore?"

"Cuz you don't respect me, boy. Go find someone else who is worth your respect." he says and hungs up again.

Who the fuck-

I barely restrain myself from throwing the phone at the wall.

That son of a bitch, he's back to being know because of me and that's how he acts?

I don't need his ass, I'll train myself.

Quickly I jog downstairs into the gym, ignoring the panic of losing him. I can do this myself.

I set the timer and begin punching the bag, trying to immitate his voice in my head.

See, this is not so bad. To hell with respect.

An hour later doorbell rings.

Did he change his mind?

Unsure how to feel about that, I reluctantly approach the door, slowly opening it.

"Daniel?" Sophie's father fakes a smile in return. "Axel."
