Chapter 9: Chapter 9

"You're a young woman! You should be on the search to find a good husband and not here, interfering with men doing business!" An old board member of the MBC Bank and Finance pointed out as he stared at Maeve who was calmly seated on the center of the conference room.

Maeve was just passively listening to his rants while staring back at him with a cold and bored look on her face.

"You'll just ruin the business! Business should be handled by men! Women are supposed to be staying at home, taking care of the kids---"

"That's bullshit." She was rude enough to butt in her curses while the man had been rumbling about nonsensical things.

Maeve stood up from her chair and walk up to the man with her icy stares never leaving him.

"I think you're forgetting something here Mr. Johns." The old man's forehead started to form creases when he heard what she said.

"My mom was the one who build this empire. I don't know how you see my mom but I'm pretty sure she's a woman." Other members of the board snickered with her attempt to humor the misogynistic comments of the old man.

She crossed her arms in front of the silenced man. As she faced the man who was probably almost thirty years older than her, with an outstanding coldness and indifference.

"Maybe you forgot that she's the one who put you on your position now," she said as she took a step closer to him.

"She's the one who filled your pockets and bank accounts first," another step closer to the old guy and he, unknowingly took a step back not realizing that a chair was placed behind him. He stumbled against the large swivel chair before he end up on the ground, looking up to the woman he keeps on insulting just a few moments ago.

"So I really don't understand where that comments and thoughts are coming from. What's wrong with women working outside the house? What's wrong with women handling businesses?" Her questions were directed to everyone inside the conference room and not just to that poor old man who was still pitifully placed on the floor.

"I wanted to give out respect to everyone since you are all my seniors and I admit that you have more experiences in handling the business. I respect you, and I'm hoping you return the favor because I'm no pushover." She looked down and stared at the man who was still stuck in predicament on what he should do to escape this scene unscathed.

"If you're not comfortable with the way I handle things in my company, then please know that the door is open for you to leave. No one is stopping you to do so." She said as she scanned her eyes along the long table occupied by more or less fifteen to twenty people.

"That applies to everyone. The company doesn't need people who doesn't have any faith and trust to the leader." The whole room was quiet for a while, she was waiting for more complaints and violent reactions but when the crowd before her remained silent, she turned her attention back to Mr. Johns.

"What are you waiting for?" She asked with a tone that letting everyone know what would be of Mr. Johns after leaving the room.

Maeve's irritation grew when the old man didn't move a bit.

"Are you waiting for me to call the security to drag you out of here?" The old man hurriedly pulled himself together as he stood up in a rush, rejecting the idea of a bigger embarrassment for being dragged out of the office.

As the other members of the board watched the old man staggering as he made his way out, one thing had been made clear for everybody.

Maeve Miller is not someone to be messed with.

This beautiful woman whose beauty captivates all types of men and made them want to protect is not one of those damsels in fairytale books. She was not the type to run away nor cry her eyes out when something goes wrong. Nope, she was not that type of a woman.

She doesn't need a man to protect her and her kingdom. She's like a vicious queen who rule her kingdom in an uptight and iron-fisted way.

A little while later, Maeve's secretary went inside the room.

"Buy off Mr. Johns shares. If he won't agree then we'll be resulting to having another meeting solely for voting if he should remain in the company. It was pretty obvious that his loyalty doesn't lies here in MBC at all." She said in a normal voice, letting everyone hear her.

"Anyone with questions? Violent reactions?" She asked as she gave each of the board members lingering stares, but everyone just exchanged wary looks before they shook their heads almost at the same time.

"Good. Meeting adjourned." Maeve announced before she picked up her netbook on the table and took the initiative to leave first.

What happened during the board meeting in the MBC reached September's ears in no time. And once again, he was amuse as to how that woman handle such situations.

Well, she was able to settle more than half of the debts of her company in just three months after she started handling it. Setting a new record in the business sector, so this kinds of situations are probably just child's play to her.

September's face was laced with a proud smirk while Falcon layed out what happened inside that conference room.

The butler was at loss of words when he saw his boss closing the laptop in front of him and did the same to the financial booklet he was recently reading.

"She's still at her office?" He asked. Good thing Falcon was quick-witted and so there's no need to name drop who September was referring to.

"Yes, sir."

"Great. I'll be having my lunch in her office." He said before he went out of his office first, his butler behind him, calling someone to prepare a luncheon for his boss and for the future lady-boss.
