Chapter 10: Chapter 10

"I hope you're not just planning to just put that Johns on exile, right?" September inquired as he busy himself filling Maeve's plate with the lunch Falcon had prepared for them.

Maeve took her eyes off the files she was reading and directed her attention to September with a smirk.

"What do you think?" She asked menacingly. September stared at her face for a while before he chuckled and smoothly pushed the disposable plate towards her.

"Alright. Good thing that you had some plans to deal with him or else, I would have stepped in." He said as he subtly keep her working aids aside. Her eyes darted towards him when she realized what he was doing but he just showed her his sheepish smile before he gestured for her to eat.

Maeve rolled her eyes but still took the food and started filling herself. Satisfied that she's already eating, September started to dig into his own food too.

"Sir! You can't---" both of their attention was snatched away by the loud commotion coming from outside Maeve's office, followed by a sudden and rude opening of her door.

"Come here you useless bitch!" Mr. Johns entered the office with an obviously enraged expression on his face.

"How dare you meddle with my business?!" he spatted not realizing who was with Maeve at that time.

Maeve's expression didn't even bulge which made the old man feel more infuriated. She just solemnly put down her utensils before she looked up from her seated position. Watching her stop eating didn't sit well with September though.

"Continue eating," he said in a casual and yet loud voice enough to steal the old man's attention.

Mr. Johns thought that he looked kind of familiar but then he settled with the idea of September being just one of the newbies in the business society since he looked young.

"Look at you! Talking big and proud about how much you don't need a man in your life but here you are keeping one!" He said in a mocking tone.

"Who are you?" September asked in a cold tone, all the warmth in his face vanished in an instant as he faced one of the people who tried to scheme behind Maeve's back.

"It's none of your business, boy!" Mr. Johns said dismissively before he went back to talking nonsensical things and blurting out eternal curses directed to Maeve who seems to not care a bit about him.

Maeve and September exchange knowing glances before Maeve nodded at him, a confirmation that says that he can have the old man tormented in his own way. With a smirk on his face, September stood up from his seat and confidently faced the old man. His rear rested on Maeve's table while his hands were cockily stuck inside his pockets.

"What's your name?" he repeated without any ounce of respect in his tone.

"Who the hell are you to talk to me like that?!" Mr. Johns was livid with the tone these youngsters were using towards him. He was even more irritated as he realized that Maeve just went back to eating her lunch as she watched the scene before her unfold with an amused expression on her face.

September's smirk grew wider as he realized how clueless this man is. He didn't even know that messing with his woman means that he had already messed up with his life.

"Well, maybe this could help you recognize me?" he said before he called out his butler's name.

Some people may not know how he looks like but everyone in the city, especially those among the business sectors knew about the notorious butler.

Falcon Montenegro is a name that was also feared in the city. Having him around only means two things, Mr. Thorne wanted to do business with you, which would mean like you had hit the jackpot or, your life would be totally doomed since Mr. Thorne had sent him to teach you a lesson.

Hearing the familiar name of the well-known butler almost sent the old man to the edge but seeing that large framed man with a blank expression entered the room, he immediately connected the dots.

His eyes widened as he returned his gaze back at the man who was staring at him with one of his brows raised in a mocking way.

"I guess you can tell me your name now?" He asked in a challenging tone as he took out his hands from his pocket before he shifted into a new position where his arms were crossed in front of his chest.

Maeve was busy eating her lunch as she watched the funny scene in front of her. Mr. Johns' color-drained face was pretty obvious as he stared at September with his eyes still wide open like saucers.

'Just what the hell was September Thorne doing with this vixen?!' He thought to himself as his eyes danced back and forth from Maeve who was gracefully chewing her lunch and to September who was scrutinizing him.

There were rumors that there was this woman who had the great manipulator captivated. He didn't believe it not until today. The image of a lovely couple that he saw after barging in the office came into him.

Maeve just caused his business to fail and now it seems like he had offended the great manipulator. Just how can the heavens allow such a pair to be together?!

It was like being hit by this powerful duo means an immediate KO. Maeve was a strong-minded and cunning woman while September Thorne was... September Thorne. There was not even a word enough to describe his power over the city. And now that it seems like they really got together, the city was totally under the tyrant of this two!

"Falcon," September called out, his eyes never leaving the old man.

"Mr. Walter Johns, sixty-three years old, with three children, remarried thrice and is currently the owner of the J&J Co." Falcon recited which made Mr. Johns even paler than he is already.

"J&J Co.?" He repeated as he looked at Maeve sideways.

"Do you want that?" Maeve acted as if thinking before she shook her head.

"I don't want to handle a weak business. It only took me half a day to tear it apart. I'll just watched by the sidelines, it's yours to play with." She said nonchalantly before taking in the last piece of the grilled pork she was eating.
