Chapter 53: Chapter 53
"You look tense, sir." Falcon pointed out as he gave September a quick glance at the backseat.
They were now on the way back to his house.
His home.
"You're really not a part of this?" September asked suspiciously for the nth time.
Falcon chuckled and shook his head as his eyes remained on the road.
"For the nth time, I wasn't. I'm not aware of this play your wife had set up, okay? Besides even though she did inform me about this, I would still say it to you. My loyalty's with you and not with your wife." September just smirked at the butler's sneaky response.
He took a deep breath when he finally saw his house from a distance. He don't know what to expect. Would they act like before? Would it be awkward?
"We're here," Falcon stopped the car in front of the huge house before looking at his boss through the mirror.
September gazed outside the window, he nervously took a deep breath before sighing exasperatedly.
He glared at his butler when he heard him chuckle while watching him.
"You looked more tense today than ever."
"I'm reuniting with my family!"
"Yeah. It's a million dollar deal, sir." Falcon said, still chuckling.
September just rolled his eyes and told the butler to go home already.
"Good luck, Sir!" Falcon playfully said before taking the car out once again.
September took a deep breath before finally stepping inside the house again. He can hear Fiona's voice nearby.
"Mommy, why do we have lots of foods today?" September paused for awhile as he listened to the most important women of his life.
"It's because your Daddy's coming home tonight,"
"Really? Really, Mommy?" He almost chuckled when he heard his wife chuckled. Fiona probably run around her by now.
"Yes, princess. Now, help me fix the table so that when Daddy came everything is already set, okay?"
"Okay!" He heard his daughter cheerfully responded before he heard utensils and plates being arranged on the dining table.
He decided to make his presence known by clearing his throat while leaning on the kitchen's door frame.
Maeve and Fiona almost turned to him at the same time, making him chuckle.
"Daddy!" Fiona greeted as she carefully left the table to run towards him.
"Hello my princess," he greeted back with a smile before pecking on her small cheeks. He then walked over to Maeve who remained standing by the kitchen top. He still have their daughter on his hands as he leaned a bit and kissed her forehead.
Maeve almost closed her eyes as September's achingly familiar scent evaded her nostrils. She felt the slight stinging on the corner of her eyes as she immediately felt tired from everything.
"Hello my queen," she heard him whispered.
She unconsciously held on to the hem of the poloshirt he was wearing, making him smile wider.
Somebody missed him terribly. He thought to himself, as he circled his arm on her waist to pull her closer.
The three of them was packed in a tight embrace. Maeve's face was buried on her husband's broad chest while his hands gently caressed her back. Fiona circled her little arms around her father's neck as she confusedly stared at her mom.
"Is she alright Dad?" She whispered but Maeve chuckled when she heard it. She raised her face to look at their adorable daughter. She smiled as she gently and playfully pinch her nose.
"Come'n! Let's eat first," Maeve said afterwards. The trio went back to their table and took their usual seats. Maeve first filled their plates before hers with a smile. How she missed doing that!
The dining room was once again lit up with laughter after three months of being embraced with dullness.
They say the mother should be the light of a family. But Maeve knew better, September was her light. Her guide. Without him, she'll probably lost her way.
"Daddy you won't go away anymore? You don't need to be somewhere else anymore?" Fiona asked as they tucked her to bed.
September met Maeve's eyes. She smiled at him before directing their gaze back to the child.
"No more, baby. Daddy's going to stay here with us," she said earning a relieved sigh from the child.
"Mommy's sad when you were away, Daddy." Both adults were shocked after Fiona dropped the statement.
Maeve had no idea how this little girl saw it through her. She tried her very best to smile and interact with her like the usual. She had no idea, this was how the child sees her.
"Really?" September asked with his eyes fixed on his wife.
"She smiles so much but her eyes were always tearing. And she almost always cooks your favorite dishes and wear your clothes while sleeping." Maeve was taken aback when she heard her daughter's words. How can a child saw through that actions?
Fiona sat on her bed and put her small arms around September's nape.
"Don't go away, Daddy. Mommy and I would be crying," Maeve had to look away to stop her tears from flowing. The scene before her was so pure and heart-wrenching.
"Yes, princess. Daddy's going nowhere now. I'll stay with you." September said as he kissed Fiona's forehead and once again tucked her to bed. It didn't take long before the child fell asleep.
Maeve was the first one to get off Fiona's bed and walked out of the room. September silently followed her to their room after closing their daughter's door.
The room was awfully quiet with Maeve sitting on their bed, eyes on him who was leaning behind their closed door.
September sighed and opened his arms wide.
"Come here, it's been tough on---" before he can even finished speaking, his wife was already on his arms.
"I missed you," she whispered as tears slowly cascaded down her face.
"I really, really, really miss you..." She said while sobbing. September silently caressed her back while continuously kissing the top of her head.
"I'm sorry for everything, I'm sorry. I love you." She keeps on saying between her sobs.
She remained strong for months. She was able to stand firm in front of everyone and she was able to face those heartless bastards who wanted to kill this man she was hugging.
She was able to do all of that and yet, now that she's back into his arms again, she suddenly felt weak and tired from all of the recent events.
"It's okay, hon. It's alright. I'm here now. Shh. It's alright." He keeps on whispering as he carried her to their bed.
He carefully laid her back on the bed. He was about to laid down beside her when she suddenly caught his collar. He looked at her with confused eyes.
"I love you, September." She said before her hand reaches the back of his head. In a blink of an eye, the crying couple was now hungrily exchanging fiery kisses.
