Chapter 51: Chapter 51
September was busy towing the soil in the garden when he heard the familiar sound of a car parking in front of the apartment.
With a smile, he took off his gloves and washed his hands before leaving the garden to open the door after the doorbell rang.
"Daddy!" Fiona squealed cheerfully as she jumped into her father's arm.
"How's my princess?" September asked sweetly after the child rained his face with tiny kisses.
"I missed you soooo bad!" September chuckled with her antics before he turned his attention to the woman who brought his daughter back to visit him again.
"And what excuse did you use this time?" He asked Celeste after Fiona's attention was suddenly stolen by Terius, the golden retriever he adopted a month ago.
"Nah. I just took her from your house. Maeve was out for a meeting and only the hired nanny was there to keep an eye on her." September gaped at his friend after hearing that she just took Fiona without asking permission from Maeve.
She'll probably get worried!
"Why did you do that?" He asked trying to tone down his voice before he gave Fiona amd Terius a glance to make sure that the child wasn't listening.
"Do what?" Celeste asked. She was a bit perflexed with her friends sudden reaction.
"Why did you take her without asking permission from Maeve? She'll get worried---" he halted when Celeste sighed heavily as she shook her head disappointingly while staring at him.
"I thought you've moved on," she said after a while of silence between them.
"When did I ever say I'll move on?" Celeste's forehead creased after hearing that from her friend.
"And what was that supposed to mean?" She asked but September smiled at her as if he knows something that she didn't.
"September! She took everything from you! All your hard earned properties were taken in a snap of a finger! The woman you love is a gold digging bitch September!"
"Stop talking about my wife like that, Celeste." He warned seriously. He doesn't like it whenever someone tries to taint his wife's name.
"September! Wake up! Can't you see your life now?!" Celeste stood up in the heat of their discussion as her tone started to rise. She was expecting him to be aggressive with words too but she was taken a back when he just smiled at her as he shook his head gently.
"I know my wife, Celeste." He said
Her friend was going crazy. Now she's sure of that.
"September! When will you ever---"
"Do you think she didn't know you've been taking Fiona here with me?" He asked, cutting off whatever argument she was about to say.
"I may be a master of manipulation, Celeste. But my wife's a smart woman. She wouldn't let Fiona go back and forth here if she really meant everything she said before Celeste."
Celeste stared at her friend for a while before she sighed exasperatedly and drop her body back to the couch.
"And who told you that---"
"I just realized it. There's been loopholes you see?" He butted in with his brow raised.
"First, Fiona." He said as his gaze directed at his daughter who was busy laughing as his pet chased her.
"Fiona might be a Daddy's girl but her loyalty would always be with her mom. Who knows what she says everytime they're alone together?" He said with a smile before he gazed back at his friend who was now intently staring back at him.
"Next, the divorce papers. Celeste, it's almost three months since she told me that she's filing a divorce," he said with a taunting smile as he stare at his friends face.
"But I wonder how busy the lawyers must be since I haven't received any divorce papers yet?" Celeste's expression shifted a bit but it immediately went back to being neutral, too bad, the manipulator already saw it.
He chuckled and carelessly rested his back on the couch with a soft thud.
"And the give away was this apartment. This is like her biggest clue to me, I don't know why I haven't noticed it immediately." He said silently mocking himself for being slow-witted.
"What was that supposed to mean?" She asked.
"Falcon told me that she took everything away from me and the only thing she left under my name was this apartment," he said with a smile.
"But thinking about it now, this was never mine to begin with." He said as he sideway glanced at his friend.
"This was Maeve's apartment. How can this be under my name?" Celeste's lips parted.
Damn, Maeve! He totally got us there!
Meanwhile, Maeve massaged her forehead gently before closing her eyes tightly. She was feeling nauseated again.
"Damn, hormones." She said as she craved to eat something else once again.
She caressed her still flat stomach and started to think what she wanted to eat.
"What do you want this time baby?" She asked as if her child can answer her.
It's been a week when she found out that she was pregnant. Remus had to rushed her to the hospital when she suddenly lost consciousness while they were polishing their last move before getting rid of the Kims.
She was beyond shock knowing that a life was now growing inside her. At first she felt scared and then she felt happy. Extremely happy.
She was carrying September's child.
Their baby.
She smiled at the thought.
"Pregnant women are really creepy," she immediately glared at Remus who just entered her office. But she beamed instantly as soon as she saw the box of pizza he was holding.
She texted him awhile ago to bring one since he was on the way to see her anyway.
"Wow. Are you that hungry?" Remus asked quickly blinking as he watched his once elegant friend devouring a large sized pizza alone.
"I'm not the only one eating," she reasoned out before resuming to eat.
"Why are you here anyway?" She asked as she drank from her water bottle.
"Celeste texted me," he said as he sat on her couch.
"And?"
"Your husband figured it out already," Maeve was about to devour another slice of pizza but she put it down when she heard Remus's words.
She stopped to think for a while before a smile started to appear on her face.
"Then tell him to wait a bit more. Tell him it's almost over," she said before she returned her attention in feeding the little bean inside her.
