Chapter 49: Chapter 49
Falcon's expression changed after hearing September's words. The coordinator didn't know what to do as he cluelessly stared at the two powerful men.
"Please do announce that the wedding is canceled," September said as he shifts his attention to the coordinator.
He saw the coordinator's lips parted in shock before he nodded and went back to the arranged area.
"What's inside the envelope?" September asked after they were left alone.
"Your properties that had been transferred to Maeve's name." September stared at him as if asking what's wrong with that.
"All of your properties, September. Everything. She left you with nothing but a complex apartment in the city."
"What?"
"Yes, September. Your wife took everything from you." Falcon said with a serious expression.
Meanwhile, Maeve was pacing back and forth in their bedroom. Her eyes were stinging as she held the phone in her hands.
September must have received the news about his properties.
Earlier, as she answered her husband's call, she was struggling so hard not to let her voice break even though her tears keeps on running down her face.
Today was supposed to be their wedding day. She, of all people knew how much September looks forward to this day. She was also looking forward to this day, but after everything she have been doing behind September's back, she started to detest this day.
She was just hoping that September loved her enough to trust her and to carry on with the pain she would caused him.
Just hang on a bit, hon.
She sighed when the phone on her hand rang. She immediately answered the call as she sat on their bed, trying to calm herself.
"The wedding had been cancelled." Another teardrop fell from her eyes when she heard her informant's words.
"How is he? Is... Is he okay?"
"He's currently talking to his butler. He seems... fine." She smiled amidst her tearstained face after hearing that her husband looked fine.
That was so September. Calm and collected. But she was sure that a chaos was happening inside of him. And it pained her that it was her who caused it.
"How's the Kims?"
"I've been keeping an eye on them and they're still not making any move since they haven't heard about the transferring of assets."
"What?! Let them know! What if they'd do something to harm my husband?!" She interjected.
Maeve was immediately filled with angst and worry after hearing that their enemy wasn't aware yet that she was now holding the power of the whole empire.
"Relax--"
"Shut up, Remus! I'm doing all of this to keep my husband safe! If he would be put in any danger because of you, goofing around, I swear! I'll be the one to kill you!" She threatened her informant before hanging up.
Remus had been her informant about September eversince. He was one of the acquaintances she acquired while playing drag race years ago. He stumbled into him while September was wooing her and due to her curiosity, she asked the guy to help her about the manipulator.
Her eyes wandered towards the wedding gown that was displayed by the wide window.
"How I wished I was able to wear you today," she muttered to herself as she gently touched the soft cottony-like bottom part of the gown.
"Mommy!" Maeve forced a smile to welcome her daughter home.
The child was still wearing the fairy gown she had custom made for her supposedly flower girls.
As Fiona babbled about her day, Maeve's eyes coldly shifted to the man behind her.
"You can go now," she said blankly.
"Go where?" He asked in a low voice so the child wouldn't hear them.
Maeve sighed and gave Fiona the sweetest smile.
"You should change, little fairy. Wash up your face too, you'll be a witch in no time because of those eyeliners." Maeve suggested enthusiastically which made the child racing towards her room.
"You can go now," Maeve coldly dismissed him right after Fiona entered her room.
"Go where? This is our house, Maeve."
"No. This is my house now. I already sent you the address of your new house."
"Why are you doing this to me, Maeve?" September asked, his voice reflected how much pain he was feeling.
"It's alright that you take everything from me. I don't care! But why on our wedding day? Of all days, Maeve. Of all days, why today?" He asked with his eyes reddening.
"Atleast just let me stay with you. You can take everything, just let me stay with you. Hmm?" He said with that weary expression as he tried to took a step towards his wife.
But Maeve immediately stopped him from coming any closer by pushing his chest away.
"Because we can no longer be together..." Maeve said which broke September's heart even more.
"Why? We love each other---" his words were cut off after hearing Maeve's sinister laugh. She was laughing so hard that tears started to form below her eyes.
"God September! You're too pathetic! You actually believed that I loved you? You know how much I hated you before. How can you think that I'll fall for you?"Maeve asked with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
"No. You love me. I can feel it! You made me feel it!" September said as a lone tear escape his eyes.
Maeve had to fight back the urge to take back everything she had said when she saw that tear.
I'm sorry, hon. I'm sorry.
"Wow! I should be awarded as the best actress then? I fooled the great manipulator!" She said clapping her hands with a gleeful smile on her face.
She took a step closer to him and whispered to his ears.
"I entered your life with only one intention, September. To end you." She then took a few steps away from him. But she made sure that their eye contact would not be cut off.
"I'm filing a divorce, September." And just right then, September felt like he lost everything.
