Chapter 55: Chapter 55

●Daniel's P.O.V.●

Officer Jung searched for something in his pocket as he was in clear shock. I noticed him pulling out his phone and calling someone.

"Hello. Detective Han."

"Yes... I just wanted to know about the kidnapper we caught a couple of days ago. Is he still there?"

We all stared at Officer Jung as he talked to someone on his phone. But soon, he disconnected the call and glanced at me.

"He is still there." Officer Jung said while putting his phone back into his suit pocket.

"Then we can say there are two persons with the same faces who are working for the same gang. " I explained my theory.

"I am suspecting the same." Officer Jung answered.

"But now, how to find him?" Ray questioned Officer Jung.

"It is a big gang if I am suspecting the right thing. And we need to set a trap to catch those human traffickers together." Officer Jung replied while fixing his eyes on the laptop screen.

Suddenly a phone rang. It was Yoonah's. She apologised and went out to take the call. The remaining people concentrated on setting a plan to catch them and rescue Nuri.

Yoonah came back in 5 minutes and said, "I'm sorry, but I need to return to my home. My parents are worried for me."

"It's fine. And thank you for the help" I thanked Yoonah as I was grateful to Yoonah. Without her help, we couldn't have come this far.

"Don't thank me. It was my duty.

I am sorry for leaving like this but keep me updated, please. I'll visit here tomorrow morning again." Yoonah bowed and said.

"Okay."

With that, Yoonah left.

"Has that man in prison told you about his gang or something?" I asked, turning my head to officer Jung.

"He didn't. We tried to ask him, even beat him, but still, he didn't say a word about his gang." Officer Jung said with a disappointed face.

"It looks like they are a strong gang. " Ray said.

"They are.

Since last year girls under 20 were going missing without a trace. And we knew something was fishy.

Recently we got to know there is a gang that is kidnapping girls who are under 20.

And transporting them to another country illegally.

But they work so perfectly that we couldn't even find proof until you called us to arrest that guy." Officer Jung explained.

But I was in deep thought again after hearing, kidnapping humans and selling them in a different country. My heart almost stopped when I imagined Nuri being their captive.

"Daniel Hyung?!" Ray's voice brought me back to reality.

I breathed heavily as I said, "We need to find a way to catch them as soon as possible!!"

"You are right, Mr. Kim. Because the human traffickers don't keep the girls for long." Officer Jung added.

"But how?" Ray asked.

"If this person inside the prison is from the same gang, we can set a trap using him," I said.

"Do you have any plans?" Officer Jung glanced at me with his curious eyes.

"I do." I declared.

*************

I came back to the apartment with Ray. As we entered the elevator, all I could think of was Nuri. I didn't have any idea how the kidnappers were treating her.

The elevator stopped at the 5th floor, and we got off it. I guided Ray to my apartment. And as I tried to unlock my door, I realised it wasn't locked.

I remembered I didn't lock it before going out to find Nuri.

"Oh, it seems like you forgot to lock your apartment.

You're lucky no one noticed it." Ray said.

I didn't answer and just went inside, twisting the doorknob.

"Woah, Daniel Hyung, you're rich," Ray said while analysing my apartment.

"You didn't seem this rich, though." Ray walked to the couch and sat down while studying the whole apartment.

I went to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water. Then I poured another glass of water for Ray and walked to the living room.

"Are you not going to leave today?" I asked, offering the glass of water to Ray, "You came back from Jeju today. You must be tired."

Ray accepted the glass and gulped a large amount of water.

"Not so tired to find Nuri." Ray blurted out, but soon, he realised what he said. He placed the glass on the table and tried to justify his words, "I mean, we all are worried about her."

I heaved a sigh as I took a seat on another small couch.

"You don't have to hide it now. We both know you like Nuri." I crossed my arms over my chest.

Ray coughed, hearing my sentence. I guessed that he was still embarrassed about the kiss.

"How much do you love her?" I asked out of curiosity.

Ray's eyes widened.

Then he licked his lips and lowered his head, staring at the floor.

"I don't know. " Ray answered.

"Can you wait for her your whole life?" I asked again.

Ray glanced up with his confused eyes.

"What do you mean?"

I averted my gaze to the place where Nuri and I were arguing over marriage.

"Today, I proposed to her," I said.

"To marry you?" Ray's voice seemed shocked.

"Yes."

I wanted Nuri to stay beside me forever." I stopped.

"Let me say that again.

I was scared that Nuri would leave me someday like others. That's why I wanted to keep her caged with that marriage." I smiled bitterly.

Ray didn't say anything. He just stared at me blankly. I didn't know if he could understand my situation. Though, my situation was not understandable. I was being selfish because, in the past, the people I loved abandoned me.

"But I shouldn't have judged Nuri with them at the same parameter." I thought while staring at the ceiling, controlling my tears.

I looked down again, " But this time, after rescuing Nuri, I will wait for her.

Until she decides to choose me to live with her forever.

I will wait even if it's for my whole life."

"But what if I couldn't find her?"

I licked my lips and gulped as I felt goosebumps all over my body.

"Daniel shi!" Ray yelled.

I glanced at him.

"Don't you dare, saying that again? We are going to find her. Anyhow!

Besides that, haven't you thought of a master plan to catch those Human traffickers? It will do, I promise!

And after rescuing her, we'll party together at your house!" Ray assured me with his encouraging tone.

Without realising, I felt encouraged by Ray's words. I realised why Nuri always said that Ray is a great friend of hers. Ray was indeed a great friend.

Suddenly we heard a phone ringing. Ray stood up from the couch.

"Is it your phone? " Ray asked while checking his phone.

I checked my phone, but it wasn't ringing.

"Not mine. " I answered.

"Not mine either." Ray shrugged.

"Then who is it? Do you live with ghosts who use a phone?" Ray asked.

I stared at him with my annoyed expression.

"Just a guess." Ray chuckled.

"Wait. I think I found the phone." Ray leaned and pulled out a phone under a cushion on the couch.

"This phone is ringing." Ray showed me a phone which wasn't mine. But then I realised it was Nuri's phone.

"Oh, Crap! It's Nuri's phone." I screamed.

"What ?" Ray yelled.

"Give it to me." I snatched the phone out of Ray's hands and saw the name on the screen showed, "Crazy sis."

And the ringing stopped. I almost forgot Nuri's mother called her every day. Even her sister called her that day in Jeju.

"Who was calling?"

"It was her sister. Her family members call her frequently. Oh Gosh! What am I going to do now?" I massaged my temple.

"Just don't answer it! You can't do anything." Ray suggested.

"They will be worried for her. " I said.

"Then what are you going to do now?" Ray asked while resting his hands on his waist.

The phone rang again.

"Is she calling Again? Her sister?"

I hummed, then pressed the red option and dragged it to a message option saying, "can't talk right now. Call you later."

"Did you just send her a text saying, 'Can't talk right now? Call you later." Ray asked.

"Yes. If Nuri wouldn't answer her phone, her parents would become tensed, thinking something is not right. But this text will assure them that Nuri is fine but busy.

It will buy us some time too." I explained.

"Woah... You're a genius, Hyung!" Ray said while staring at me.
