Chapter 84: Chapter 84

Diana opened her eyes as soon as the mild fragrance of flowers hit her olfactory bulbs. Opening her eyes, the first thing she saw was the sun that was staring back at her from the horizon. His bright red color was now faded to orange. Tears welled up in her eyes as just like her it seemed to lose all its spark and spirit and appeared dull and weary.

Averting her eyes, she then looked around only to find the verdant grass, the exotic flowers which had also started withering, the snow-covered mountain which didn’t look appealing as usual, and the huge, lush valleys that were staring at her in sorrow. The birds weren’t chirping either as if they all were silently grieving for the injustice which had happened to her.

Diana sighed and dropped her bleak eyes to the ground unable to look at the gifts of God sharing her grief when she felt a cold touch on her neck. She looked down only to find the heart-shaped pendant strung in a gold chain that Zachary had gifted on her birthday resting on her cleavage, just above her heart.

Grabbing it, she gently removed it and again looked at the sun that was about to dissolve itself in the ocean of darkness.

“Don’t feel bad. It was my fate.” She spoke with a dry smile that didn’t meet her eyes.

“I am happy that the Queen Mother finally get her children back. Jasmine would reconcile with her family and will get the happiness that she had always craved. I only feel bad for Rose but I know she wouldn’t have been able to live without Jasmine. I am not at all guilty of my decision and neither I would change it.” She said and then looked at the gold pendant.

A tear trickled down her eyes, “At least he would be happy.”

Saying that she dropped the gold chain on the ground and stepped back.

The pendant soon started evaporating in the air just like her past. Not able to watch it any longer, she simply closed her eyes but her mind brought back the sweet memories she had cherished with Zachary turning her maudlin.

“You don’t have to worry. Just close your eyes and believe in your Zac, right sweetheart?”

“And why not my itty-bitty cute kitty?”

“I am all yours, love just like you’re mine.”

“You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen in my life. If you give me a chance Princess Diana, I promise to cherish you, protect you, and love you till the last breath of my life. I just want you to trust me. I want to make you mine but not at the point of tears or scars but at the cost of your consent and love. So, I ask you today, do you willingly take me as your husband?”

Opening her eyes, she swallowed the tears and continued smiling through her pain.

“We were never meant to be together. But it’s all right, at least you’re safe.” Diana spoke and looked around while recalling the day she met with Zachary for the first time.

“Our love story began from here and today it will end here itself.” Saying that she dropped her cape on the ground that was drenched with the magical potion Delphyne had sprinkled on her.

Yes, Diana knew everything yet she didn’t stop her.

As soon as those drops made contact with the ground, the small tendrils spattered in the grass immediately caught fire and were reduced to ashes. Diana watched how the air abruptly turned chilly and the orange hues sprawled in the sky started getting replaced with fluffy clouds. The sun gained back its brilliance and soar up in the sky.

Closing her eyes, Diana extended her hands and took a big whiff of the fresh air. The melody of birds rang in her ears and the sweet odor of jasmines and roses wafted in the air, pacifying her.

Contented, she opened her eyes but this time her ocean eyes weren’t calm. Instead, a storm was brewing in them. They held rage and a fire of vengeance. The benign smile was nowhere on her face instead her expression was grim and dour

Raising her hand, Dian gently placed it on her stomach which once carried her joy but now had turned barren just like her life. Caressing it gently, she continued glowering at the sun, her eyes brimmed with tears of contempt and hatred.

“Stay happy and safe Zachary. I wish the same for your family too but do me a favor. Never show your face to me.”

Her voice shook in fury. Her chest tightened and her throat turned heavy but she didn’t let a single tear leave her eye. She held them just as she held her wrath.

“I will never forgive the ones who snatched my child from me and who were equally involved in it. Be it, Theodore, be it you, or be it, anyone. I know you’re not at fault but you both are the reason why my baby isn’t alive and this gives me equal rights to despise you. I had guessed your mother’s move because I was tired of living my life in the web of lies that you’ve weaved around me, Zac. I was equally responsible for your condition that’s why I sacrificed my child and burnt my happiness but now no more. I might forgive you someday but the man I hate the most is you, Moon Prince. You backstabbed me. You left my hand when I needed you the most. I am happy that Rose got saved from a spineless man like you who couldn’t stand for right. I will definitely move on but I’ll pray to God to never cross our paths.” Diana spoke, not caring about the scorching rays burning her face. Instead, she relished the pain as that was nothing in comparison to the scars that she had buried deep down her heart.

“I swore on my dead child today that I would never return to your life. And for that, if I hate you then let it be.” Saying that she swallowed her tears and continued glaring at the sun who let her empty all the pent-up anger that she had bottled in.

“Diana?”

Diana was snapped back to reality when she heard Rose’s distant voice from behind. Schooling her expression, she turned around and ran to her.

“Coming.”
