Chapter 76: Chapter 76
Zachary’s words came as a shock to both Diana and Theodore.
Jasmine’s face beamed with happiness. Nodding vigorously, she ran to Zachary like a child only to be pulled back by a terrified Theodore.
Clutching her arm, he coiled his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to his chest before looking at Zachary.
“S-Sister? Don’t play with me, Zachary. You can leave with your wife and Rose but leave my wife out of this. She isn’t going anywhere.” He snapped at him but Jasmine could hear his erratic heartbeat.
He looked scared and that too of her leaving him?
What an irony!
Zachary smirked and moved forward. He grabbed her hand and peeled her away from him.
“Wife? Don’t make me laugh, Theodore. Yeah, sure she is your wife whom you had never given the place she deserved. Have some shame man and to clear your doubts, yes, she is my sister. The eldest daughter of the Binanzun Dynasty and the rightful owner of not only Hell but also Heaven. She is neither a swindler nor a fucking peasant.” He said while grinding his molars.
Approaching an ashen Theodore in three big strides, Zachary grabbed him by his collar and pulled him closer to his face.
“You have fooled everyone enough Theodore, not anymore. Your game is over, people have seen how black your soul is. After all, you have Elijah’s blood in your veins, you are bound to betray people and play with their feelings. Because you only know how to snatch, not cherish what you have. You would never understand the meaning of selfless love or dedication to your partner. How come your love suddenly pop up for the girl whom you had criticized your whole life? She was an embarrassment to you; your parents considered her a stigma then why are you now so desperate to keep her by your side?” He sneered.
Zagan also stood beside Zachary and supported him, “His love didn’t bloom, Zac. When he saw Jasmine happy with a guy, it bruised his ego. The green-eyed monster couldn’t digest the fact that the girl who was madly in love with him instead of crying and burning in the agony of separation and rejection found her true love. A man who gave her respect and the worth she deserves. She was ready to forget the past and move on but his sky-high pride didn’t allow that. It still wanted her to beg for his attention.” He said and laughed.
Theodore stiffened at his words. He shot him a scalded look but Zagan continued deriding him.
“And now her being the Princess of Hell served as the icing on the cake. Your ego got hurt, didn’t it? The girl who had no place in your eyes actually is much superior to you, both in position and in power. Our Theo now realized that he was willingly giving up on his golden duck. You want Jasmine because now she matches your status, right?”
“SHUT UP!!” Theodore blared while yanking his collar from Zachary. He then looked at Jasmine but panicked when he found pain and rage in her hazel hues.
“D-Don’t believe him, Jasmine. I-I agree I was a jerk to you, disregarded your feelings and yes, I felt jealous when I found you with this fucker. But trust me, I don’t give a damn about your status. You are already the Queen of the Theo Dynasty so why would I feel exhilarated with this sudden news of you being Zachary’s sister? Trust me, I really love you-”
“ENOUGH!!”
Zachary said and clouted him. Theodore stumbled back due to the impact and was about to kiss the floor when he was again pulled by the collar. Zachary again punched him making him see stars.
“You can’t repent for the hell you’ve made my sister go through. You were after my wife because she turned you down. You hurt my sister when she only wanted to heal your broken heart. I know she did wrong but you kicked her out of your life, right? Even when she cried and begged you, you did what you wanted to. Then why the drama? Moreover, even if I forgive you for kidnapping my wife but you tried to kill my child. And that’s what I can’t slide down.” He sneered.
Diana gasped when Zachary aimed his sword at Theodore’s neck who was lying on the floor, coughing blood.
“N-No Zachary. You p-promised me.” She said and tried to go near him but Zagan stopped her from entering the scene.
“No Princess, he tried to harm you. He made you cry but above all, he tried to kill my baby. He dares to snatch away my happiness. Hate me all you want to but I can’t forgive people who mess with my family.” He said and pierced the tip of his sword into his neck.
Jasmine turned white as a sheet. Her heart raced as she followed the bloodstream that trickled from his neck all the way down to his chest. Blood ingressed his white shirt turning it into crimson red.
Zagan heard her gasp and turned his head in her direction. Jealousy coursed his veins when he noticed her scared expression. Jasmine was shivering like a leaf but didn’t have the guts to stop Zachary who was about to strangle Theodore.
Blinded with anger, Zagan snatched the sword from Zachary and pushed him away. His actions took everyone off guard.
“He is my prey, Zac not yours. He had hurt our loved ones but he is the reason why I lost my sister. He is definitely going to die today but with my hands.” He yelled and raised his sword in the air.
“NO ZAGAN, DON’T!!” Diana shouted and ran to him.
“DON’T DO THIS PLEASE!!” Christian also yelled and rushed to save his brother. George on the other hand didn’t budge and watched them silently, smirking to himself.
Giving Theodore a murderous look, Zagan screamed and bring the sword down with full force. He was about to jab the sword in his chest when someone grabbed his hands midway, stopping him.
“No, don’t kill him, please.”
A soft yet pained voice rang in his ears. Zagan lifted his red hues only to find a sobbing Jasmine holding his hands.
Zachary was also stunned to see her protecting Theodore but soon anger groped him. He marched towards her and berated her, “JASMINE? ARE YOU INSANE? WHY ARE YOU PROTECTING THIS MAN?”
Calix who was standing behind also joined him, not approving of her actions.
“Exactly, here we are fighting for you but you’re still defending this piece of shit. Don’t you understand that by doing so you’re only making a joke of your brother?”
“I ain’t doing anything like that,” Jasmine answered him while glaring at him, “I-I agree with you all but killing Theodore would lead to bloodshed. Angels wouldn’t let us leave if they found out that we have murdered their King.”
Zachary huffed, “Don’t give me these absurd reasons. By killing him, we would only be doing a favor to them. No one needs a king who is mean, relentless, and doesn’t respect women.” He said firmly.
“That shouldn’t concern you, Zac. Let us leave this matter to Angels.” Jasmine spat, “Christian is helping us leave without involving violence then why are you creating a ruckus?”
Her tone didn’t settle well with Zachary as his pupils turned red. Turning to her, he towered over her frame before speaking with a clenched jaw, “Ruckus?? He was about to kill my child and YOU’RE SAYING THAT I AM MAKING A MOUNTAIN OUT OF A MOLE HILL??”
“BUT HE DIDN’T” Jasmine shouted back in frustration.
Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes to calm down. She then lifted her head and looked at Zachary who was watching her with disappointment.
“I-I know you’re mad and are eager to kill him but killing the King of Heaven would open a war, Zac. History would be repeated and many homes would be destroyed. Indeed, we are demons but we aren’t heartless and selfish like these fake Angels. Let’s return happily Zac and leave the past behind.” She spoke softly and tried to make him understand.
Diana also bobbed her head in positive. She then walked to Zachary and grabbed his hand.
“I am ready to forgive him then why can’t you, Zac? Won’t you listen to your Princess?” She said and made him touch her tummy. Zachary looked down at her.
“We need you Zachary more than anyone. Jasmine is right, war is never an option. Don’t emulate their actions. You have a big heart so it’s obvious we will expect more from you. Because we know you will listen to us. So, for your child’s sake, take me home, and let’s start afresh.” She said and pecked his left cheek.
Her words pulled the strings of his heart and simmered down his rage. It was the truth though because by killing Theodore, he would put Diana and his child’s life at stake. Protecting her should be his priority rather than punishing Theodore.
Exhaling a heavy breath, Zachary nodded that lit up both of their faces. Jasmine then turned to Zagan who was still scowling at her. Giving him a sad smile, she took the sword away from him before returning it to Zachary.
“Zagan,” she said and sighed, “I know you’re mad at me and might hate me but my motive to stop you was only to save you. My whole life, I have received nothing but criticism and humiliation. The only best things that happened to me are my sister and you. I had once pushed the only person who had truly cared for me, now I won’t do that. You are right, you’re the one who gave me respect and worth in his life. Now don’t run away after showing me a glimpse of this utopia. Let me live it.”
Her voice cracked in last turning his gaze soft.
Zagan eyed the lone tear trickling down her cheek. Lifting his hand, he wiped it off and caressed her face. Pulling her closer, he planted a soft kiss on her forehead and looked down at her.
“Don’t worry. I won’t.”
Her lips stretched into a smile. Zagan also returned it gladly and pulled her in his arms. Jasmine snuggled into his chest and hugged him tightly.
Rose smiled with teary eyes. She was contented that her sister finally found her true love.
Zachary then turned to Christian, “Thanks for looking after my wife and my child. I am grateful to you but do escort my in-laws safely to their Palace.”
Christian nodded and smiled, “Trust me, Demon King.”
Calix then walked to Zachary with Rose and spoke in his deep voice, “I think we should now leave King.” Zachary nodded and turned to Zagan.
But what he saw next snatched the ground beneath his feet.
His eyes widened when he saw Theodore who was standing behind Zagan with a sword in his hand. Blood was dripping down his mouth, coating his chin and jaw giving him a ghastly appearance but what got him terrified was his eyes. They were soulless and empty.
“NO!! ZAG-”
Words died in his mouth as everything happened in a blink of an eye. Before they all could understand, Theodore stabbed Zagan from behind.
Zagan gasped in pain, too shocked to react, and staggered to the floor.
“ZAGAN!!” Jasmine yelled in horror and was about to hold him when her right arm was taken in a deadly grip. Zachary broke into cold sweats when Theodore wrapped his arm around Jasmine.
“NO, MY SISTER!!” Rose screamed but was pulled back by Calix who eyed the bloodied sword near Jasmine’s neck.
Once everyone froze in their spots that’s when Theodore’s expression changed. Zachary clenched his fist when Theodore shot him a cynical smile.
“Your sister is mine, brother-in-law. If I can’t have her then no one will.”
