Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Jasmine’s P.O.V.
*Huff*
I am tired.
Tossing the orange into the already filled basket, I wiped the sweat off my forehead and crouched down to pick up the fruits that were scattered on the ground.
“Watching a Princess working is extremely a heart-wrenching scene.”
A deep voice echoed from behind which made me turn to the owner of that voice. A handsome man dressed in royal dark blue attire was leaning against the tree with his hands crossed over his chest while his eyes stared at me with pity.
Princess?
My heart clenched painfully inside my chest. Rose is right. I am always blaming her for my situation but the truth is that it’s all because of my stupid feelings. I crossed my boundaries and tricked a Prince thinking he would love me back.
Brushing off those thoughts, I looked at him, “You mistook me, Sire. I am just a peasant.”
I answered him politely only to earn a dry chuckle.
“That’s a misconception. You don’t know your true identity, Jasmine.”
‘How does he know my name?’
My head snapped in his direction only to find him smirking.
He started to approach me. I immediately stood up and pulled my dagger that was tucked in the belt of my gown and pointed at him.
“Don’t come near me or else-”
“Or else what Jasmine? You don’t need to get afraid of me. After all, I am your future husband.”
‘Future husband?’
“What are you talking about?“, I scowled at him and started walking backward as he kept advancing towards me.
“I won’t hurt you, Jasmine. There is something very important that you need to know. It’s about your life.” His expression abruptly turned serious and tried to calm me down but I didn’t let my guards down.
‘What if it’s a trap?’
Without thinking twice, I pivoted and started running. But that freak chased me down and grabbed me from behind.
“NO, HELP!! HELP!!”
I started flailing my arms and clawed his arms that were coiled around my waist. But that monster slammed me on a tree and swirled me around.
“N-NO PLEASE-”
“SHUT IT!!”
He growled and clasped his palm on my mouth.
“What part of ‘I won’t hurt you’ you don’t understand?” He gritted while I kept staring at him with wide eyes.
Now as we were so close, I could easily make out his features. He had a pair of beautiful large black eyes, jet black hair which was perfectly coiffed, and a long, straight nose. His angled jaw and fair skin complimented him well.
‘But why such a good-looking man is interested in a low-life like me?’
“Stop calling yourself that.”
I jolted in fear. He can read my mind?
“Yes, I can, my love.”
He again replied. I shot him a glare and tried to wiggle out of his grip.
“Leave me you-“
He can read my mind. Then that means,
‘HE IS A DEMON’
My senses turned alert. I immediately gave a hard push on his chest and freed myself, “You? How did you come here? Theodore has closed the portals and-”
“That bonehead is nothing in comparison to my sister.” He harshly cut me off.
‘Why would a demon look for me?’
Lost in thoughts, I quietly waited for his reply. Raking his fingers through his hair, he then looked at me and shot me a small smile.
“Well since you know who I am then let’s get down to the intro thing. I am Zagan, Heir of Pratus Dynasty, Kiora’s brother and Zachary’s future brother-in-law.”
My brows furrowed, “Future brother-in-law? What are you talking about? As far I remember, Zachary has no sibling then how come you can be his brother-in-law?”
Is he insane? I may not know much about him but I am pretty sure that Zachary is the only child.
Zagan let out a chuckle and took a step towards me to which I instantly retreated.
“He has a sister Zachary and, guess what? You are the one.”
His words snatched the ground beneath my feet.
Zagan took a deep sigh and nodded noticing my incredulous expression, “Yes Jasmine. You are a demon, not an Angel. You must have felt a strong pull toward Zachary whenever you used to meet him. You can deny but you must have always felt a surge of extremely powerful energies inside you whenever you perform witchcraft. It’s because you took birth from Delphyne’s womb who is the Queen of Hell. You can easily pull out malefic and cryptic spells with no prior training or experience. I know it’s too much to take but you have to believe it. Delphyne had reasons to abandon you but now it’s time for you to learn this secret as your life is in danger.” He asserted.
He is right. I couldn’t believe my ears. This is not at all possible.
Zagan kept staring at me, probably waiting for my reaction but his gaze darkened when I burst into laughter.
“Good story.” I chuckled and gave him a thumbs up.
He clenched his jaw, “Oep smj’h gj zgea hgphr, tmianjl.” He raged and tried to intimidate me.
(You can’t run from the truth, Jasmine.)
I rolled my eyes, “I am not running from the truth because it isn’t one either. My family is Rose and she is my truth. So just fucking leave or else I would scream.”
I snapped at him. Zagan glared at me which I returned with the same intensity.
Suddenly, the corner of his lips twitched upwards. The crease on my forehead deepened when he took a step forward and flashed me a cynical smirk, “You know you just corroborated my suspicion.”
“Oep smj’h gpj zgea hgphr, tmianjl.”
“I am not running from the truth because it isn’t one either. My family is Rose and she is my truth. So just fucking leave or else I would scream.”
I c-can understand demonic language?
But I never learned it then how come I was able to interpret them?
“Because you are a demon. Accept it, Jasmine. There’s no harm in it. The sooner you accept the better it will end for you.” Zagan spoke gravely.
My legs gave up. I staggered to the ground and placed my palm on my chest as my heartbeat suddenly shot up.
“T-That means my whole life has been a lie? Why did Rose hide such a big secret from me?”
Tears gathered in my eyes. He softened his eyes when he noticed me crying. Zagan then placed his right knee on the ground and held me as I burst into sobs.
“Why am I always unwanted? I never did anything wrong. Now I understood why Theodore never loved me. When my mother kicked me out of her life then how can he, an Angel develop a feeling for me?”
I cried but a wince escaped my mouth when he abruptly tightened his hold on me. I looked at him but a chill ran down my spine when I noticed the dark and eerie gleam in his eyes.
“Stop thinking about him. Do you know why Delphyne abandoned you? To save your life. Diana’s child will be the reason for your death and that’s why she hid you from the world so that you stay protected.” He gritted.
I looked at him confused, “Diana’s child? What does he or she have to do with my death?”
Zagan inhaled a deep breath before answering my questions, “It’s all because of Elijah’s curse. You are not only Delphyne’s daughter but Orkus’ true heir which makes you the rightful owner of Hell. After the partition, both the leaders were accepted by their people. Impressed with their battling spirits, devotion to people and fidelity, the Almighty blessed the true leaders with a magical spell. Binnazun used that spell by declaring that his great-great-grandson will become the rightful owner of Hell and would be invincible. But Elijah was still not over Binnazun. His hatred and jealousy grew up to ten folds when Binnazun took over the throne of Hell as he wanted to rule both worlds. So, he warped that spell by declaring that the child of his great-great grandchild will kill the rightful owner of Hell and would take over both the worlds.”
His words rendered me speechless.
Zagan continued, “Thus, to save you Delphyne took this step. No one knows about it not even Rose. She did hide the fact that you’re an orphan but she also doesn’t know about your true identity. It’s high time, Jasmine. I am ready to help you. All I want is your trust and cooperation.” He spoke while staring deeply into my eyes. But my mind had turned blank. It was too much for me to take.
I slowly peeled his hands off me and stood up. Zagan was confounded but I averted my gaze from him and shielded myself with my arms, “I am sorry but I can’t trust a stranger blindly. Moreover, you should leave. We are migrants and have to be circumspect of all sorts of danger. If someone finds out that I have a connection with demons, we’ll be in trouble.”
Zagan let out a groan as I completely ignored his words, “Jasmine, you don’t understand. We don’t have time.”
He tried to hold me but I backed off and stayed rooted to my words, “Stop bothering me. I don’t know if it’s the truth or not. Moreover, this fact entails danger, violence, and a lot of bloodsheds. I can’t afford to lose the only family I had. Delphyne kept this a secret right? Then tell her to take this secret to her grave and never unveil it. I am happy being an Angel and if Diana’s child kills me then let it be. I can’t fight my fate. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Zagan was shocked by my straightforward answer. To be honest, I didn’t expect this either. But it’s the truth. What’s done can’t be undone.
“I am cursed but the only love I’ve ever received is from my sister. If my end is near then I wish to spend time with my only family and cherish the halcyon days I’ve spent with her.”
My voice cracked at last. My fate had already been sealed. George was right. I am indeed a black chapter in everyone’s life especially, Theodore. I wonder if he would even remember my name once I die.
What I am thinking? I am a closed chapter in his life.
Wiping my tears with the back of my hands, I turned to leave when Zagan suddenly pulled me into a warm embrace.
“What-“
“Sshh”
He kissed my crown and hugged me tightly, “Don’t lose hope, Jasmine. I know you’ve been through a lot but you can’t let a prick walk over you. I will be honest with you. Yes, I approached you with a selfish motto but you completely changed my opinion about you. If you had been selfish, you would have instantly leaped on this opportunity but you didn’t. This shows that you are blue blood. Nothing would happen to you. We will definitely figure out a way. Trust me.”
Zagan spoke gently. His words did make my heart flutter. After such a long time, someone praised me otherwise I have only been looked at with contempt and targeted with barbs. A small smile made its way to my lips as I brought my hands up and hugged him back.
Zagan then pulled off the hug. He looked at me and smiled which I gladly returned.
“You should leave now. It’s dangerous for you to stay here.”
He nodded but suddenly ducked forward and cupped my chin. His gaze vacillated between my eyes and lips for a few seconds until they got pinned onto my lips.
“You’re very beautiful Jasmine. Accept me, I promise you I will make you the Queen of my life.”
His hoarse, deep voice made my knees buckle. I grabbed his hand in my trembling ones and tried to pry them off, “Zagan, please. I don’t want anything to do with you.”
My heart was beating wildly but I didn’t let my mind waver.
“Don’t worry. I am not forcing you. I will wait for your answer but I assure you that you will fall for me. The pink hue on your cheeks is a sign that my charms do work in you.” He chuckled and boop my nose.
I slapped his hand away, “Stop putting on airs. It’s all because of your cologne.”
He grinned, “Yeah sure. Then let’s try it once again.”
“What do you mean-“
Before I could retort, he grabbed my nape and pulled me towards him. My eyes widened while my heart went into cardiac arrest as our lips were only an inch away from each other. Just one touch and we would end up kissing.
I tried to move back but he hauled me towards him which made our noses brush against each other. A violent shudder ran through me as he caressed the crack of my lips with the pad of his thumb. His eyes held an indiscernible craze but what made me frenzied was the tinge of lust in them.
“You are mine, Jasmine. I won’t let you go.” He spoke huskily and started leaning forward.
‘Oh my God.’
My eyes shut of their own volition as I didn’t anticipate that but before our lips could touch, someone peeled me off from him and before I could comprehend, a thundering growl boomed in the entire forest.
“STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY WIFE!!”
