Chapter 58: Chapter 58
Calix articulated stunning her to silence. Delphyne looked at him with wide eyes.
‘How the hell he caught the wind of it?’
Calix scoffed at her terrified face, “Jasmine and Zachary were born together. But you had Jasmine earlier which makes her elder to Zachary. You knew about the prophecy yet you continued fooling us. The eldest child not the son of Orkus would be the rightful owner of Hell. You know Zachary can’t be killed because he was never the rightful King of Hell but his child will kill your daughter. To protect Jasmine, you disowned her to hide her from everyone but you failed to understand Queen that Jasmine can only be protected if Diana’s child is killed.”
“And that’s why I hated her. I wanted to kill her so that I can protect my children.”
Delphyne finally blurted out. Kiora smiled in triumph and looked at Zagan who shot her a wink. They both finally succeeded in their plan and made her spill the truth.
But unbeknownst to their evil plan, Delphyne continued to lament, “I had always opposed this marriage because I knew that the child of an Angel and Devil will be nothing but a grim reaper. This isn’t a prophecy Cal, it’s Elijah’s curse. Do you know why Diana’s parents agreed to the marriage? It is either they didn’t know the whole thing or they wanted to kill Zachary because, in their eyes, he is the rightful owner of Hell. But what everyone doesn’t know is that if this happens, someone else will die who doesn’t even have the slightest idea that her death had been written since birth.”
She cried and slumped to the floor. Calix’s eyes turned soft. He crouched down on the ground and held her shoulders. Delphyne clung to him and started weeping.
“Y-You don’t know how hard it was for a mother to abandon her daughter, Cal. I am a sinner for separating Zac from his sister but my motive has always been to protect my children. I have no enmity with Diana but she is now the wife of my son. Her child would be the murderer of my daughter. Zachary’s continuous defiance peeved me so I did everything in my power to separate them. Do you think I didn’t know about you sneaking into his room, Kiora? You were the one who guided Diana to the royal library. I kept quiet because deep down I also wanted to get rid of that vixen. After Zac built the shield around his room, I knew he must have gotten the inkling of your presence. I had to make the move before things go out of my hands that’s why I hid in the library and waited for Diana. I then deliberately threw the novel on her and confronted her with the truth about Binnazun and Elijah. Next, I mixed the potion which Barbas had given me in Zachary’s drink before he went to his room. The potion made him frustrated and increased his rage and he ended up hurting Diana. I wanted him to hurt her to a greater extent but my son had tremendous self-control. Moreover, that bitch had him wrapped around her fingers. She even nullified the effect of the drug and controlled him before he could harm her more. But I have no regrets. I will do anything to save my children. Zachary and Diana had to separate for the sake of Jasmine.” She shouted and punched the floor in rage.
After a deafening silence, Zagan spoke, “There’s a way to save her.”
Delphyne immediately looked at him, “What is it?” His words incited a ray of hope in her heart.
Zagan harumphed loudly before speaking, “It’s a bit risky but has far-reaching goals. If we kill Diana’s child, we will not only become the sinner of an unborn baby but would also dig our graves. Zachary won’t spare us when he would come to know that we dared to harm his child. So, what we have to do is to let Theodore do the needful.”
The crease on her forehead deepened with his twisted words, “Please speak clearly.”
Delphyne said and looked at Calix. But she was startled as he was glaring at her with his gleaning sapphire hues.
Moving forward, he spoke in his deep voice, “Theodore doesn’t know about the prophecy yet. We are gonna twist his great-grandfather’s words by making him the rightful owner. Diana is currently in Moonland. We would tell him that she is pregnant and is returning to Hell to give the good news to his father. Incensed and insecure Theodore would then capture her and kill her child.”
Delphyne groaned in annoyance, “But he loves Diana. He wouldn’t believe this so easily. And I am sure by now, he would have captured her. Maybe he would trick Diana by spiking her drinks or plan a way to kill her baby which doesn’t harm her. You aren’t understanding Cal, the problem will be solved only if Diana dies.” She snapped at him.
“Don’t worry. We had already planned everything,” Kiora chimed in and removed a small flask from her cape containing a transparent liquid.
The Queen frowned, “What’s that?”
She smiled, “Poison.”
Delphyne shivered and looked at the trio in horror.
They were monsters.
Kiora wrapped her fingers around the flask and started smiling like a psychopath, “I will give this drink to George who loves his brother too much. Maybe we can fail to convince Theodore but I am damn sure George would believe me. I would use that prick by telling him that this potion can kill Diana’s child and I bet you on my life, he would agree to it because he loves his brother more than anyone. In his eyes, he would be killing his brother’s murderer but would end up killing her best friend.” She said and let out a loud guffaw.
Calix also smirked and nodded in agreement, “Once Diana dies, we would attack the Theo Dynasty for murdering our Queen. Theodore’s death will remove the last impediment in Zac’s way. He would then claim the throne of Heaven and we would be finally able to rule over them.” He spoke with a clenched jaw.
Delphyne saw the vindictive tinge in his sapphire hues. Like Zachary, Calix was also hurt. Rose dumped him but unlike Zachary, he had chosen a wicked path that was posited on revenge and ruination.
She removed her hands from Calix and scooted back from him which didn’t go unnoticed by him. “You are t-trying to kill Diana. Didn’t you consider her as your sister? Didn’t you love her-”
“Not more than my people.”
He replied gruffly.
Calix stood up, towering over her, “If we tell Zachary, I am sure he would also choose his sister over his love. We have pledged to destroy Heaven. We can’t be their puppets and give them the advantage to strum our strings. We are heartless, and merciless, and have sworn to protect each other at the cost of Angels’ life. Diana is an Angel and a threat to my world. She has to die. Zachary loves her too much. He won’t be able to kill her and I can’t see him suffer. So, for his sake, I took help from Kiora because as you said she is our last hope.” He said and shot Kiora a glare who blew him a kiss.
Delphyne then shifted her gaze to her, “But why are you asking for my daughter? I am telling you even if you bring Jasmine here, Zachary will still be the ruler of Hell. I don’t want to create a rift between my children and make them fight for the throne and power.” She spoke sternly. Zagan raised his hands in the air.
“Calm down Queen. It’s a give-and-take world. You have to reward us for saving your children’s life. Give me Jasmine and my sister, Zachary. I don’t need the throne but we want to be a part of the royal family. I promise you that I would treat her with respect and give her immense love, something which Theodore had never given her.”
Kiora also nodded and narrowed her eyes at her, “Also, Zachary is mine. You had promised me that you will make me your daughter-in-law. That time I forgive you but this time if you dare trick me, then I wouldn’t go easy on you. And I mean my words.” She threatened her.
Delphyne turned silent. She wasn’t surprised by Kiora and Zagan rather she expected it but what shocked her was Calix’s consent. She peeked a glance at him only to find him seething silently. He was controlling his rage because after all he and Zachary despised this wicked sibling to their core but his love turned to hate for Rose had impaired his sanity.
For a second, Delphyne felt bad for Diana as that girl was innocent. It wasn’t her fault that she was born with a fate that was nothing but a curse for her. But again, if she protects her then Jasmine had to be sacrificed.
Eventually, her eagerness to save her children outweighed her concern for Diana. She looked at Zagan who was already assessing her with scrutinizing eyes.
Placing a boulder on her heart, she finally gave them her word.
“Alright, I promise you. Once Diana dies, I will introduce Jasmine to our world and would give her a hand to you. Further, Zachary had to marry Kiora otherwise he would have to step down from his position.”
