Chapter 52: Chapter 52
“Princess”
Zachary called Diana as he entered the room and closed the door, locking it. Taking off his cape, he threw it on the couch and started to unbutton his shirt while his eyes kept scanning the room, looking for his angel. Eventually, his calm expression turned serious when he couldn’t spot his wife in the room.
“Diana?”
Zachary again called her but received no response. Anxiety rose in his heart. He immediately ran to the balcony only to revert to the room as there was no sign of Diana, anywhere.
“PRINCESS!!!”
Zachary screamed at the top of his lungs. His wife was nowhere and he knew she wouldn’t have left the room as he always locks the door before leaving.
“Fuck!! Did someone come inside and took my love away? No, it can’t happen. No one has the power to break the seal.”
Mumbling, he again started looking for her everywhere. But apart from the room and balcony, where else she can be.
Beads of sweat aligned his forehead while his breathing got ragged. Dreadful possibilities started swirling in his head making him lose his mind.
Suddenly the familiar mild fragrance wafted in the room and hit his nostrils. His shoulders slouched in relief. Exhaling a deep breath, Zachary turned around only to get stilled on spot. All the air got was knocked off his lungs when he saw Diana coming out from a wall?
His heart skipped a beat when his eyes landed on the black door which she calmly. Diana then moved back and within a blink of an eye, it disappeared into the wall. Adjusting her gown, she turned around only to meet the pitch-black hues that were already set up on her.
Zachary was stunned as there was no sign of surprise, fear, or shock in her eyes. She perhaps knew about his arrival and wasn’t afraid of being caught. She was cool and composed.
And that irked him.
Anger surged in his veins as he clenched his fists and marched toward her angrily.
“Zac, I-”
“HOW DARE YOU GO THERE? DIDN’T I TELL YOU THAT YOU WILL STAY IN THE ROOM UNTIL AND UNLESS I COME BACK?? HOW DO YOU EVEN GET INSIDE? WHO TOLD YOU ABOUT IT??”
He bombarded her with questions. Diana tried to hold him but he moved back as he wasn’t done with her.
“It’s alright Zac, I- Wait!!”
She yelled when he snatched the book that was tugged beneath her arm and looked at it. But what surprised her was Zachary’s terrified face. His eyes turned large as saucers while his face lost colors as if he had seen a ghost.
“F-FROM WHERE DO YOU GET T-THIS?? WHO GAVE YOU THIS??“, He shouted, fear evident in his eyes.
Diana was too stunned to react but her silence only agitated him. Grabbing her forearm, he shook her violently earning a flinch from her.
“SAY SOMETHING DAMMIT!!! I TOLD YOU NOT TO EXPLORE THIS MANSION, I TOLD YOU TO STAY IN THIS ROOM BUT YOU LOVE TO DISRESPECT ME!! FUCK, WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH YOU DIANA??”
He blared and pushed her making her stumble backward. He then threw the book away which make it land on a flower vase that got crashed against the wall.
To say Diana was shocked would be an understatement. Since Zachary came into her life, he had always scolded her but frivolously and it was mainly his concern for her. But this time he not only broke her mentally but hurt her physically as well.
She winced while caressing her bruised arm. Tears welled in her eyes feeling her back on fire as the force with which he pushed her was so strong that she collided with the wall.
Diana looked at Zachary with teary eyes but her heart broke when she found no sympathy or regret in them. He was raging and didn’t have the slightest idea that he was hurting her. Marching towards her with predatory steps, he grabbed her arm and merely blinking at her tear-stained face started dragging her.
“Ahh!! Zac, you’re hurting me”, Diana shouted and tried to unwrap his long fingers that were curled around her dainty arm like a tight rope. But Zachary paid no heed to her pleas and pulled her forward. Before she could react, he made her sit on the bed and grabbed her both wrists in his hand.
Diana started struggling in his hold but her breath stopped when she saw a silver chain dangling in his right fist.
“N-NO!! WAIT, YOU CAN’T DO THIS ZAC!!!”
She started screaming and pushing him but he only tightened his grip. His massive strength immobilized her and taking advantage, he put the shackles on her wrists and locked them. Diana was shocked as the shackles were covered with a red silk cloth so that they don’t bruise her skin. She kept gazing at them in a daze that she didn’t even realize when Zachary tied the chains to the bedpost and put the key in his pocket.
Her trance was broken when she felt his hands cupping her face. Zachary was still staring at her impassively which made her hard to believe that he was the same guy who couldn’t see her in pain. He seemed satisfied with his work and this mere fact was enough to vanish the tiniest hope in her heart.
Clearing her tears with his long fingers, Zachary made the heartbroken Princess look in his icy cold orbs, “Now you will be safe. Don’t worry, these chains are long enough for you to walk around the room and you can also use the restroom easily. They will only hinder you from leaving this room. Don’t misunderstand me love but I gave you the freedom to spend time on the balcony even though it’s too dangerous right now. You know nothing about Kiora, your worst enemy who is looking for an opportunity to kill you. This isn’t a room Princess, it’s the defensive and protective shield that I made only for you. I know you are angry at me but just remember Princess, whatever I do is for your good.”
He rasped. Diana shot him a glare. His words only made her blood boil.
“Stop covering your threats under the quilt of protection. Yes, I went to the library and I am not at all ashamed to admit it ’cause I didn’t do a crime. Zac, you want me to stay in this room the whole day. Can you do the same? I ain’t an object Zac or your doll whom you had purchased from my family.”
She grated out. Zachary’s jaw ticked. He immediately stepped back from her and started leaving the room.
“I am going to bring your food.” He said while ignoring her words. Zachary knew very well that he had made her angry but her words and the look of resentment and contempt in her eyes exasperated him. He knew that if he stays in the room one more minute, he will do something regretful.
Her temper flared when she saw his retrieving figure. Jerking the chains, she shouted from behind, “IS THIS BECAUSE YOU DON’T WANT ME TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT BINNAZUN??”
Her words halted his steps. Zachary squeezed his eyes shut, his fists clenching as he took deep breaths to calm himself down.
“There’s nothing to talk about it.”
He spoke, his voice raised an octave but Diana stood her ground.
“Yes, it is. Tell me, Zac, why don’t you want to confront the truth about your great Binnazun? I wanted to talk to you about this matter in a civilized manner but after seeing your outburst, I am sure you are hiding the truth from me, Zac. Tell me why you don’t want to know the real story? You don’t know Zac; you have been kept in dark all these years. That Binnazun was a cheater-”
“DIANA!!!”
Her heart jumped from his ferocious roar but before she could comprehend, he was standing right in front of her with his palm covering her mouth.
“Not.a.word”
He grated out every word. Her ocean orbs stared into his completely black ones in horror. The purple, swollen veins on his forehead clearly stated that she had crossed the line.
The chains clanked as Diana tried to pry his palm off her mouth with her small hands. She exhaled loudly when he removed his hand but her happiness didn’t last long as he cupped her right cheek and jerked her head forward making her yelp.
“You won’t utter a word about him. We’ll behave as if this conversation never happened. Alright?”, he spoke viciously shaking her core. But his eyes turned a shade darker when Diana shook her head stubbornly and glared at him.
“You can’t always run from this fact. Your Binnazun was a cheater and a coward. You all have been told false, fabricated lies since you grew up, aren’t you curious to know the truth? I can tell you that Zac. Elijah, my Moon prince was the true warrior, savior, and hero instead of that traitor, spineless monster-“
“SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!!”
A painful scream escaped her mouth when he grabbed a chunk of her hair and pulled it as he snarled at her face. Diana immediately grabbed his hand that was holding her hair but Zachary again pulled it hard making her hiss in pain and with his other, he cupped her chin and made her look into his burning eyes.
“YOU KNOW NOTHING AND IT WILL BE GOOD IF WE KEEP THIS WAY!! DON’T ENTANGLE OUR RELATIONSHIP IN THIS MESS AND LET ME DO MY JOB!!”
He raged but his eyes widened when he saw a tear slipping from her left eye. He loosened his grip immediately when he noticed the pained expression on his face.
Pulling her in his arms, he hugged her tightly and started massaging her locks to ease the pain. “I am sorry Princess but please don’t insult the man whom I respect the most. Angels consider Binnazun as a monster while we look at Elijah as one. Nothing can’t change our mindset as one will always try to strangle the one who’ll insult his God. So, don’t involve in such pathetic fights and focus on our life, hmm?” He spoke softly but Diana was too scared to even breathe in his presence.
Finding no response from her, he broke the hug and looked at the traumatized Angel who was still as a statute. His gaze softened. Grabbing her small face in her arms, he cleared off her tears and made her look in his eyes that were filled with guilt and shame.
“I am sorry. Please don’t hate me.”
Her horrified eyes simply stared at him blankly. His heart twitched in pain and hugged her tightly.
“Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.”
He kept saying soothing words in her ear trying to make it up to her but what’s the use as the damage had already been done.
