Chapter 49: Chapter 49
Diana’s P.O.V.
“Only one chapter is left. I will complete it by this week,”
Closing the book, I leaned my head back on the chair and closed my eyes to relax my mind.
Initially, I thought to reveal the truth of this library to Zachary but later dropped the idea because he wouldn’t let me enter here again. And I will be again chided for risking my safety.
But the main reason behind this was Zachary’s brooding nature. Nowadays he’s too tense and gets angry at the smallest things. Though Zagan had lost all the previous wars with Zachary instead of surrendering, he would double down his efforts and come back with new strategies.
Also, I think that this library isn’t such a big issue. Moreover, I ain’t a child who needs permission for everything. It’s only a library, a place which would never hurt anyone.
I always sneak into here and come back to the room when Zachary is about to return. The best part is that he hadn’t become suspicious by now. Also, I don’t want to give him unnecessary trouble. He is already burdened with the responsibilities of his kingdom and engaging him in such pity issues wouldn’t be fruitful.
Now, it was time to vacate this place. Scraping the chair back, I stood up with the book in my hand and padded to the almirah.
“I will come back tomorrow”, Smiling, I put my novel back and was about to leave when something fell from the top shelf and showered me in filth.
“God”
I was drenched in dust from head to toe. Once my vision got cleared, I looked down and glared at the culprit which had stained my beautiful blue gown.
It was a thick book with torn, yellow pages. Walking closer to it, I bent down and picked it up. It was too old and dirty. I immediately covered my nose as I started to wheeze. There was no way I would be able to clean it. So, I simply grabbed it and put it on a small round table that was kept in the corner.
I was about to leave when suddenly my eyes landed on a silver oval-shaped mirror that was hung on the wall.
“Oh no, I look terrible.”
I scowled at my reflection as there were so many brown streaks smeared all over my face. I started to clean myself.
“Perfect”
Smiling at my reflection, I then started to check my gown when my gaze abruptly fell on the same, old book.
“OH MY GOD!!”
My eyes bulged out of my sockets. There wasn’t even a speck of dust on it now. Instead, it was changed into a new one with a shining maroon cover that had letters printed in gold on it.
“JUDAS KISS”
The words slipped my mouth as I traced my fingers on the beautifully calligraphed letters. Curiosity to go through it once flared in me. I immediately opened the book and was leafing through it when a particular line grabbed my attention.
“Elijah backstabbed me. I can’t believe I once called this snake my friend.”
“How dare he?”
Anger surged through my veins. I started reading below that line and it didn’t take me a second to realize that it was written by Binnazun. The book was based on the legendary enmity between Angels and Demons and the mass exodus of demons after the partition of Heaven. The narrator was Binnazun as it was completely his side of the story which was nothing but a pool of white lies.
But the thing which bothered me was that this is what demons have been taught about our Moon Prince. Their leader is talking about betrayal when in reality he was the one who was at fault. And not only that, he even snatched Elijah’s wife, ruined her, and even planned Elijah’s death. At the time of division, he was scheming to run away after plundering all the money but Elijah caught him and ruined his plans. Since then, he was holding grudges against him and took his revenge by murdering our Moon Prince.
I harshly turn the page.
“Those three powerful weapons were explored by me. To eradicate the seeds of war between the two worlds, we both agreed to store them in the Coral Cavern until they get their rightful owner. But I didn’t know that he always had his eyes on them. And soon the day arrived when he turned my doubt into reality. While I was helping my people to leave their properties and houses behind on the day of departure, Elijah cunningly stole those three weapons and exported them to his kingdom.”
‘What nonsense is this?’
Why there are so many lies written in this book? Those weapons had been saved by Elijah whom Binnazun was trying to steal. He was the one who was at fault and had the effrontery to put all the blame on our Moon Prince?
Is this what demons have been taught for years? My God, I can’t believe they have been kept in dark by this liar.
I need to discuss this with Zachary. Because if this is the truth then I have to clear his mind and make him confront the truth.
End of Diana’s P.O.V.
Meanwhile
Inside Theo’s Palace
“Where am I?”
Rose stood up on her shaking legs while staring at the lavish interiors of the royal room in awe. She turned behind only to see a beautiful round shape bed kept in the middle of the room equipped with silk duvets and pillows. There were thick, heavy blinds draped on the large windows, a golden chandelier dangling from the ceiling and the room was furnished with baroque furniture, exotic flowers, exquisite paintings pinned on the wall, and a vintage-style mahogany shelf kept in the left corner with several books stacked in it. It was just marvelous.
“Is this Jasmine’s room or Theodore’s? Please God let it be Jasmine or I will be doomed.”
With a wildly palpitating heart, she grabbed the hem of the gown and started to inspect the room when suddenly the door creaked making her freeze on her spot.
“Rose?”
Ros instantly wheeled around hearing the familiar voice that she had been waiting to hear for so long. Her eyes turned heavy with tears of joy as she looked at a confounded Jasmine standing near the washroom.
Jasmine kept staring at Rose in disbelief.
‘Am I dreaming? Why am I hallucinating my sister?’
But her daze was broken when Rose threw herself in her arms making her stagger back.
“Thank God, you’re safe. Forgive me baby for being the world’s pathetic sister.”
Rose started sobbing hard making Jasmine also cry along with her. She wrapped her arms around her back and hugged her tightly while crying like a child.
“Don’t say like this Rose. Forgive me for being selfish, for not listening to you. I am sorry. Because of me, you got in trouble and was forced to leave Moonland, our home. It’s all my fault.”
Jasmine continued crying on her shoulders. Rose started patting her head while speaking soft words in her ear to comfort her. Closing her eyes, she thanked the Lord and kept consoling her sister.
Rose had a deep feeling down her heart that Kiora was lying. Further Calix’s words only strengthen her doubt. Still, she took the risk because she didn’t want to let go of her only opportunity to meet her sister. After watching Jasmine safe, Rose couldn’t help but be grateful for Kiora’s unwilling help.
The fact that Jasmine was still safe and sound sparked a new hope in her heart. A hope that there was still time to rectify the mistakes and make everything better.
After crying for a while, they both parted. Rose cupped her face and wiped her tears with her fingers. Pecking her forehead, she looked into her swollen hazel orbs.
“You didn’t hurt me, Jasmine. You disappointed me. Even after my warnings, you took this step. Now at least tell me the truth, what actually happened that day. And you don’t need to give me false hopes that you’re happy because I can easily tell you aren’t. Your crestfallen face and broken expression are enough for me to understand what you’re going through here.”
Jasmine averted her gaze down when Rose shot her a glare. Biting her lips, she meekly nodded before spilling the truth.
