Chapter 16: Chapter 16
I woke up floating in the starry abyss feeling a bit light-headed. Darkness stretched around me as far as the eye could see, clearly this had to be a dream of the sort because for a fact you couldn't breathe in outer space without a spacesuit but I was breathing perfectly fine, but somehow I was a little bit chilly.
"Ahh!" I screamed when I looked down to see the earth in all its glory.
"Wow," I gasped once I got my bearings and admired how beautiful my home planet looked from up here.
I had never seen anything this magnificent in my entire life.
"Pretty neat ey?" Someone said next to me, making me jump in fright, even though I was floating in outer space. Veronica floated next to me looking glam as the day she died even still wearing the same clothes,
"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked in shock sweating like a pig at the presence of her
"How should I know you conjured me out of your guilty consciousness," she shrugged her shoulders sitting in a cross-legged position in the air.
True I felt terrible for what I did to her and it was a real surprise I didn't rat myself out to the cop that stopped us. He pointed his gun at my head and I was ready to confess every sin I have ever committed, I assume he had a bad day or something because I was sure that isn't how cops handle things or maybe it was because of Lila's stupid stunt, that girl I swear.
"So tell me, what do you regret most about that night?" Ghost Veronica asked
"Ever considering going down to the cellar," I said
"Why did you?" She asked
"I wanted to drink my worries away," I shamefully said
"So all this would've been avoided if you just went home, you know that right?" She asked me
"God I know it eats me away at night but I can't undo what has already been done. I'm not superman for crying out loud," I said frustrated, throwing my hands in the air.
"No you aren't, you're more like Lois Lane who desperately needs to find her superman," she said blankly, staring at the earth that seemed to illuminate brightly. Why on earth would I be Lois Lane? She was a badass and I was nothing more than a scaredy-cat with social anxiety, comparing me to her would be a disgrace to her name.
"There you again belittling yourself, this is how people easily take advantage of you," Veronica said
"I'm sorry what?" I asked dumbly wondering how she read my thoughts
"Same reason Liam cheated on you, you're such a pushover it's honestly annoying grow up and realize not everyone is going to like you and so what fuck them you're awesome just the way you are," she hyped me up and I felt this heavyweight being lifted off my shoulder as I stood taller with a wide grin, it felt great being praised by the girl I got killed who was a mega-bitch when she was alive.
"That's much better, now go," she said with outstretched hands like she was freeing a caged bird, where exactly?
"P.s Randall is a much better pick than Cole just saying," she said with a lopsided smile, I didn't get the chance to reply as I was suddenly dropped and hurtled down to earth like an asteroid.
"Aahh!" I screamed as I fell to my probable death, why was my dream so vivid?
The shape of Canada outstretched below me and got closer and closer like I was zooming on google maps, the buildings got closer and I realized I was going to crash on top of a helicopter landing mark that was on top of a wide building. I crossed my hands in a prayer motion praying to whoever was listening to not let me die when I just got some life-changing advice. Clearly, luck wasn't in my favour, no surprise there as I didn't slow down so I braced for impact with my hands in front of my head praying it would be a quick non-painful death.

"Gah!" I woke up with a loud gasp feeling like someone was trying to choke me in my sleep, and I could only breathe properly when I woke up.
"Hey relax you're home," Haley gently said, relaxing my tense shoulder with a gentle squeeze of her hand. I was home in my bed with a cold cloth over my head and a splitting headache.
"What the hell happened?" I groaned sitting up, the world tilted as I moved making me feel dizzy.
"You fainted when the cop left and hit your head pretty hard on the gravel so we brought you home," she explained
"Damn cop," I cursed through gritted teeth
"That's not even the funny part," she said with an annoyed smile
"What part of any of what we just went through was funny?" I asked irritated
"The cop was Lila's friend, she pranked us," my mouth then wide open as I tried to process what I just heard, that lying conniving little piece of shit.
"Was that gun loaded?" I asked
"Duh he's still a real cop just did her a small favour," she said
"You look way too calm for my liking, you being you I would assume you dumped her in an acid river or something," I said with a raised brow
"Oh trust me I'm not calm nor am I finished with her," she said
"What did you do,?" I asked worriedly
"Just shaved her head off, she's lucky I didn't cut a limb off," she said
"That's evil even for you," I cringed, touching my hair that took ages to grow just a centimetre.
"That's not evil whats evil was what she did you know how fucking scared for your life I was, I fucking pissed in my pants," she said raising her voice
"Funny how I did the same thing when he pointed his gun at you," I chuckled making her laugh
"Two peas in a pod ey," she smiled pulling me in a side hug
"Till the end," I hummed hugging her back, "Now give me a goddamn pain killer my heads killing me," I ordered playfully
"Don't get used to bossing me around," she said, wagging her finger. I smiled, enjoying this carefree side of my sister that I haven't seen in ages.
"AAAHHH," an ear-splitting scream rang throughout my flat making me cringe and rub my ears
"She's awake," Haley smiled deviously walking to the lounge, I sped up behind her not wanting to miss this.
"What the fuck happened to my hair?" Lila cried hysterically, her head was shaved completely off only a thin layer of black little hairs dotted her head. Her flawless black locks were in a see-through ziplock bag on the couch, I was tempted to grab it and hide it before she saw it.
"You tell me," Haley said nonchalantly with a shrug admiring her handiwork
"You fucking bitch you did this didn't you?" She asked angrily
"You bet your ass I did, I did tell you I was going to have the last laugh," Haley said with a smirk
"You devil," Lila said with so much venom it left a shiver up my spine
"Call me all the names in the dictionary if you want but that's not going to change your state now is it?" Haley asked smugly, she was having way too much fun with this.
"Lila, what the hell, why did you pull that stunt?" I asked her changing the subject before they could rip each other apart.
"It was just a prank for crying out loud," she said in exasperation
"A fucking messed up prank is what it was so I thought of buying a bald cup to prank you back because I know how much you love your hair but I thought that would be too obvious and lame so I made it a cooler prank because you reminded me of One punch man," Haley said blankly rambling on
"Fuck you," Lila angrily said
"Wouldn't you like that," Haley scoffed making Lila blush angrily
"My hair," she cried, feeling her bald head with tears streaming down her face, I kinda felt bad for her keyword kinda because she should've known if you mess with Haley best know she plays dirty without a care in the world.
"Sorry love but at least you can make a wig out of your hair," I offered with a shrug
"Ya it's something," she sniffed staring at the bag of her hair,
"Alright sob time is over if anything that we did tonight comes back to me I'll slaughter you both in broad daylight," Haley threatened us, Lila and I nodded repeatedly, "Good now if you'll excuse me I have a son and lover to get back to and Harley take it easy," Haley said giving me a light hug before heading out the door
"Later skater, I owe you one and sorry about your hair," she shouted to Lila
"Does that mean what I think it means," Lila excited said
"You bet, just gotta convince Harley," Haley shouted waving bye one last time before she went into her car. The night air was pretty chilly so we didn't wait long outside as we watched Haley leave and went back inside. Lila was jumping up and down in joy. God knows why.
"Wishes do come true," she praised the sky while I looked at her like she had a screw loose.
"Did you guys eat yet?" I asked her
"Nope bitch knocked me out when you passed out so I'm starving," Lila groaned rubbing her flat stomach.
"I'm not going out, we order what you want?" I asked
"Burgers please," she said
"Kinda craving the same thing," I said, ordering our meals online with side drinks, my head was still pounding and the painkillers hadn't kicked in yet so I went to lie down while we waited for our meals. Even though looking at the screen just made my headache even more I couldn't help text Randall back because it would just be rude to leave him on read and he just made me smile without even trying.
"Foods here," Lila yelled excitedly when the doorbell rang like I couldn't hear it
"I have ears you know," I told her when I walked to open the door, "Thank you," I told the delivery guy and paid, making sure we had the right order before taking the food.
"Burgers burgers burgers," Lila sang, taking the bag from me and heading to the kitchen to dish the food out, I swear she was a kid in an adult body.
I was too occupied by Randall texting me to even care about food so I let Lila eat while I went to the bedroom to get some privacy, I couldn't answer his call with Lila peeping round the corner so I closed the door behind me.
"Hey," I answered
"Hey you," he slowly said, his voice deep and gruff like he just got out of bed, so damn hot.
"How are you?" I asked
"I'm good, thanks just got back from work and relaxing now. What about you?" He asked me
"This late?" I asked
"Ya restaurant closed quite late tonight," He said
"Oh sorry but I'm alright just an annoying headache is all," I said
"Shame, do you want me to come over and take care of you?" He asked seriously and my heart skipped a beat
"As much as I would love that unfortunately I have a guest to take care of," I groaned
"No worries another time so who's your guest then?" He asked
"Just my friend Lila crushing over for god knows how long," I smiled
"Oh, kind and beautiful aren't you just the perfect angel," he said
"Oh I wouldn't go that far I'm no angel darling," I chuckled
"Then a very hot devil," he chuckled
"Indeed," I agreed with a wide smile, my face was hurting from smiling too much but I couldn't help it. Randall had that effect on me.
"So my hot little devil, what do you like to do for fun?" He asked, the sound of him calling me his, gave me conflicted feelings. For one it was cute but I didn't get that same spark when Cole called me his when he joked.
"You mean apart from eating babies and ripping the flesh off old people?" I joked
"Apart from that," he laughed
"Anything not work-related, just chilling with friends or going for a stroll," I said
"She acts like she's sixty when she's only twenty-eight," Lila yelled when she entered the room hearing what Randall said,
"Get that shit off my bed," I warned her when she put her plate of food on the bed,
"Yes ma'am," she laughed placing it on the nightstand as she sat next to me trying to eavesdrop
"Evening Lila," Randall said politely
"Evening? it's near damn midnight dude," she answered
"Fair point, how are you?" He asked her
"As good as any girl who woke up with their head shaved off can be," she grumbled giving me the stink eye
"What did I do?" I said raising my hands
"What happened?" Randall asked in concern,
"See for yourself," Lila said snatching my phone away from me
"Hey!" I protested trying to get it back but she dodged my hand
"Look what her bitch sister did to me," Lila said angrily once she requested a video call, he accepted it.
"Wow," he said staring at her bald head trying not to laugh
"You see what type of crazy you're getting yourself in if you date this chick, her sister is the devil's incarnation," she said
"I beg to differ she's more his sister than incarnation," I corrected her
"What fucking difference does that make?" Lila asked, Randall, looked at me with the same expression Lila had.
"Never mind," I mumbled with an eye roll
"You best be sure you ready for the craziness before dating this one," Lila said pointing at me with her thumb
"Excuse me," I said annoyed
"Bathrooms straight ahead," she blankly said making Randall laugh his ass off,
"I like her," he laughed
"Glad someone appreciates my presence," she said smugly
"Oh get off your high horse," I said, grabbing my phone from her staring at Randall with an awed look. He was sitting in his bed with no shirt on showing his broad shoulders, my mind went down a dangerous path as I handed back the phone to Lila who gave me a strange look before realising why,
"Haha this is what turns you on pathetic," she laughed, I gasped and hit her across the head.
"Shut up," I said with embarrassment written all over my face but I was just glad he couldn't see it.
"Oh relax you need to have more of a backbone so what if you think he's hot, he probably thinks you're like a goddess or something," she said as if he wasn't listening to our conversation
"She's right though," he chimed
"Thanks for the advice but I'm going to take it from here so why don't you go eat at the dinner table like any sane person and give me some privacy," I told Lila who rolled her eyes at my request but respected my decision and left taking her plate with her,
"Close the door behind you," I told
"Why are you going to do sexting?" She asked with a raised brow
"The damn door Lila," I frustratingly said embarrassed to the core
"Alright keep your knickers on," she said and closed the door behind her
"I'm sorry about her she doesn't have a damn filter," I said with a sigh
"No need to worry, at least she's honest unlike most people in this world, we could learn a thing or two from her," he said smiling
"Ya no never take advice from her because one it's either going to be a bunch of nonsense or amazing advice but outrageous and might end you up in jail," I said
"Wow," he laughed, the sound was like the heavens opening up above, it was contagious and made you smile. It reminded me of Cole's laugh and that just made me miss him more than I realized.
"I miss you," I said out loud forgetting I was talking to Randall
"You're always welcome to come over when you want," he offered kindly, I tried to smile back but it was forced because he wasn't the man I missed, the man I missed was thousands of miles away and hadn't called me once since he left. It was unfair of me to be thinking of Cole when I knew that ship was never going to sail, while on the other hand this ship with Randall being the captain was ready to set sail and I had to take his hand before he left because I couldn't wait forever on that portside waiting for a ship that would never take me.
