Chapter 11: Chapter 11
"Just tell me why I shouldn't drag your ass across this stable and beat the crap out of you?" I asked nonchalantly with a neutral expression, the two women looked at each other questionably wondering whether I was serious or not, I was a hundred per cent serious.
"Now Harley we are civilized women here and we can sort our issues without violence or nasty words," Diana calmly said
"Do I look white to you?" I asked making Lila snicker and cover it up with a cough
"Pardon?" Diana asked blankly like she didn't understand what I just said
"Do I look white to you?" I said slowly
"I heard what you said I was hoping you would fix your mistake because that was extremely racist to your kind," Diana said
"To my kind?" I said in disbelief, "This woman," I said staring at her
"Diana I think you should tell her why you're here before I end up having to walk home with your head shoved up my ass, "Lila said, placing her hand on Dina's shoulder who looked at her puzzled but listened.
"Uh so I hear you and my sister had a fight a pretty nasty one at that," she said
"Ya, sure we did so?" I asked
"So I came to apologise on behalf of my sister because she clearly won't," she said with a sigh
"Thanks but you don't need to apologise for anything she started this whole fight but I'm thankful in a way as well, Liam and I's relationship was heading south and I'm glad we broke up before it turned ugly," I said
"Glad something good came out of it then," she said and waited expecting me to say something
"Yes?" I asked taking a sip of my whiskey
"I believe you also owe my sister an apology for nearly sending her to the hospital," she said
"I owe your sister shit quite frankly she still owes me a proper apology for what she did to me," I angrily said making Diana grit her teeth she wasn't a woman who got told off often.
"Ladies let's keep the claws at bay, it's such a lovely day why don't we go for a walk," Lila said dazed, the dumb girl couldn't hold her liquor for the life of her.
"Just shut the hell up Lila, I've heard enough of your shrill voice it makes me want to drill my brain out," I said annoyed
"Don't you dare speak to her like that," Diana defended her, things were getting pretty heated quickly since we all had our second shots of whiskey and were feeling the buzz.
"I don't know you but you're already getting on my nerves," I said irritably
"I could say the same thing about you," Diana said narrowing her eyes at me
"You guys look so hot when you're angry," Lila hummed, biting her lip. Diana and I looked at her questionably.
"I'm gay guys," she whooped loudly attracting a few wondering eyes, my eyes practically bulged out of their sockets, "And I never slept with Liam I was only there for Veronica and can I just say she had such a voluptuous set of boobs and such a perfect smooth not to mention yummy m-" she rumbled on
"Ok that's enough out of you," Diana slapped her hand over Lila's mouth and cringed her ears pink out of embarrassment, I couldn't blame her for imagining someone describing your sister in such a vulgar manner.
"So you're telling me Veronica was the only reason you continued that charade?" I asked
"Yap," Lila giggled popping the p
"Wow," Diana said in disbelief trying to wrap her head around this, "Excuse me for a moment I think I need to speak to my sister," she got up and left going to the women's bathroom
"Shit," I cursed rummaging through my purse to see Diana calling Veronica
"Ooh secrets, secrets," Lila sang watching my every move
"Shut it," I said switching the phone off and looking up innocently at Lila who had her attention on a passing waitress
"Look at that ass," she cat-whistled, making the girl turn around to stare at us awkwardly with a small smile, I facepalmed.
"Dear God help me," I muttered
"If you'll excuse me I'm going to get her number," Lila said, getting up only to stagger on her wedges. I was so conflicted on what to feel about what Lila just said, she might have lied but what would she gain from that? This was all too confusing and the alcohol was finally hitting my brain and so for once, I decided not to worry and let life take its course as I got wasted since Diana was going to pay. If I couldn't hurt her physically I might as well do it through her wallet. I ordered an entire Absolut vodka bottle just to take home later,
"Mama mia you can drink," Lila slurred looking at the nearly empty wine glass I ordered about ten minutes ago, I just wanted to drown my worries away and alcohol was the only thing that worked for me.
"Wanna join," I hiccuped feeling dizzy
"Don't mind if I do," she said taking the bottle and gulping it down quite quickly,
"Hey, I didn't mean the whole bottle," I whined
"Too late," she laughed licking her lips,
"I leave you two for less than thirty minutes and you're already wasted," Diana sighed muttering curse words as she looked at the bottles of alcohol, she took out her credit card with a scowl and pinned down a waiter to get the bill.
"You better remember this next time we meet again because now you two owe me," Diana said narrowing her eyes at us
"I owe you shit," I slurred giving her my middle finger
"What she said," Lila chimed in like an excited chihuahua
"Putain de chiennes," she cursed gritting her teeth
"Here you go ma'am," the waiter said handing her a card machine, "Can I get you a bag for that?" He asked
"Yess sirr," I hummed with a wide smile, he was a pretty attractive young looking waiter.
"I hope you two head home in one piece," Diana said one last time before she left the cafe
"Buzzkill," I mutter sticking my tongue out at the door
"Tell me about it," Lila agreed with a giggle making me laugh, we laughed for no reason like someone told the funniest joke but it was just the alcohol messing with our brain sense.
"Let's go before we get kicked out," I said laughing regaining some sort of sense
"Your place?" She asked
"What the heck ya," I said with a shrug of my shoulder feeling like I forgot something but couldn't remember what. We laughed our way out of the store like a bunch of maniacs holding on to each other for balance.
"Now what?" Lila asked looking at my car we couldn't drive because we were intoxicated but I didn't want to leave my car here.
"Wait I know," I said excitedly pulling out my phone to call Cole to come drive my car,
"Damn it," I cursed remembering he wasn't even on land yet
"What?" Lila asked
"Coles not here," I whined
"So what should we do?" She asked
"I'll drive and if we die blame the alcohol," I said getting into my car
"Fair point," she giggled, getting into the driver's seat. I was the worst drunk driver not because I drove recklessly but because I drove at a snail's pace to make sure we didn't kill anyone.
"Ooh radio," Lila said excitedly, turning the volume on loud, 'Starships by Nicki Minaj' was playing, vibrating loudly through the speakers. Lila opened the windows and began singing at the top of her lungs,
"Starships were meant to fly,
Hands up and touch the sky
Can't stop 'cause we're so high
Let's do this one more time, oh," she sang loudly and off-key, making me laugh as we got strange looks from drivers passing us.
"Careful," I shouted over the music since she was sticking her head out the window.
"Don't be such a mom," she yelled back, "Now I know why dogs love this so much," She shouted sticking her tongue out
"You might not wanna do that," I said under my breath with a shake of my head,
"Ugg *ptui* gross I think a bug just flew into my nose," she cried, getting her head back inside and turned the music down, I muffled my laugh with a cough but couldn't hide the big smile on my face.
"Check in my bag I might have tissue in there," I told her and she immediately rummaged through my bag getting a piece of tissue to blow her nose.
"Look how big it is," she cringed showing me her snotty tissue
"I did not need to see that," I gagged looking back at the road
"Harley?" She called getting a bit serious as she looked at me with sober eyes
"Ya?" I asked
"I'm sorry for what I did to you, you're my closest friend and I just feel like shit for betraying you like that," she said sadly looking down at her hands in shame
"No worries, water under the bridge," I said with a flick of the wrist. I may forgive her but that didn't mean I'll ever forget what she did.
"Really?" She asked hopefully her eyes lighting up
"Really," I said smiling warmly
"Thank you," she said, attacking me with a surprise hug that made me swerve the car nearly into the other lane.
"Shit Lila look what you nearly made me do," I yelled getting control of the car with my racing heartbeat,
"Sorry, I just can't do anything right," she whimpered
"Don't say that ok it was just an honest mistake and look we're in one piece," I said trying to make her feel better.
"I'm sorry," she said once more
"The only person you need to apologize to is yourself, you're too hard on yourself," I told her while parking in my complex. "Though I am curious about you and chad what's that all about if you're gay?" I asked
"Oh lol Chad's my cousin," she laughed
"Come again," I said in shock, I would've never pegged them to be related since they kissed and made out in public.
"Don't get your thong in a twist, the make-outs were just for show," she nonchalantly said waiting for me to unlock my door, I was just too shocked to even move or look away from her.
"Are you going to open it or are we going to freeze to death outside," She asked with a raised brow
"Right door," I said taking out my keys to unlock my door,
"Nice place but what's with all the kid stuff," she said
"Shit Kyle," I gasped finally remembering I left him at my ma's place. I'm sure she wouldn't mind having him for the rest of the afternoon. I'll fetch him later after all he was the only human she likes spending time with.
"My nephew's things," I said locking my door and heading to the kitchen to put the vodka away
"Hang on there I'm still way too sober bring that here," she ordered flopping on my couch as if she lived here, I just shook my head with a smile and took out two shot glasses. I sat next to her removing my shoes and put the tv on,
"So you aren't uncomfortable with me being lesbian?" She asked out of the blue catching me off guard
"I couldn't care whether you were bi, straight, transgender or queer what I do care is being lied to," I said
"Ya sorry again," she said
"It's alright but you're right we're too sober," I said pouring us each a shot
"To friendship," she said clinking our shot glass together
"To friendship," I said, gulping my shot down and pulling a sour face, feeling it burn down my throat.
"Another my friend," Lila whooped
"Another, '' I agreed, pouring some more, and so we drank our emotions away for the rest of the afternoon, getting sick on my tiles and dancing to our heart's content. Quite frankly I missed hanging out with Lila she just understood me without having to even explain myself I suppose you could say she was my sister from another mother with her light brown skin tone, dark brown eyes, an hourglass five foot five figure with long black hair that reached mid-back and always looked shiny and well maintained. We did fight as most friends do but we never let it break our friendship and I suppose this was another bump in the road for us but we are going to get through it as we get through everything together.
By six in the evening, we were knocked out cold and I only woke up to my phone ringing.
"Hello," I hoarsely answered
"The kid wants to come back," I heard my ma answer agitated
"I'm fine, thank you mother, how are you?" I said sarcastically
"Just get here you tyrant," she said and hung up, I groaned and got up stepping in some liquid when I looked down it was a pile of vomit. I gagged and tried so hard not to throw up,
"Wake up," I said shaking Lila vigorously
"I'm up what?" She groaned
"Clean your mess up I'm going to pick my nephew up," I said
"Later," she grumbled trying to fall back asleep
"I mean now Lila," I urgently said pulling her ear
"Ok ok jeez," she grumbled sitting up with a yawn
I took off my sock and walked to the bathroom to take a quick shower and brush my teeth, the cold water sobered me up pretty quickly.
"Oh god, my head is killing me. Where are your pain killers?" Lila asked me when I came out of the bedroom to see her progress in cleaning her mess, there was no progress.
"Second draw on your left nightstand," I said with a sigh she wasn't going to clean up so I did regrettably. The stench alone made my stomach churn but I sucked it up and cleaned the floor till it was squeaky clean and smelt like cleaning products.
"Where are your towels?" Lila yelled from the bedroom,
"Bottom draw on your right in the big cupboards," I yelled back, I put back the cleaning products and went outside to throw away the mess in the drains placing the mop and bucket in the bin, I was never going to use them again and it was too old anyway.
"Oh thanks for cleaning up my mess," Lila said, coming out of the shower with only a towel around her.
"Anytime," I mumbled, repeatedly scrubbing my hands with the metal cleaner, I might be a bit of a germaphobe.
"Thanks for letting me stay after-" she let the sentence hung uncomfortable and shameful for what she did,
"Don't mention it," I said handing her a cup of coffee and some french toast,
"Thanks," she said happily sitting on the table
"Don't you wanna change first?" I asked her
"What?" She asked confusedly
"Never mind, have something on other than a towel when I come back," I told her
"Why?" She asked
"Cause I'm fetching my nephew," I answered
"Oh ok," and so I left her be and headed downstairs to my car still feeling a bit light-headed.
Clearly, by now Cole should've landed yet he didn't call me. Maybe he was expecting me to call or didn't even want me to call him. Maybe I was just thinking about this too much, he went to see his family, not wasting time calling me while his mother was unwell, wow I was selfish.
