Chapter 25: Chapter 25
KIARA’S POV
The look on Kevin’s face was priceless when I slapped him. I didn’t want to do this but this was the best way to draw everyone’s attention. Now, they would be forced to listen to me.
‘Don’t speak a single word. Let me handle this.’ I had just mouthed these words when Cami pulled my hair and dragged me away from Kevin.
She roared in an infuriated voice, “What do you think of yourself, Kiara? How dare you try to ruin my special day? I am the Luna of this pack. If you don’t leave immediately I will have you killed!”
I grasped her hand and twisted it behind her back. I snorted and bit back, “Haven’t you learned that wishful thinking leads you nowhere? I was chosen by the moon goddess as Kevin’s mate. So the position of the Luna of this pack belongs to me.”
“I can’t believe that you both are fighting like wild cats. Stop it right now!” The alpha’s voice boomed sending a slight shiver down my spine.
Kevin’s Mom and Risha pulled us away from each other and held us in place.
The Alpha walked in front of me and asked in a stern voice, “What is the meaning of this?”
“I am just fighting for my rights,” I replied indignantly, shrugging my shoulders.
“You really think you are entitled to be the Luna of this pack. Have you forgotten that Kevin has rejected you?”
Those words stung me and my blood boiled when I realized that Cami had played a huge role in it. I couldn’t stop myself from retorting, “That was because this b**** created misunderstanding between us…”
“Mind your language, girl! I have known Cami all my life. She will never do anything wrong. You can leave…”
My heart ached to see that Kevin’s father didn’t even want to give me a chance to explain. Anyway, I had only myself to blame.
The crowd started jeering too, “Yes, you should leave…”
“Kevin and Cami and perfect for each other…”
“You are like an eternal eclipse in his life…”
“We were all so happy when you left… why did you return?”
I tried to ignore their vengeful statements but they stung… they sliced my heart like a knife and tears rolled down my cheeks despite my best efforts…
I stole a glance at Kevin to find him shaking with anger. He was about to speak up but I shook my head vigorously and mouthed, ‘Don’t do anything stupid!’
“You can see that no one wants you to be the Luna of this pack. You should leave…” Kevin’s father said in an icy cold voice.
When I didn’t budge from my place he commanded, “Collins, take her away and make sure she doesn’t enter this place ever again!”
He was about to grab my hand when Nivaan’s voice sounded, “If anyone dares to lay their hand on my sister, I will rip their heads off!”
He walked briskly to the stage with the confidence of an Alpha. Coming to a halt before Kevin’s father he said, “Greetings from the Alpha of the Rustic Pack.”
The expression of father’s face became softer as he said, “Nivaan Lockhart, I am glad that you made it.”
“I am glad I came too. How else would I find out that The Mystical Pack returns favor with insults…”
“If you find out what Kiara has done you will understand why I wanted her to leave…”
“I am a busy man Mr. Gilkins. So many packs depend on me for giving them antidotes. I don’t have time to deal with such trivial issues.
Since Kiara wants to marry Kevin, I would like to request to give my sister a fair chance.”
I was impressed with the Nivaan spoke to Kevin’s father. He was so calm, composed, and poised that even Kevin’s father became slightly flustered.
“I am really grateful that you are helping us but I can’t let you interfere in the matters of my pack.”
“Ummm… I see… I thought we were friends… to be honest, we are short on antidotes. So, we will be prioritizing. Good to know that we have one less pack to consider…,” Nivaan said in a clipped voice, grabbed my hand, and started walking down the stage.
“Are you crazy? If we leave how will we stop the ceremony?” I whispered, trying to get him to stop.
“Just wait for it…,” Nivaan said, dragging me along. We had reached the exit by now and no one seemed interested in stopping us. If Nivaan screwed this one up I would never forgive him…
We had just stepped onto the main road when Alpha Andrew’s voice boomed in the clearing, “In the light of recent events, I am putting this ceremony on hold till the next full moon. I am sure we would have sorted out all our differences by then. Thanks for coming…”
“Sweet Baby Bunnies! He actually postponed the ceremony. You are amazing, bro!” I said and threw myself at him.
He chuckled slightly and rubbed my back saying, “Anything for you, sis…”
I was so happy that I was almost hanging by his neck. He disentangled my arms and said, “Behave… Alpha Gilkins must be coming to meet us any moment…”
I had just smoothened the creases on my dress when Kevin’s father came running. I let Nivaan speak with him and sneaked away to find Kevin. I had to explain everything to him before he went crazy…
