Chapter 33: Chapter 33

Sunny

"Aww. The characters are both cool," I praised the characters. "I suddenly want to become a police officer, too." I added.

"What?" He asked.

I shook my hands. "Do not mind me. It is just my mouth speaking. When I watch dramas and see how cool their professions are, I feel like I can do that too. Do you know that feeling? I want to be like them because I might look cool and can do the same." I shared my experience.

As an avid fan of dramas, every time I see a great profession, I feel like I want to take that course too. They look so amazing.

"What are the other professions you have seen already?" Steven asked.

"There are many," I replied. "There is a doctor, nurse, attorney, lawyer, reporter, and so much more," I told him. "But in reality, I do not think I can do them." I said, laughing.

I cannot become a doctor. I cannot look at the blood. I feel like vomiting. I cannot be a lawyer or an attorney because the fight is too intense. I might cry there. I am happy with what I am taking now. I love my future work.

"How about you? You told me before that you are just taking education because you will get the diploma. Do you have a dream job that you want to achieve?" I asked Steven.

He sips at his juice. "I had only one plan," He replied. "At first, I just want to get the diploma because that's what employers look for when you are looking for work, right?" He said.

I nodded. "In today's generation, whatever job you want, they are asking for our degree. Sometimes, they will not take you even if you do not have it. They will pick the most suitable option. When the wage is just the minimum." I shared.

I have heard many stories from people I know. I met someone who could not finish her studies and had just finished her high school degree. When she applied for work, she was turned down because of it. Instead, they chose the person who had completed a two-year course in college.

I find it sad because they are basing it on our degrees. Maybe we can work fine like those who finished a two-year course. I hope they were not basing it on it. They should look at our talent and how hardworking we are.

"That is why I told my parents I would study outside and get some diplomas." He shared.

"Do you have any work you want to do?" I asked him.

"I need to work under my parents, like Mavin," He said. "There are still things I cannot tell you because it is very confidential, but our family is like working in a government agency." He added.

Woah. Is his whole family working for the government?

"Are you guys a big deal? Now that you are saying this. I feel like your family is a big shot. Your grandparents were working to save people before," I commented. "So, you will just get the diploma because you will apply to your own company? Can your brother just accept you? After all, I think you will be a responsible worker or is there no such thing as a brother? You need to get the job on your own?"

"He can just accept me and work for him." He responded.

"Then why are you still doing this?" I asked again.

"Because I feel like it is too easy for me." He replied.

I stopped him. Using my two hands, I showed it in front of him. "Wait," I said. "There are still spaces I do not get." I added.

His eyebrows creased. "What is it?" He asked.

"You just transferred here, right? So, it means you went to your school in your town. Is that it?" I asked him. He nodded. "If you have your university in your town, why bother going away and studying here when you can just study there?" I asked, confused.

There is something I do not understand. I feel like something I do not know makes me ask questions.

"We have schools and universities, but it is different here. They lack things about―there are just things that we cannot see there that you have here. That is why I decided to explore outside our town and went here." He shared.

"Is that so? Do provinces still lack education? I hope the government will focus on that problem and find a solution. So that the students there would be able to learn what we are learning here. They deserve to learn too." I explained.

So, they were living in the province.

"Do you think I suit being an educator too?" He suddenly asked, and that made my eyes widen. "I am just asking." He added, feeling awkward on his own.

I nodded aggressively. "You are smart. Do you know that? You know many things that some of us do not know. If you decide to be an educator, you will do well. We already learned from your teaching method when we do not get something. You suit being one. As in, no jokes included." I told him honestly.

"Really?" He asked. "I am enjoying what I am doing at our school. I find it interesting. I find talking to them fine, and I am not shy or awkward anymore." He confessed.

I smiled. "See! Our classmates are good friends. You will enjoy their company because they will not let you go alone. We are in this together. I would not be surprised if you became an educator too," I told him. "But would your parents be okay with that? You know, your family is working on just one line. Would they mind you being an educator?" I asked him.

He shrugged his shoulders. "I do not know. But we will see soon. If I made up my mind." He replied.

"Make sure to tell me your decisions, okay?" I said.

He nodded. We quietly continue the drama. I somehow find the actors and actresses amazing. They can deliver their lines perfectly. It seems like they are studying laws. Their expressions and moves are superb.

After a few hours, Mavin came to Steven's room. He was sitting beside me. "You guys are having fun without me. This is so unfair. How could you do this behind my back?" He told us, pouting as if we did this behind his back.

"What are you talking about?" I asked him. "You are having a meeting downstairs. How could we ask you to watch with us when you do an important thing with your employees? Are you crazy?" I added. "Would you leave your employees downstairs if you were going to join us?"

"Still unfair," He replied. "They are gone now. They went home." He added.

"What is Grandma doing?" I asked.

"I think she is washing the dishes." Mavin replied.

I look at the laptop. "Steven, remind me, I stopped at episode four, thirty-two minutes. I will go down and help Grandma. Do not forget." I made sure of that before rushing down to help Grandma.

I saw Grandma washing the plates already. "Grandma, I will do it," I said and started helping her. "Just rest at the living room. Let me do this." I told her.

"How is Steven?" Grandma asked.

"He loves drama now, grandma. I think we can invite him to our drama day at our house." I boasted.

"You made him watch them? Does he find it good?"

"He did. I was about to ask him if we should watch movies, but he clicked on the next episode. We are on episode four now," I replied. "He also said that he is enjoying our course now. That is good news, grandma, right?"

Grandma smiled. "I am happy that they are enjoying being here. Mavin also told me that he loves staying here." She said.

After that, I washed the dishes and helped grandma clean the living room again. We told them we were going home, but Mavin said to wait for him. He went back upstairs and went down with Steven.

"Let's go. I will send you to your home." Mavin said.

"You do not have to send us home, Mavin. We can just ride a taxi. You are tired from the meeting. You should rest." Grandma said.

"She is right, Mavin. We will be fine." I seconded.

Mavin just shook his head and headed outside first. "No, it will be dark soon. I will send you off. No more saying no. It is still dangerous to walk outside," He replied. "We need to make sure you go home safely and fine. Right, Steven?" He said this and turned to his younger brother.

Steven nodded. "He is right." He said.

Ultimately, we rode their car and let Mavin and Steven send us home. They are just ensuring our safety, and they are right too. When we got home, we invited the two to have dinner at our house, which they gladly accepted.

"Good evening, auntie!" Mavin greeted my mom. "Finally, nice to meet you. I heard you can see my younger brother more. I envy that." He added.

"You are welcome to come here anytime. I also heard that you are busy with your work," Mom replied. "Sunny, help your sister at the dining table so we can eat now." Mom added.

"How is your work? Is it hard, or can you still manage it?" Mom asked Mavin as they sat on the chair.

"I am doing good, auntie. It is hard but still manageable," Mavin replied, laughing. "I have hardworking employees." He even boasted.

"That's good to hear. Do not stress yourself at work," Mom reminded him. "How about you, Steven? How's school? Do you cope with them, or do you feel like you are behind?" She then asks Steven.

"I am coping, auntie. Our classmates are nice." Steven replied.

"I am happy you are doing well. If you have a problem and need some parents' help, do not hesitate to call me. I am just one call away. Your parents are away. I can stand in as one temporarily," Mom said. "Let's eat. Eat as many as you can. Do not be shy."

We enjoyed our dinner with Mavin's story. Steven was smiling all the time because of his brother. "Tell your parents I asked them." Mom informed them.

"Do not worry, auntie. If they hear about this, they will come here again. We will invite you to our house to eat." Mavin replied.

"We are looking forward to that." Grandma said.

"We will go now," Mavin said. "Thank you for dinner, auntie. We enjoyed it, and it was delicious. It is like we are eating in a fine restaurant." He complimented.

"We are glad you enjoyed the dinner," Mom said. "Take care on your way. Drive safely. Message Sunny if you guys are home already." She added.

"We will. Thank you!"

"Thank you, auntie. Good night." Steven commented.

We headed inside after the two headed away.

"Mavin was talkative, and Steven is the opposite." My sister commented, laughing at the two brothers.

"How do they manage to talk to their house? Steven does not look like someone who will talk to his brother for a long time." Mom asked.

"Steven only stayed in his room. That is why Mavin is just watching movies in the living room." Grandma replied.

"Poor Mavin." We laughed.

After our dinner, I got a quick shower to prepare for sleep. As I entered my room, I noticed my phone flashing. I looked at it and saw Steven's message that they were home safe now.

I opened my door and peered my head out. "Steven texted me. They are home safe now. Thank you again for dinner. It was the best, he said!" I yelled at them for them to hear it.

"Okay!" I heard them reply, so I returned to my room and lay on my bed.

I was typing my reply when I received a text from him again. "Let's watch it tomorrow?" I read his message. "Oho! He is enjoying the drama. We can watch it together now, though?"

I sent him a message asking if he wanted to continue the drama, and he said we could watch it together through dascord. After a few minutes, I received a message from Steven saying he would fix himself first and get back to me in ten minutes. While waiting, I got some snacks to munch on and some water. I also prepared my uniform for our class tomorrow. Before we watched the drama, I sent him the link so he could log in.

"You are enjoying dramas now. Oh my gosh, I am so proud of you and myself for converting you to a drama addict." I teased him.

"Whatever. The plot is good, and also, we watched it together. I also think that we should finish it together."
