Chapter 26: Chapter 26

Steven

We followed the professor and headed to the place where we could get tables and chairs. I think this is their storehouse.

"I brought some rags here. Wipe the chair so that it does not get on your uniform." The professor said and handed us the small rags.

As the professor said, we wiped the chair and after that we started bringing the chair to the room.

"Oh, that is Sunny's boyfriend? Right?" One of our classmates said something that made my head turn in the direction where he was looking.

"That goddamn jerk is having fun while talking to other girls?" Marco commented. "How dare he?" He asked.

"Why? Is he hurting our Sunny?" Philip asked. "That damn assy. I will throw this chair at him right now." He added and changed his way towards where the jerk was.

"Hey! Hey! Calm down." I told him and quickly followed him to get him back on the right track. "Wait. This is not the right time to do that. Calm down. We have a professor here. Do not cause trouble for her." I told him.

"Does that mean we can do anything when there is no professor around?" Sam asked.

I shook my head. "Still, no. I do not want to get into trouble. Do you want Sunny to get hurt?" I asked him back.

They all sighed loudly. The jerk is talking to a girl, and they are busy laughing and smiling. He can talk freely and does not look busy, but he can not make time for Sunny?

So, this is what he looks like?

Ugly.

"JAKE!" yelled one of my classmates.

Jerk cast a glance in our direction. They are all telling him that he is dead. Slicing their neck from left to right. Jerk's expression turned from confused to scared.

I guess he knows what they mean.

We headed to the third floor and put the chairs inside. The students are all waiting, standing outside their rooms.

"Ma'am, why are there no chairs here? Since when did this happen?" Marco asked curiously.

"Ahh, no. Actually, yesterday we bring our chairs down since they are all broken and not safe to use anymore. The storehouse was closed yesterday, that is why we are not able to bring chairs here. Thank you very much for the help." The professor replied. "Class, say thank you to them." she added.

"Thank you!"

"Thank you very much!"

"We will help you too next time!"

"No problem! Let's greet each other everywhere! We got your back too." Marco replied.

We headed back to our room.

"Their eyes are shooting hearts." Bentley commented.

Shooting hearts?

I did not see them do that though.

When did they do that?

"I think he is still not aware." Marco commented, and that made me look at him. "And he is now looking at me." He added that it made the others laugh too.

I pointed at myself. "Me? What about me?" I asked him. "Were you referring to me when you mentioned the shooting heart?" I asked again.

"Come on, man. You look good. Their eyes were all looking at you a while ago. I envy you." Jericho replied.

"Am I supposed to say thank you or what?" I asked Jericho back, and that made them laugh again.

I really do not get them.

We came back to our room and saw our professor going inside of the room.

Studying like a normal human is fun. I'm learning a lot about their history and discovering things I didn't know before. Mom told me before that it was really fun, especially the high school days. She misses the school and her friends. I do not know if they are still in contact with her friends.

After our two subjects, Marco and the other boys called me to join them for lunch at the cafeteria. At first, I was hesitating because I could not really stand the long talks, but I ended up going with them since Marco grabbed me and never let go of my arms.

"Why do I need to come with you?" I asked them as we sat in the vacant chairs to eat our lunch.

"This is what we call boys' time." Philip commented. "You are starting to make friends, right? This is how we do things." He added.

I guess I need to go with the flow. I need to cooperate.

"Also, we need to talk about Sunny. Is her boyfriend hurting her?" Mark asked.

I am confused. "Why? Why are you asking me this? I am not Sunny. You should have asked her, not me." I told them.

They shook their heads.

"You guys are close already. Everyone can tell how close you guys are. We can not ask her things like this. She might cry, and that is what we are trying to avoid. So tell us now, is he hurting our friend?" Ivan replied.

I sighed.

"Ask Marco." I told them.

They all turned to Marco and let him tell the story. As they learn the story, their reactions turn to uhh...not a good one.

"Should we beat him after class?" As Chris suggested.

"Where should we beat him? We can not beat him near here or any place with CCTV. We will just put ourselves in danger." Justin commented.

"We can just send him death threats first. It is better than beating him, but if he does that again, then that is the time to beat him." Gino suggested.

They sound serious.

"Will you guys really do that because he is hurting Sunny?" I asked them.

Bentley knocks over the table. "Of course! Sunny has been our friend since first year." Bentley replied. "We have been through many hardships, and we never let each other down. We can not let that ugly Jake hurt our friend." He added.

"Whenever we have problems, Sunny will make sure to help us, whatever and whenever it is. Sunny is kind. Now that he needs our help, we should help her in any way." Sam explained.

This is the real meaning of friendship. Now, I get what they meant about helping each other. It is not just about helping with their academic things, but also other problems they might encounter.

After having our lunch, we walked back to our room. We did try to wait for Jake to come to the cafeteria, but he never did. I do not think he will go here since he knows that we are here. The threat they made a while ago is already working.

"Boo!" Sunny said, trying to surprise me. "Tsk. You are not surprised at all. So, how was your lunch with the boys?" She asked.

I sat in my chair. "It's good. Why are you asking?" I asked her back.

"I am just happy that you are taking a step now." She said, smiling widely. Almost looking proud of what I did. She is so bright to look at. Her name suits her. "Did you talk there? Or do you just listen to what they are saying?" She asked.

"I talked." I replied.

She is now looking at me with her doubtful expression.

"I did. You can ask them if I did or not." I added.

She laughed. "Okay, okay. Calm down. I believe you now. Why are you getting mad?" She asked, holding her stomach from laughing. "You sound so defensive. I will share this with Mavin." She added. "But seriously, I am glad that you are trying now." She added and smiled.

This time, her smile is genuine. Sweetly.

"Ugly."

She quickly pouted after hearing my comment.

"I will tell this to auntie and uncle!" She replied.

"I can help you tell them." I mocked her.

"Meanie! Shiela, Steven said I am ugly! Can you help me beat this man?!" Sunny told Shiela. "Are you crazy? Why are you smiling after telling me I was ugly? Are you getting crazy because of reading tons of books?" She asked frustrated.

She went back to her chair after not getting any answers from me, throwing a tantrum.

After our class, she quickly went out with her bag. She walks fast as if there is someone chasing her. Shiela was not yet finished fixing her belongings and yet she flashed out of the room in a snap.

"Where is she going? Why is she in a rush?" I asked Shiela.

"Oh? She did not tell you?" Shiela asked back.

"About what?" I answered, confused. "Is she supposed to tell me something?"

Shiela nodded. "You are the one who told her to talk to her damn boyfriend. She is going to talk to him now. She will go to his building to see him personally because he is not answering her messages at all." She explained.

"Where is the building?" I asked.

"The red railings. Why?" She replied.

"Nothing. I will go. Take care on your way home." I said and walked out of our room to follow Sunny.

Why did not she tell me a while ago?

I look over and find the building where there are red railings. Every department has different railings. Ours was blue and theirs was red. Sunny said, they did that for our guest or visitor to avoid getting lost.

I was about to enter the building when I caught Sunny looking suspiciously at the corner of the building. She is like taking a peek.

I walked towards her and saw what she was looking at.

"That damn jerk." I commented that made Sunny look back.

"S-steven..." She muttered.

"I can not stand this anymore." I told her and lightly pushed her forward.

The two stopped kissing and looked shocked after seeing Sunny standing in front of them. Sunny also looked at me. Confusion was evident in her face.

Dang. Why is she so helpless?

I went out and faced them.

"So this is the secret place?" I asked, looking directly at the jerk. "Go and ask him." I told Sunny. "This is the reason and the answer to your questions. Better ask him now, Sunny. Now is the time to do that." I added.

Sunny slowly looks back at Jerk. "W-when? When are you planning to break off our relationship?" She finally asked. "Since when are you doing this behind my back?" She added. "What did I do to deserve this? If you do not like me anymore, you should have told me and called off our relationship. I am always waiting for you, thinking that you are busy with your school stuff. Is this the reason why you do not want me to call you without asking first?"

"How about you? Do you know about us? Then why are you still doing this when you know that he has a girlfriend?" She asked the girl.

"Answer. You guys are not mute or what." I told them. "She needs an answer." I added.

"And you? Who are you to meddle with us?" Jerk inquired, agitated.

"You do not have the right to get mad here." I replied. "I am Steven, one of her friends. You do not know about it because you are busy with her." I added, pointing to his other girl. "Be glad that I am the one who was here, not Shiela. I guess our threat a while ago did not work. I am afraid you need to hide for a while." I told him.

"Break off with him first, before he can." I advise Sunny.

"I was happy with you until these past few months. Thank you for the memories, and I hope you won't do this to her or anyone else. I am breaking up with you, Jake." Sunny said, standing tall. "And you, I hope you will be happy with him. I also hope that he won't do to you what he did to me." She added.

"Are you done now? Do you need to say something more?" I asked Sunny.

Sunny shook her head twice.

I nodded. "Go first. Wait for me at the gate. Call Shiela if you want to." I told her.

"H-huh?" She looked confused.
