Chapter 65: Chapter 65
It took me an entire day in my room to realise how my life had turned into some book—a book without a happy ending.
Zeus is my father and his wife wants me dead, not only that but Li Changying hates me and is helping Hera with her plans. Now that I thought it out loud, I felt my head spin. Lukas was missing, and I had no idea of him, which made it even worse.
My "father" respected my wish and left me alone for an entire day. I was hopeful that I could also convince him to let me go to Lukas. There has to be a reason he bought me to his place. My heart gripped in fear as I thought about those shadows. Who might have sent them to attack us? Did Zeus do that? I should ask him.
The door of my room was suddenly pushed open, and I sat up, brushing the loose strands of hair away from my face.
“Nefelie” I breathed.
“What do you want?”
“My King wants you to get dressed for lunch. You can pick out anything from the wardrobe, and the maids will be here to dress you up” Nefelie softly mumbled, pointing towards the sleek wooden wardrobe. I did not even bother to look inside, busy wallowing in self-pity on my bed the entire time.
Lunch? I thought with a grimace. Why would I want to dress up when I heartbroken and away from my home? What is Zeus playing at?
“Why?”
Nefelie was taken back by my rude tone and question. She meekly shrugged.
“I have no idea prinkipissa.”
I huffed, petulantly crossing my arms against my chest, “Why do you call me that? What does it mean?”
“It means princess in Greek.”
My mouth parted open at that. I had no idea that Zeus was calling me a princess. Should I worry about that? Even though he told me about my previous birth which I have no recollection whatsoever I didn’t want to accept it. What was the need for it anyway? He had more sons and daughters than I could even count. Why did he particularly bring me back from Hell? Why me?
Agitated, I stood up, “I want to talk to him first. Where is he?”
She wrapped arms around herself, staring at me for a few seconds with her eyes wide.
“I don’t-”
“Nefelie it’s urgent. I need to talk to my father” I cringed at the last part. If I had to put on a show to get to him, I would gladly do it.
She held back her smile, secretly elated that I referred to Zeus as my father. What is with them? Why does it even matter? I had so many questions from the moment I woke up but no one to answer them. You can imagine how frustrating that can be.
“My King is resting in his chamber. I can take you there if you want.”
“Yes, please. Lead the way.”

When Nefelie said Zeus was resting, I thought he would sleeping, but my dear father was getting his feet rubbed by two maids. That image burned in my head. I cleared my throat, knocking on the door as Nefelie immediately fled the scene.
The Greek God’s arm was resting over his eyes, his chest rising and falling at a steady pace. He was wearing a white shawl with golden plated clutch holding it together. The moment he heard my voice, he dismissed the maids and sat up, folding his hands together.
“Hello, Prinkipissa. Please sit” He pointed at the plush settee across his bed.
I collapsed on the cushion, pulling my legs together, taking the decor of the room.
“Can I help you with something?”
I turned to meet his eyes, “Yes, actually. Why did you ask me to dress up for lunch? Who are we having lunch with? Why am I still caged in my room?”
“Wow, that’s a lot of questions!” Zeus mused, a grin tugging at the corner of his lips. I was not at all amused, so I narrowed my eyes at him, my lips pressed in a firm line.
“Alright,” He took a deep breath.
“There is someone who wants to meet you.”
My brows quirked at that, “Meet me?”
He slightly hummed, still not meeting my eyes. Who would want to meet me? Why was Zeus not looking at me while talking? Was he hiding something again?
“Who is it?”
He blinked at that, his brows furrowed.
I sighed, “Who wants to meet me?”
He nervously licked his lips, shifting in his seat before he met my eyes, “Ajaxson. He sent a letter yesterday announcing that he will be here by noon. You need to get ready by then.”
“Who is he?” I questioned, crossing my arms.
Why does that Ajaxson person want to meet me of all people? Nothing made sense at all. Was he another Greek God? A demon perhaps? Whatever I was not in mood to meet anyone else.
Zeus made a sound, “Huh? Don’t you remember him? Ajaxson”
“No” I bluntly said.
Was he expecting me to remember each and everyone from my previous birth magically? So far, I have remembered nothing! Not even a single thing.
Zeus folded his lips in between his teeth, “He’s your best friend, I suppose...Jaxon! Yes, that’s what he said he goes by now.”
My blood went cold at the mention of my best friend. What did Jaxon have to do with all of this? After the stunt, he pulled last time I was disappointed in him because he wouldn’t take no for an answer. But how did he, a mortal meet Zeus?
“But he’s a human. I mean...how can he be this Ajaxson person?” I frowned, chewing on my lips.
Zeus shook his head, “He is a human-like you in this life, but he was a God in his previous life. I thought he might have told you this.”
“No” I gasped, “He didn’t tell me anything.”
Now that I thought about Jaxon, it all made sense. That’s why he was able to travel through the portal and enter Hell. He also confessed that he is in love with me. The last thing made my cheeks burn. I had no feelings for him other than friendly love. Is that even a thing? Whatever. I already made my intentions clear to him, so why was he trying to talk to me again? Also, if he knew about us already, why did he keep quiet for so many years. We were best friends, practically all our lives.
“That’s very strange,” Zeus mumbled out loud, a frown etched on his face.
“He told me that he met you in Hell and saw how unhappy you were. Also, that confessed his love for you, and you accepted it-”
“No, I did not!” I screamed abruptly, shaking my head. Why would he lie to Zeus? My jaw clenched.
Zeus took a deep breath, “Prinkipissa he told me that. He also said that Lukas is forcing you to have his baby and you are unhappy with him. That’s why I helped him. That’s why you are here, and Lukas is locked up somewhere.”
Locked up somewhere. Those words kept echoing in my ears. Tears burned my eyes as I thought about my mate being tortured and locked up in some dungeons.
Why would Jaxon lie about us? Thinking about it made my stomach turn up in disgust. I stared at my father, a glint in my eyes.
“Is that why you sent those shadows? To attack us and take me away?”
Zeus nodded his head, “I thought...they would be the only one who would help you get away from Lukas.”
My eyes widened in shock, and a sob tore through my lips.“Oh my god! What did you do? What did you do?!”
His face fell, and he immediately rushed towards me, sitting by my side. I slapped his hand away, wiping my tears. How can someone be so dense? Why did he not realise that Jaxon was playing a sick game to separate me from Lukas?
“Prinkipissa please talk to me. Please”
“He lied to you!” I hiccuped in between my sobs, wiping my tears.
“What?”
“Jaxon lied to you so that you can separate me from Lukas. I am not trapped with Lukas. Sure he brought me to Hell, but I love him. I’m in love with him” I sniffed, shaking my head, aware of my nose running down.
Zeus faltered, opening and closing his mouth like a fish out of water.
“I don’t-I had no idea.”
“I’m so sorry...”
I shook my head. Nothing matters now. Why would Jaxon do that? Why did he separate Lukas and me? There was only one way to know.
“I want to know everything about my previous life.”
Zeus folded his lips together, “That can be arranged.”
“How?”
He stood up and marched towards his bookshelves. I held my breath as he retrieved something from the top shelf and handed it to me.
“Read this book. You will know all about your previous life.”
