Chapter 64: Chapter 64
imp announcement at the end
/Lukas POV/
The fog around me was almost nauseating. I couldn't breathe through my nose anymore. My energy was being drained from my body as I was still bound in shackles. A whimper escaped my lips as I tried to move my hand. They were tightly bound. What was Jaxon's plan? Why was he keeping me in the darkest place I had ever seen? My dungeons in hell are far more luxurious than the rat hole I was in.
There was no clock anywhere, so I had no way of knowing the exact time. However, there was a tiny glass window, and from there, I could tell that it has been two days. Two agonisingly slow days. No one came to see me. The sound of rats was the only thing I could hear. I tried to break free several times, but it only resulted in cutting my wrist even deeper.
The air was chilly at night, biting my exposed skin. I trembled all night, feeling no warmth at all. Maybe it was because my blood was draining through the exposed wound that I felt more human. The cold never bothered to me before. As I did not get any frostbite on my exposed toes, so the guards didn't think it was necessary to seal the air vents. What was this place? I often felt at night as the air filtered through it.
My authority didn't work in the room at all. It almost made me weak as I tried to stay up, thinking about my mate and our child. There were two buff guards on the outside just to keep an eye out on me. If I make even a peep, they immediately turn their heads in and inspect my room. In short, life has been hell. I almost snorted at the implication behind it.
Jaxon did not come to see me, which scared me. If he was not visiting me, it meant that he was with Talia. That possibility scared me. I would rather have him torture me than breath near Talia. She did not deserve all this.
As if on cue, the door pushed open, and I stilled, leaning forward to hear the sound of footsteps rushing inside. I stared at the black shiny expensive boots and immediately realised that it was none other than Jaxson himself. What did he want now?
I decided not to make any sound, letting my eyes stare at his feet.
"I'm enjoying this view. You should be on your knees more often" Jaxon chuckled, his voice making my skin prickle. His voice was annoying, shrill and everything I hated.
I met his eyes, "What do you want?"
"Mmh so that stinky attitude is still there. I'm impressed!" Jaxon gleed, a huge grin plastered on his face. I had half a mind to swing my head in his groin. He was close enough, but that was not worth the discomfort it would cause me.
"Fuck off" I weakly slurred, averting my eyes away.
"Who pissed in your breakfast this morning?" Jaxon snorted then as if remembered something he started laughing.
"Oh, never mind."
My stomach growled at the mention of food. Even though I had no appetite, I was hungry from the past two days. But there was no way I will accept something from Jaxon. He would use that opportunity to poison me. Dying from starvation sounded much better.
"Don't worry I won't stay here longer" Jaxon looked around, pressing his lips together and shaking his head distastefully.
"It's not my kind of place, really. The reason I came to see you were to say goodbye. I am going to see my bride. I mean Talia and bring her back with me. Exciting, right?"
At the mention of Talia, I growled, inching forward actually to headbutt him but he swiftly took a step back, cackling loudly. How dare he call her his bride? She's my soulmate. Mine. My soulmate and having our child. No one has any right over her but me. Just thinking about Jaxon putting his filthy hands over her made bile rise in my mouth.
"Not that easy!" Jaxon tsked, shaking his head.
"She'll never be your bride!" I spat at him, meeting his eyes.
Jaxon scoffed, his lips pulled in a smirk. "Who says that? You? A demon who can never escape this place?"
A guttural sound tore my lips at that. Even though he was right, I couldn't believe it. There had to be a way for me to escape the hellhole.
"There's no way for you to escape" Jaxon sweetly said as if he read my exact thoughts. That can't be it! How did he do that? My eyes narrowed at him, but he swiftly moved back, masking his expression.
"Keep rotting here till I come back. Bye" With that, he turned around and exited the room. I slumped my head down, trying not to scream because no one would hear it anyway.

A few hours later, I heard a hissing sound from the corner. My eyes widened in shock. As I felt more human, there was a possibility that a snake bite could kill me. I shifted around, the action only causing the shackles to dig into my skin deeper. My heart was beating loudly in my chest as I held my breath.
The sound grew louder, and finally, a bright light tore into the air. I squinted my eyes at the sudden brightness and blinked them several times.
A tall figure stepped out of the portal, and my mouth fell open. I blinked my eyes several times to make sure if it was a dream. Dean was standing in front of me with his spear, unharmed. How did he survive those shadows? Did he find me on his own? I had so many questions for him.
"Dean" I breathed, my throat clogged up with strange emotion. His loyalty towards me was always something I deeply admired. He never left me behind, and I should have known this situation was no different.
"My lord" He bowed in front of me.
I almost forgot about my kingdom in these two days because thinking about Hell made me even sadder. There were too many enemies after my throne, so I figured that someone might have already taken my seat and made Dean their pet.
He immediately released me of the shackles, his eyes almost red at the bloody marks on my skin. Before I could say anything, he handed me some clothes. My eyes grew wide at that. Where did he get that from?
"How did you find me?" I asked him after I put on the clothes.
Dean gulped, folding his hands together. "I found you yesterday night. The fairies...they helped me track your location."
"Jaxon...he has more security during night time, so I waited before opening the portal here. The guards are not on duty now."
Was he scared that I would be angry at him for not finding me sooner? That was the last thing on my mind. If anything, I was thankful that he saw me atleast.
I hummed, "Thank you, Dean."
He cleared his throat, avoiding meeting my eyes, "Anything for you, my Lord."
"What happened after they took me? Did you defeat them?"
He shook his head, "No, my King. They are too powerful. When they took you, they disappeared. I tried to search for you everywhere in Hell but couldn't find you. I called Leo for help."
"We managed to keep the news of attack under wraps. No one in the Hell suspects anything. We told them that you are with your mate on an impromptu trip. Leo is holding the fort for you so that no one can doubt it."
A sigh of relief escaped my lips at that. Without Hell, I was nothing. Even though I didn't have the most glamorous job in the world, I loved it. I couldn't imagine living without it.
"You both did well" I patted at his back. He tried not to preen but failed.
"And what about Talia? Did the fairies find her?" I shakily asked, hope blooming in my chest. If Dean found me through fairies, they might also have something on Talia. Perhaps a location we should trace and get a hold of her.
His face fell at her mention. He stared at the ground for a few seconds before raising his head, "No, my Lord. They are trying to find her thread, but it's detached from you, so it's difficult."
I swallowed noisily, "Not impossible, though, right ?"
"No. We will try our hardest" Dean asserted, his eyes are determined. That's what I needed. With his help
I can find my mate. He brought her to me before, and he can do it again.
I nodded my head at him and stared at the sky through the glass window, hoping that my mate was fine, holding on and being strong for us. Only for a while and then I will bring her back home.
"I will find you, my Queen. Keep holding on" I breathed.
