Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Apparently, our story was very popular and hot gossip at the moment. It was surprising that others knew about it. I thought that Lukas was going to keep it a secret to protect our child. Yama was a funny guy. He was ancient according to his own words but still loved to keep up with everything. That's why his new attire. After his wife left him he had to make some drastic changes one of them being replacing his entire wardrobe with funky suits.

By the time we sort out the room for his stepbrother, it was time for dinner. At first, we thought Yuri was shy and wouldn't be picky about anything but boy we were in for a surprise. My feet hurt by the time I walked along with him through the entire mention, trying to find a suitable room.

A few hours passed by I realised how huge the place was. There were several wings in one mansion with more than five hundred rooms. It was insane. Most of them are occupied by the demons however the lower floor ones are empty for guests. It made me think about Lukas friends circle. He must know a lot of people to have so many rooms.

Yuri, however, was supernatural so he did not feel any pain while walking through different floors. He was still bouncing with energy after we reached the second floor.

Finally, he settled on the farthest room from the stairs, but it was closer to the common balcony. He was picky about the room because he didn't want to be disturbed. I almost wanted to pull his cheeks at that.

The dinner was served but Yama did not attend because he was tired. I really wanted to talk to him more and learn about all the rumours and gossips going around about me and my unborn child. It was very unsettling to know that people were talking behind your back even without knowing the complete story. But that's what being pregnant with Demon King's child is all about.

Yuri stood up, bowed down, "Thank you for this meal. Good night"

"Good night love. Sleep tight" I waved at him as he scrambled towards the chair as fast as he could. Lauren sighed staring at his retreating form.

"For someone who is four, he sure is a menace"

Dean huffed something under his breath and continued with his soup. Lukas was busy with his steak and did not even pay attention to whatever Lauren was talking about. Everyone was in a mood.

I hummed, "Why do you say that?"

"He asked me to teach him to paint and I thought he would be happy with crayons. But no the boy wanted acrylics. He took one hour to perfect the painting of flower pot" Lauren exhaled, stabbing at her mashed potatoes a little too hard.

I instantly regretted asking her because I thought that she was the only one who was not in the mood. The day, in particular, was draining for everyone with new guests. Even the servants were on feet all day with Yamas demands for dinner. He wanted to eat biryani, the Hyderabadi style so the cooks were slaving all evening to perfect that meal. While Yuri was annoying the rest of them with his whimsical yet polite demands.

"That is awful," I remarked as Lauren was staring at me. The kid was too cute to be angry on.

Lukas hummed softly when Lauren stared at him like he had been listening all along. It felt like he was hiding something and I wanted to know.

Lauren placed her fork in her plate and huffed, "You should see my art room. It's a mess"

I gave her a sympathetic smile and focused on eating the greens on my plate. It was like Lukas had made it a mission to purposely ask the servers to put greens on my plate. Even though he would never admit to doing that it was a cute gesture.

Lukas stood up, followed by others. I held my breath as he walked closer to me.

"You worked very hard today cara. You should get some rest because you like you're about to pass out any second now." I hummed, rubbing my eyes.

He walked along with me to my room in silence. The soft sounds of our footsteps echoed around the quiet hallways. Lukas was too close to me that I could feel the heat of his body. My breath was caught in my throat, fear gripping me. We were never alone in the hallways at night so it made me think about the time he cornered me outside the mansion. This time I was all alone and nowhere to run.

"Sleep well." Lukas softly whispered. My eyes widened, a bit surprised. I nodded my head and walked back to my room.

The next morning as I woke up my stomach was in a twist. It felt like something bad was going to happen. Ignoring that feeling I got up from the bed and slid inside the bathroom. I was sure that Yama was going to be there for breakfast so it would give me an opportunity to talk to him.

It was nothing particular really but I wanted to know how the gossip originated about us. For a second I thought about those fairies but then again they seemed like reclusive. Why would the leak about it to demons of other dimensions?

Locking my room I walked out when I heard the breathing. It was too loud for it to be a human sound. My head turned around only to notice a hellhound. How is that possible? Lukas told me that only dead people can see hellhound.

My gut clenched as I stared at the hellhound, saliva dripping on the floor from the corner of its mouth. The creature in front of me was something I had never imagined. With a large head and almost dog-like the body, it was giant and feral with sharp white teeth poking out.

He was such a pure white stallion. How did he turn into something so ugly and terrifying? An idea popped into my mind. If I could tame the white stallion then maybe I could also try it with the hellhound.

"Down boy...shh" I calmly said trying to step back. The Hellhound growled, breathing fire through its nostrils and pounced on me.

A sharp cry escaped my lips as I landed on my side, my arm immediately going to my stomach. Tears escaped my eyes at the sharp pain shooting through my stomach. The thought of something happening to make child made me twist in fear.

As I tried to get up and move, the hellhound neared me and shook its head. Fang doesn't do this! I thought internally.

My eyes screwed shut, mentally praying that it would be all over soon. As Fang let out a long, terrifying howl my teeth grind together. I thought about everything that happened which lead me to the very moment I was experiencing. Even though I was angry at Lukas for several things I did not regret the night we spent together. Not at all.

A low whine made me open my eyes. I blinked back the tears when I noticed that Fang was lying on the ground. He tried to attack Lukas but he was wrestled easily by the Demon King, pinned on the ground.

I felt pain shoot through my stomach as I tried to stand up on my feet. With the help of the pillar, I managed to slide against it, clutching my arm against my belly. A sob racked through my body when I noticed crimson liquid on my palm. I needed help.

"Fang!" Lukas growled as he ducked another attack of his Hellhound. He managed to finally overpower him. I let out a shuddering breath as I noticed the red colour in Lukas's eyes. They were glowing.

"Lu-" I tried to call out his name, my vision getting blurry as I tried to hold on.

"Down! Now!" Lukas growled which made Fang whimper and hide in the corner. My breathing turned erratic as I tried to keep my eyes open.

"Lukas-" I exhaled, my body lurching forward.

"Talia" He breathed, wrapping his arm around my waist. His eyes widened when he noticed blood in my hands. He pulled me into his bare chest and I was trying to look into his eyes. Fang was quiet, making no sound at all.

"Please look at me-" He whispered, patting at my cheeks. I hummed, trying to look at him as he let me collapse into his arms. He felt warm.

"Am I going to die?"

He sniffled, his voice hoarse, "Nothing is going to happen to you...I cannot lose you...Talia"

I hazily blinked at him as I noticed tears pooling in his eyes. Was he crying for me?

"I don't want to lose you again Talia please..."

"Save...save our baby" I whispered before darkness consumed me and I closed my eyes.
