Chapter 65: Chapter 65

Lucas POV

I walk out of the house and jump into my Audi. She refuses to see me again. “Fuck!” I yell as I bang my hands against the steering wheel. I just finished telling her I can’t fucking live without her and she’s the best thing that's ever happened to me. Yet she still dismisses me like I'm nothing to her. We just lost our baby, the baby I was secretly rejoicing in. We were going to be a family damn it, a fucking family. She was going to bear my name and my children, my life was going to be complete and fucking incredible. I was planning on spending the rest of my life making her the happiest lady to ever grace the planet. But that was viciously torn from me. The mob had gotten a hold of Mikal and paid him a pretty penny to turn my world upside down. That fucker is lucky he’s already dead because if I had gotten my hands on him he would’ve died a long and slow death. Even that was generous on my behalf. The mob will pay, the person who ordered the hit will pay. They only halfway succeeded their mission on their end, but they whole handily succeeded in fucking up mine!

I need to get back to Italy, Rosa and I need to go back to Gio and make a plan. I will make it my life’s mission to keep Nessa safe, even though she no longer yearns to be with me. I will pack up my life here in New Zealand and leave.  I take one good look at the house and peel out of the street with my tires screeching along the road. It's time to get things moving and heads rolling.

“Call Gio,” I say firmly, commanding my Bluetooth to life.

“Calling Gio”  It replies while dialling his number.

“Luca?” Gio answers in a clipped tone.

“I’m leaving tonight with Rosa,” I tell him

“What about Nessa, You bringing her back too?”

“No, She doesn’t want me anymore.” A low chuckle comes through the speaker.

“And?” He says clearly amused in my fucked up situation.

“She thinks she’s pushed me away. The only thing she’s done is driven me to the edge. We need to finish this now.” I growl.

“Make sure you have people watching her at all times Luca.” He sobers from my misery.

“I will.”

“ I mean it Luca, don’t let your desire for her override your judgement. You can’t afford to fuck this up. We only have one shot “ He scolds me.

“We only need one shot Gio. Just have Ace waiting for us at the landing pad.”

“Okay brother. I’ll see you soon.” I hang up and drive towards my penthouse.

I walk through the door and Rosa’s sitting on the sofa with her sketch pad and headphones on.

I walk over slowly doing my best not to frighten her and gently pull out one of her earplugs.

Her head snaps up, and when her eyes reach mine the fear diminishes from her beautiful face.

“Uncle?” she recovers and takes the other earplug out. Is everything okay? You look like crap.”

I look better than how I feel. I think to myself.

“Time to pack Rosa. We leave in an hour.” I turn and make my way to my room.

“What?” I hear her scrambling off the sofa. “Uncle Luca, wait.” She demands

I stop and turn to face her. I know how hard this will be for her to leave. To leave New Zealand when she just started to feel herself again, and how hard it will be for her to leave Vanessa behind. Especially since they’ve gotten quite close. I itch to put her nerves at ease and tell her it won’t be forever, but something tells me she will only relate that back to Nessa. And for this plan to work, I need her to believe that she has truly lost me when we fake our deaths. For when I come back to claim her there won’t be any hesitation on her end.

“It's time to put our plan into action.” I comb my finger through my hair with frustration.

My body is tense and I’m fucking tired.

“Okay.” She barely whispers with a frown on her face.  She doesn't understand what our plan is.

“What about Aunt Nessa?” A worried look washes over her face.

“I'll make sure she’s safe.”

“Like the last time we left?” She grounds out.

Her words hurt, It would’ve been less painful if she had just shot me.

“Watch who you’re talking to.” My hands curl into fists at my side.

“She’s still vulnerable, We can’t leave her when she needs us the most.”

“She doesn’t want me, Rosa, I’ve just come back from seeing her and she told me to leave.”

“She’s hurting, she just lost her baby and..”

“OUR baby, has everyone forgot that I lost a baby too?” I cut her off.

“I didn't mean it like that uncle. It is different for her, she was meant to be the safe vessel that your baby grew in until he was ready to come into the world.” Tears prick her eyes and she walks up to me, wrapping her arms around my waist. “  I’m not ready to leave her or Mama just yet. Please.” A soft sob leaves her.

“One hour Rosa.” I pry her arms from me and walk to my room.

I close the door and walk straight to my bathroom and close that door. I stand in front of the mirror and stare at myself for a heartbeat. You will make them pay Luca!  I turn on the cold water and dip my head washing my face with my hands. I welcome the coldness as it washes over my heated face, turning the tap off, I pat dry my face with a cloth.

“Leave, leave, leave...” I can’t get the fucking words out of my head.

The image of her breaking before penetrates my heart like a scolding hot dagger.

“God damn it, Vanessa!” I roar as I put my hand through the mirror.

With a loud crash, it shatters before me and goes flying across the floor.

I look down and Droplets of blood begin to paint the porcelain white basin. I open one of the cabinet drawers and pull out a bandage.

“Uncle, what have you done?” Rosa comes crashing through the door and with her eyes full of fear.

Taking in the scene around me she carefully walks over to me and takes the bandage from my shaking hands. Being careful not to startle me too much.

“She did it,” I mumble

“Who did it?” Rosa takes hold of my hand and slowly starts to wrap it.

“Vanessa, she finally made me lose control.” I start to laugh.

My beautiful, Impulsive Vanessa finally got the better of me and drove me to lose control for a split second...

“ You wait, my love,  I will come back to claim you one last time my little firecracker. “ I think to myself with a sly smile forming on my face.
