Chapter 16: Chapter 16

Olivia's pov:

I heard the alarm going berserk with its annoying ring! It was 4 am and everyone had to be present at the lobby in a half hours' time to leave for the airport. Waking up so early caused my head to have a splitting headache!

I rolled off of bed, forcing my weak body and tear stained face to the bathroom to freshen myself up. I was not that excited for Australia after everything that happened the previous day.

If it were under normal and happy circumstances, I would have rushed to the lobby to wait for the bus to arrive and take me to the airport. Travelling was something I loved but at that moment, nothing seemed interesting to do.

I just wanted to lay in bed all day, but I knew that I had to go as staying alone would have driven me crazy with this sorrow and pain.

As I got out of the shower, I heard my phone ring across the hotel room. I quickly put on a robe and ran to my phone wondering if something else happened. I was not prepared for some more tragedies to occur in my life!

I saw the caller id and realized that Inspector Gaikwad was giving me a call. I pressed the answer button and held the phone tightly to my ears and braced myself for anymore bad news. I wondered if my heart could handle it after being through a lot.

"Hey Olivia, how's everything going? Are you.... doing ok?" he asked out of concern.

I wanted to say that I was doing terribly but I instead replied with a simple "fine"! I always was the type of person to hide any sort of problem or sorrow that occurred in my life. I do not even know why but I could not make myself open up too much to people, sometimes even my family.

"Well, I guess since you can't come here due to unavailability of flights, so I think the Australia vacation can help you relax and take your mind of these things." he suggested from the other line.

I nodded, not saying anything as I had too much on my mind. I could not even attend my own family's funeral while their murderer is still at loose. We did not even know who he/she was! It was so frustrating to say the least!

"Well, I wanted to tell you something very important about the unfortunate incident about your family! It is something very vital for the case!"

After hearing this sentence come out from the other line, I became very alert and told him to speak up. Anything related to my family needed my utmost attention! I was super impatient to know what he had found.

"After investigating the crime scene, I unfortunately was not able to locate any fingerprints in any part of the house! Even commonly touched surfaces had none of his fingerprints. However, I was able to retrieve one thing from the scene!" he stated with a louder voice.

I became super attentive at this point! I would do anything to find my family's murderer and give them the punishment they deserve!

"What? What is it? Tell me!" I asked hastily.

"Take a look at your messages." I heard him tell me.

At that very moment, I heard my phone beep. I had been sent a photo by the Inspector.

I scrolled through my messages while keeping the call on speaker. After opening up the Inspector's chat, I saw this.......an image of a diamond ring that was sitting in a pool of blood.

The image traumatized me as I thought of my family upon seeing the bloody scene. My heart ached!

I immediately put my phone back on my ear to hear more from him about the ring. I could feel my heart skip a beat.

"We found this ring near the entrance of your house. It must have fallen from someone. Do you think it belongs to anyone in your family?" he interrogated me in a calm and collective manner.

I quickly took a closer look at the photo. I was trying to recall my family's jewellery and realized that no one in my family ever owned such a ring. It definitely was not theirs!

I was breathing heavily when I told the Inspector that this ring did not belong to anyone in my family.

"Well, then it could quite possibly be the murderer's ring. But we are not sure, so we are investigating it closely, so you do not need to worry about it for now! We will catch this person!" Inspector said and assured before hanging up as I sighed.

I wanted this person thrown in jail for taking away my entire family. He could not get away with committing such a disgusting crime.

I slipped on a grey T-shirt with some black jeans. I did not feel like wearing anything too great today even though I was usually the one who dressed up a bit extra for a trip to the airport.

I took my suitcase and proceeded to leave the room. My hatred for that murderer gave me some strength to leave my room and go down to the lobby where everyone had gathered.

On the way towards the lobby, I was met by Nikita! She was dressed in a pink turtleneck with a pair of white jeans. She had good fashion sense, I guess.

Nikita's pov:

I stood in the lobby fully glammed like I always am. I knew many people were admiring my look even though they were not making it obvious by not staring at me. I looked damn hot today, so I knew for a fact that everyone was drooling all over my pretty face.

While I was stroking my blonde hair, standing with style, I heard a very familiar soft voice in my ears.

"Good morning Nikita!" I heard someone greet me from behind!

I turned back hesitantly as I knew who it could be. And to my annoyance it was that brat, Olivia!

I felt like hitting my head against a brick wall! I always remember that video of me drunk at the party whenever I see her face.

My entire comment section was filled with comments mocking me for it. Her actions damaged the reputation I worked so hard to build so I could never forgive her for it.

In order to hide my immense hatred in front of Olivia, I pulled myself together and put on a fake smile like I always do in front of her. I needed to be in her good books as you know what they say.... keep your friends close but your enemies closer!

"Good morning! I hope you are doing better today after what happened to you yesterday! It was so heartbreaking to hear what you had to go through" I faked my concern for her.

I, in fact was happy and a little giggly to hear that all those things happened to her. I guess karma really is a b*tch. Olivia really deserved every bit of what happened to her. I almost started smiling but I quickly hid it.

"Nikita, I don't feel 100% great whatsoever but I guess spending time relaxing in Australia might help. Thanks for being here for me! You are a great friend Nikita."

Hearing her compliments, made me laugh! I was actually quite proud of myself for faking stuff. I guess it was a natural born talent that never knew I had. I tried to hide my laugh that I wanted to let out so bad!

"Olivia, this vacation is not going be so great for you! I am not done with you at all!" I thought to myself while staring at her while she was looking at her phone.

I was going to make her life hell one way or the other!
