Chapter 20: Chapter 20

XX

I wake up to the sound of a beeping noise. Thinking it will go away, I ignore it and snuggle closer to the warm thing laying beside me. The beeping stops after a few moments and I sigh in comfort.

Everything is so soft and fluffy except the thing, but I'm holding on to it anyway. The beeping begins again, as soon as I slip back in my dreams and I groan.

But then, the thing moves.

I jump in surprise and fall off the bed, pulling the covers with me. I groan again, rubbing my bum on which I landed, trying to soften the pain when a head looks down at me from the bed.

"Axel." I say, finally figuring out that "the thing" has been him.

His brows are furrowed and his hair is a mess on top of his head.

"What the fuck are you doing?" he asks with deep raspy morning voice and squint eyes.

I blush, grabbing the covers around me into my arms. "I-uh fell off the bed." I say and he continues to stare at me.

"Why?"he questions.

"Because I forgot you were here and you scared me when you moved."

With that, the beeping begins again and we both groan together.

Axel moves to switch it off and plops down on the bed as I climb back on.

Awkwardly I lay down next to him, but not touching him because I don't know how far I should go. Yeah, we had been cuddling the entire night, but we were awake now and it was different.

"You wanna spend the day with me?" Axel asks and turns on his side to look at me and pulls the covers over our bodies.

The room is quite dark, since the sun isn't completely out yet. I lay there, fiddling my fingers.

Of course I want to spend a day with him, but the thought of what happened the last time makes me reconsider my wishes.

"We don't have to go outside if you don't want to. We can just stay in the whole day." he says when he sees me struggling.

I look up to him and sigh. "You wanna 'hang out', right?"

He smiles, his dimples showing and he snuggles closer to me. "You're so cute." he says with a smile and I roll my eyes.

"I'm not wearing any makeup and my hair probably looks like a nest. It's the same look the trolls have." I say and he shrugs.

"Well then I guess you're a cute troll." he says and I laugh, closing my eyes and throwing my head back.

"You're an ass. I bet that's what you say to all the girls." I say with a smile and he comes closer and climbs on me, his legs on each side of my body.

He leans on his elbows above my head and looks at me seriously. "Does it work?"

I bite my lip and nod. "Unfortunatelly, yes." I reply and he grins. "I knew it. Its the first part of my trick to getting women." he says and I raise my brow.

"Really? What's the second trick?" I ask and he smirks as he waves his fingers in front of my face.

"These." he explains and I blush, covering my face with my hands. "You're a pervert." I say, chuckling.

"Never said I wasn't." he replies and removes my hands off of my face.

He looks me in the eyes, that intense look which says I want you and the places a soft kiss on my lips.

He holds them like that for a moment before prying my mouth open with his lips by nibbling on my bottom lip.

And then he really kisses me the way he knows how. The way which lifts me to heaven.

I bury my hands into his hair and he grabs my waist tightly. I bite his lip and he groans and pulls away, resting his forehead on mine.

"You are an amazing woman." he says and I bite my lip, wanting to saviour the taste of his lips.

"Come, lets get ready." he says and gets up, pulling me with him.

I let out a squeal and he chuckles.

He holds me close to him and now that there are no covers on us and he's only wearing his boxers and I'm only wearing his shirt and my panties, only now I really begin to realize that last night was real.

"Oh! I gotta text Theo!" I suddenly say, pulling away from Axel and begin searching for my phone.

"Why'd you need to text him for?" Axel spits out words like they were venom, putting emphasis on him. I turn to look at him and there's a huge frown on his face.

"To tell him that I'm not going out with him?" I say with a raised brow and his face stays the same.

"I don't want you around him, Soph." Axel says as I continue my search.

"He's a great guy, Axel. And it's not like you're my boyfriend. You can't tell me I can't hang out with him." I say and he stays silent. After a few more moments of digging through my things and intense silence, I finally find my phone and let out a quiet voice of triumph.

I look around at Axel to find him with pursed lips and looking up at the ceiling.

Wait.

Is he going to ask me-?

My heart stops beating for a moment, before he finally speaks up again.

"No, I'm not your boyfriend, Sophie. But that doesn't mean I want you to hang out with him. You're gonna keep throwing this shit in my face?" he says and my shoulders slightly fall and so does my face.

It was stupid of me to get excited, really. But I couldn't seem to help it.

This is probably all just a fun way of passing time for him, it's not like he'd ever really think of actual commitment with me. I'm probably not good enough for him.

I let out a sigh and just shake my head in responce, forcefully pushing back the tears and I start typing in a message to Theo.

*Sorry, Theo, but something came up and I can't go out today.*

"You don't have to apologize." Axel says behind my back and I roll my eyes and sigh, pressing SEND, ignoring him. »Do you want me to come with you or not?« I ask, exaparated and he purses his lips. »Okay, fuck. I'll stop being a dick. Just come with me today, please.«

I only smile in return and start getting ready, ignoring the small voice in my head telling me I'm gonna regret this decision.

I'm in so deep now, I might as well go a bit deeper into this mess.

We quickly get dressed and he says: "I'll be waiting behind the house." I nod and exit the room.

I need to ask him how he gets up to my room. Probably through the tree which was placed right next to my window."Dad, mum, I'm going to a friend!" I scream when I walk through the living room and out the door.

I hear a faint "okay" in the distance before I close the door and make my way to the back.

Axel is leaning against the fence in the back of our house, smoking.

I slightly, barely noticeably frown at the sight. He smokes?

"Ready, beauty?" Axel asks and puts out the cigarette, holding his hand out for me.

I take his hand. "Of course, Beast." I say and see a hint of amusement in his eyes.

"Beast, huh?" he asks and I shrug.

"Be happy it's not Shrek."
