Chapter 45: Chapter 45
Ingrid's POV
"The naughty girl is excited again," I laughed when I saw Raya who was restless because we are now going to another planting field. Those parts of their org are already there so she is hurrying us.
When we got there, she immediately ran when she saw her friends. I would have followed her when Indigo touched my wrist.
"Your shoelace," he said, tying it himself. He immediately chased after Raya when he was done.
"Good morning, Ma'am," Viva, the org handler, greeted me.
"That's why your standard is so high, Sir really raised it," she said with a smile. She seemed to have seen Indigo tying my shoelace earlier. I immediately felt ashamed because of that. I just smiled because I also didn't know what to say.
I approached them, I saw that Raya was introducing her father to people in the org, even to her friends. Indigo's smile was just wide. He looks so happy right now. I couldn’t help feeling sad because I had deprived them of that happiness for years.
Indigo noticed me staring at him so he immediately raised an eyebrow at me. I can still see his grin so I roll my eyes at him. He really looks crazy.
Later on, our tree planting activities also started. They were all having fun too. Aside from you resting and lessening your anxiety because of nature, you will definitely have more friends. Almost everyone here will get to know each other. And most importantly, everyone is helping the earth.
"Ma'am, you should go with Raya and Sir, I'll take a picture of you," Viva said. I turned to Raya and Indigo.
I couldn't help but smile as I watched my father and daughter tandem. Raya just teaches him while Indigo looks willing to learn.
Sometimes, he automatically has his phone when Raya is with him because there are some questions that we can't answer that Raya asks. I don't even know where she gets those.
"Sir, picture!" they said so Indigo immediately agreed.
We enjoyed the rest of the morning planting trees. Despite the heatness of the sun, the smile on our daughter's face was still wide. I couldn't help but smile before touching her hair.
“Are you enjoying it?” I asked her. She nodded one after another. She even hugged Indigo and me there.
"Thank you, Nanay, Tatay!" she said with a wide smile. We just smiled and messed up her hair.
When we got back home, my smile immediately curved when I saw Chora and Indigo's friends, they were really serious about what they said.
"Hi, Girl!" Chora shouted loudly and even hugged me. I'm embarrassed to stay close to her because I was out earlier.
“Seriously, I want to pull your hair you know that? You didn't even invite me and made me a godmother! You didn't tell you to like to hide your child, I'm willing to help,” she said so I couldn't help but laugh.
“Is that your baby girl? Omg! She's so pretty! She looks like her godmother!” she said when she saw Raya. She's talking about herself.
"Self-proclaim!" Indigo said so Cho just glared at him.
“You are just stupid, you idiot. If you didn't break up, I'm probably her godmother now. Bad trip to you. ” Indigo and her just fight while Chora's husband just laughed.
Even Carver is already talking to Raya. My daughter is not really shy. In fact, she was even the first one to make a topic so I couldn't help but smile.
“How was the trip po? Isn't it nice here?” she said, smiling at them. We also told her that her father's friends were coming.
“Omg, she's so cute! It's good that you don't look like your father,” Bren said, laughing. He was with Andra. Only then did I find out that they were together.
"I heard that you like plants, I brought you three," Atlas said, who was carrying plants. Chora and her get back together.
"Really po? Wow!” Her attention immediately turned to Atlas.
“It's really different when you're rich! ” Carver's complaint. They laughed when Atlas secretly cursed at him.
Indigo is really lucky with his friends. Since high school, he has been friends with them. That's rare.
I couldn't help but think of my old friends. Well, I saw Steffanie when there was a contest and some of my students won regionally. Somehow she has matured. She also apologized to me somehow. I found out that she and Jayvee are now dating. I'm genuinely happy for them.
"Is this your son?" I asked Chora. He introduced her son to me. Si Mau.
“Hi, Mau,” I greeted him. He looks shy but you'll be amazed by a lot of stories he tells when you talk to him. I seem to know where he inherits that.
"Hi, Sandro!" they greeted Sandro and Irah who were already preparing food for them. My siblings also knew that they would come. Neighbors are already gossiping because there are visitors here.
“But seriously though. I was really scared for Indigo in the past. He didn't even smile at all! I thought I would run out of money. Every day Indigo wants to drink. He'll get wasted to escape paying the bill,” his friends complained. I looked at Indigo who just glared at them.
"He wants to court you again but he realizes that you have a boyfriend," Andra said. So he was really serious at that time. I thought he was just really trying to ask. And it's just his trip.
They also agreed to take a tour here in Nueva Ecija so we immediately visited places here.
The next day, we headed to Minalungao National Park.
"Wow!" They were all amazed as they stared at it. I can't help but smile and be proud of the place. This place really looks pretty so Raya and I often go here.
"I hope all," Indigo said when he saw Atlas and Chora go down immediately and sprinkle water to each other.
"Because you're slow!" they laughed at him.
"Silly, no matter how long it takes, it's fine and it's worth the wait if it's Ingrid," he said with a wide grin when he looked back at me. I couldn't stop myself from biting my lips to stop myself from smiling.
“How flirty!” they shouted so Indigo just laughed while carrying Raya. We also dived into the river while the child played.
"Indigo, Ingrid, look here," Chora said so we looked at the camera. I just smiled there and Indigo put his hand on Raya and my shoulder.
"Send it to me," Indigo said.
After that day I just saw him change his background photo. He flex his daughter several times on his social media accounts and they often think that she was just her niece but people were shocked by his caption.
'My source of happiness. Fam. '
I can't stop the smile from my lips. They're also my source of happiness.
"I want to genuinely say congratulations to you, Ingrid," Chora said at night and the others were asleep. They are already drunk.
"I don't really know your struggle but I know that you're really brave to face the world and face the new world ahead with Raya," she told me.
“I always tell Indigo to forget about you because he's hurting every time your name is mentioned. He's stupid even if he was already hurting, he still want to mess with himself. The coping mechanism of that is to joke about the two of you but when no one is around? He's just there, staring at one side with the alcohol beside him,” Chora said.
“Then when there are projects he can't get? He will always think that he really wastes you. And when there are projects that he gets, he'll always think that you should be there to celebrate every single one with him,” she said.
“I told him to stop. You're happy with your life not knowing that you're hurting too. Sorry about that."
“But now, you both deserve to be happy. I'm rooting for your happiness,” she said, still smiling at me.
"Thank you, Chora, for being there when I wasn't there for Indigo," I told her.
"It's nothing, we're all friends," she laughed.
When Chora and I finished talking, I couldn't help but think of Indigo. It's not easy for him either.
"Seriously, Ingrid looks very professional and then someone with her looks stupid," Carver said to Indigo as we said goodbye to them. It's their last day here in Nueva Ecija, I just can't go with them because I still have a class.
"I'm really sorry," I said to Andra.
“Stupid, it's nothing! You also have a job. These people are the only problem here,” she laughed.
"Hey, don't be mean, she's a teacher," Bren said so I just laughed. They are really lively. You'll think that they were high school students because of their noise but I'm glad that they also actually visited here in Nueva Ecija. I was able to relax from the stress at school.
Usually, when you are in uniform, you really look like a professional.
"Bye, Ma'am," they said goodbye.
"Thank you again, huh?" I said with a smile.
"We should be the ones who should thank you, Girl. You accepted us here even if it's so sudden," they laughed.
“In your next baby, you already know, huh? I'll be a godmother!” Chora said so her friends pulled her away.
"We too," they said so I couldn't help but feel embarrassed. I just laughed softly because of that.
I just smiled while on our way to school. Having a bunch of people in our house is kinda refreshing.
"Love, I'll pick you up later, okay?" he reminded me. I nodded. Raya doesn't have class today so we're not with her.
After lunch, Indigo immediately visited me with food.
"Thank you," I said.
"I hope all," Gracia said who passed by my side. After lunch, his friends left so he just brought me lunch.
I've been busy all day. I was about to leave the faculty when a co-teacher called me.
"Ma'am, how did you do this?" Sir Vince asked me. I approached him and pointed out what I knew from his presentation.
"Yown, thank you, Ma'am," he said with a smile.
"It's nothing. I'm going first," I said, smiling at him as well.
"Yown, one point for Sir Vince," those inside the faculty tease. I just shake my head there. They know there's already an Indigo now. The only thing we really lack is the label.
I stopped when I saw Indigo standing in front of the door. I could immediately see his eyebrows raise when he looked at me. It looks like he even heard the teasing inside. His forehead was already furrowed, and his gaze went even further towards Sir Vince.
"Hi, have you been here earlier?" I asked him.
“Hmm, nah, I just arrived. Let's go?" he asked slightly frowning and holding back the sarcasm.
"It's really hard to be jealous when you're just a suitor," he laughed before pouting. I thought he would be as sarcastic as when we were still together so I smiled when I saw he was just really holding back.
