Chapter 31: Chapter 31
Ingrid's POV
"Love! Mr. Torre emailed me. He wants me to be part of his team. Do you think I should intern with him?” he asked me. Mr. Torre is one of those famous producers in the industry, and entering his team is a great honor.
“Of course! You should!" I said with a wide smile on my face. I always want the best for him. He also smiled at me because of that.
"Where're my congrats?" he asked.
"Silly, you just got your congrats earlier, ah!" I complained to him. What happened that night didn't just happen once; it always happened when he won a lot of things. It was followed several times due to Indigo's successive achievements. He always gets what he wants whenever he's asking where his congrats and rewards were. Stupid, you're also like it, Ingrid. Don't clean after yourself. You want that too.
“Hey, what are you thinking? I'm just asking for congratulations,” he said while laughing.
"I don't believe it's just congrats," I laughed at him.
"Stay away. Sandro is there," I said, pushing him away.
"You're just really sweet at night," he said so I pinched his side. He laughed and walked away from me. I just shake my head there and I didn't lose the smile on my lips. He really deserves whatever he enjoys now. There are a lot of people who want to hire him as their employee in case he has already graduated. He will have a job immediately. I'm genuinely happy for him. Really.
Someone knew him at school. They knew his name very well. It's just that they don't know his face.
"Alas, they are not aware that the producer is handsome," he said proudly, so I couldn't help but laugh.
"You're really thick-faced," I said.
"Am I not?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Your face is fine," I replied so he laughed.
"You're head over heels for me, remember?" he said, so I couldn't help but roll my eyes at him.
"By the way, I already chose a company where I can intern," he told me.
"Where?" I will ask.
"Media star," he said so my eyes widened.
“Wow! You are really big, Mr. Producer!” I laughed at him.
"It's just me, Ingrid," he said proudly so I just shake my head at him.
"You are saying so much, let's go," I said before walking to the street food store. For some unknown reason, my stomach seemed to be turning upside down just because of Aling Loisa's goods.
"What's wrong?" he asked me. I just shook my head.
"It looks like their store smells different now," I whispered to him.
“Huh? Is it fragrant? Nothing seems to have changed?” he asked so I just nodded and shrug my shoulder.
We just bought some food to take out so that we could eat with my siblings. I just stayed away from the smoke and I was also annoyed with the students by the noise. And there is someone who even pushes people so they can buy food. As if it will run out. I just frowned until we get in the jeep.
“Why do you look like you're having a bad day? Are you having another dumbbell in your group?” he asked while fixing my hair.
“No, those students were just annoying earlier. They keep on pushing,” I complained so he just laughed as he put the jacket he was carrying on my legs.
"It's really like that. You know, sometimes Aling Loisa runs out some stock." He laughed.
"Are you on their side?" I don’t know why my head suddenly heats up just because of what he said.
“It's not like that. Let's just understand them. You know what maybe they are just really hungry like they haven't eaten all day. Like that,” he explained nicely but my brain only came to one conclusion. He sided with those students.
"Are you mad?" he asked me.
"Omg, Big Bro, she's mad at you. You'll have a lover's quarrel." a woman laughed while gossiping during our conversation. I just raised an eyebrow at her so she immediately averted her eyes and even pretended to zipper her mouth.
When we got home, Indigo was just scratching his head. I also can't stand him because of his corny jokes.
"Isaw, Big Sister?" Sandro asked excitedly when he greeted us. I smiled and nodded.
“Wow! There's a lot!” he said excitedly and took it to put on the plate. I just shook my head and laughed a little at him. We soon started eating again. Before I could finally eat, I felt my stomach turn upside down. I didn't feel good right away when I saw it. I saw how they looked at me.
"I just ate something this afternoon," I said.
"Don't eat this then, it might get worse," said Indigo so I just nodded. For some unknown reason, I also suddenly don't want it, even though that was what I always looked forward to when we go home.
For no apparent reason, I vomited more often in the morning. It was as if my stomach was turning every day.
“Are you really okay, Big Sister? You should go to the doctor,” Irah said, who often notices the sudden change in my mood and the vomiting every morning.
"It's just because of hunger." I laughed. I also don't want to think that I might be sick or something.
"Big Brother Indigo won't take you to school today?" she asked me.
"Your older brother is busy, he just sleeps earlier at 3," I said. He is often awake at midnight so he sleeps very soundly every morning. Since he stepped on the media star, he is the one who always does some work. I don't wake him up anymore because he works at noon for his internship too. I just don't want him to be disturbed, especially since I can go to my internship alone.
When I'm in the middle of work, he always calls or texts.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" he complained when I answered his call. I smiled because he seemed to be awake just now. He often puts an alarm whenever I'm going to school but I also just turn it off because I don't want him to lack rest just to deliver me.
“Hmm, you're sleeping soundly. One more thing, I can do it on my own,” I said.
"You should eat your food now. The food is already on the table," I said.
"I cooked you dried fish and eggs," I said. I laughed when I heard his 'yes'. It was one of his favorites dishes.
"I'll hang up now, you should organize yourself. You still have a lot of things to do," I reminded him.
"Yes, Ma'am," he said so I laughed.
"I'll pick you up after class!" he said. I was about to stop him but it looks like his decision is final.
"I love you," he added.
"I love you," I said before the call finally ended.
That's almost exactly what happened to us the next day. He often sleeps soundly every morning because his work piles up in media star and every afternoon he picks me up when he has break time. He also returns to work at night.
"Love! I think I won't be able to go to you right now,” he said when I called.
"Why?" I asked even though it was obvious that he immediately looked like he was being instructed by the big bosses again. I don't know if it's because he's good that he's being ordered around, they want to torture him or they want to sharpen him. I don’t really know either.
"There's a lot of work again as usual," he said. I knew that immediately because when he came to the apartment to sleep in the bedroom, he often really had a lot of work to do.
"Hmm, it's okay, you should also take a rest, okay?" I said.
“I can't wait to go home. I want a hug from you. I'm really tired today,” he told me. I can't stop the curve of a smile from my lips because of that.
“Hmm, see you later. You should eat, I love you,” I said before ending our call.
Instead of going home. I just bought a snack for a while and since the media star is around. I ride a jeepney to visit Indigo. He always makes an effort for me. This is just a simple food delivery especially since I don't have so much thing to do today other than my part-time with Aling Gloria.
I still go to the convenience store, he often picks me up there after his internship. He also resigned because of his part-time job. He has so much work to do and can't really afford to do all of that anymore.
I called Indigo when I got in front of the media star, his lively voice immediately came out.
"You miss me right away?" Even though I couldn't see him, I knew immediately that there was a silly grin on his lips.
"Come out for a moment, I'm here in front of a media star," I said so an intense silence enveloped us. He spoke after that.
"Is it true? You're not joking around? I'm expecting it! I miss you,” he said so I laughed.
“It’s true. I am here,” I said. In less than a second, he was out. Still panting as he looked around. I smiled when I saw him.
“Hi,” I said.
"It's true," he said as he approached me.
"Shit, you really have a crush on me," he said so I laughed. He even hugged me so I laughed and flicked his forehead.
“I’ll just drop your food. You are the one who likes to go hungry just to finish his work,” I said, handing him the snacks I bought for him. He couldn't believe it as he looked at me. I laughed at him because of that.
"Thank you," he said with a wide smile. He would even kiss me on the cheek if only someone hadn’t called him.
"Indigo, you still have things to finish inside," a soft voice said. When I looked back at it, I was immediately shocked to see that it was Dad's mistress. It still looks young because all I know is that we were only a few years apart.
Did I think she already left? It seems like she's using her father's power again. The supervisor her in a media star. I know she's a producer, I just didn't know that she's still here because they also sold the place they lived in before. She also left Papa.
Even if I don’t like it, I still can’t avoid trying to have news with them.
For some unknown reason, I was immediately disgusted with her face because she was the reason why the house was sold. Because she just left her child easily. They are exactly the same. She and Papa.
“That's Ms. Tina, Ingrid, one of my bosses I'm talking about,” Indigo whispered to me so my forehead furrowed even more.
"Ah," I said, nodding to him.
"It's already time. I still need your help for the new scene," she said to Indigo with a smile.
“Just a minite, Ms. Tina. I'll surely go after a while,” Indigo told her. Tina turned to me. My eyebrows rose spontaneously when I looked at her. Her eyebrow raised while looking at me too. She knows me. I knew she remember her ex-husband's child who often knelt in front of their gate to ask for her brother's milk, to see Papa, and to ask for scanty attention.
"Oh, you're here," she said to me.
"You know each other?" Indigo asked. I didn't speak so Tina answered.
"I know her, she's the daughter of my ex-husband," she said.
"You're still the same, still the same girl who likes attention," she whispered, making it sound like she's still pitying me.
