Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Ingrid's POV

"What's this for?" I asked frowning at Indigo as he handed me some vcds when he got inside.

“Old films from my grandfather's trunk. I'll lend it to you,” he said with a smile. Well, I'll be glad to take it. There are a lot of good old films that are no longer seen today. I also don't watch on the internet so I often just borrow a vcd for our dvd player at home.

"Is it for free?" I asked with narrowed eyes as well. He laughed because of that.

"Why do you always think there is a substitute for everything?" he laughed questioning me with his eyes still narrowing. I shrugged my shoulders because of that.

"No payment. Just give it back or I'll be waiting for you,” he joked that I just stared at him. I looked at the vcds.

"Have you watched all this?" I ask. There are those familiar to me. I’ve watched the others here.

"Yup, I highly recommend this," he said, pointing to a vcd.

"Oh, I already watched that and I was left hanging at the ending," I said.

"There seems to be something missing," I said with a smirk.

"I think we have different opinions on this one," he said. I explained why it was lacking for me, he listened to me and I did the same when he explained too. We have a different perspective on the movie and it’s kinda entertaining to hear his thoughts.

"Looks like you two are getting along, huh?" I looked at Aling Gloria when she entered.

"Oh, did you leave something behind, Aling Gloria?" I asked her.

“No, Hija, I'll just give it to you. Take this home for your siblings. ” She handed me the carbonara that looked like she had just cooked. I was thankful for her. She took care of us in her own way. I can't help but smile when I said my regards.

"And we were like that when we were young," she told us while smiling from ears to ears. I can't help but feel ashamed because she teased us.

She just laughed before she left Indigo and me here. When there are no customers, we just talk. I was comfortable with him so I didn't feel anxious while talking with him.

"There's a movie festival next Sunday, want to come with me?" he asked me. I stopped because of that. I wanted to come along but I don't want to regret that I didn't work. What a waste of money that I will earn that day.

"I don't think I can."

"I'll be the one who will treat you, you don't have to spend even a cent," he told me.

"Still, I can't," I said. I just smiled at him bitterly.

“Why? Do you have a boyfriend?" he asked so I frowned at him but I slowly laughed because of his sudden question.

"If I can't, does that mean that I already have a boyfriend?" I laughed while questioning him.

"Maybe you just really want to us about that, huh?" I said, still smiling at him. He laughed and shrugged.

"But why not?" he asked.

"I'm busy," I said.

"Isn't rest a trend for you?" he asked curiously.

"You know, sometimes, you don't have to strain yourself until you get to the point where you're so tired," he told me. Soon he began to tell stories.

“I only heard it when I went to mass. There are two people cutting down trees, the other one is continuous while the other one rests every half hour for about five minutes. As he rests, he sharpens his axe so that when he continues to cut down the tree, he speeds up even more. So at the end, the guy who rests was faster than the guy who can't take it easy,” he said. I'm just listening to him.

Right, I myself said that sometimes you have to stop to continue but now is not the time to stop. I want to study. I can't waste time.

"But that doesn't apply to everyone. I can't just do that. I needed to continue working for myself and the people around me." I just shrugged.

"But still, you need to look after yourself too. If you can't, I will," he said while smiling at me.

“What do you think? G?” he asked me.

“I still don’t. Just let me think for a while,” I said with a shrug. He just pouted because of that.

"I'll take that, I'll help you," he said when he saw that there were things to lift on the other side of the convenience store.

“No, Indigo, you are a customer here. Just be quiet to one side.” I shook my head before going to the other side but he just smiled broadly at me before lifting them up. I was just shaking my head while staring at him.

"Wait, don't stare at me," he said to me laughing as he walked away.

"I'm embarrassed, I'll probably fall if you look at me that way," he said so I couldn't help but laugh. The large man was embarrassed, he was crazy. The two of us were just laughing when someone came in and threatened him directly.

My lips parted when I saw Jayvee venting his anger to Indigo.

"So this is the reason why you left me, Ingrid!" he shouted loudly at me when he punched Indigo who was smirking but if you look into his eyes, a word will form in your brain. Danger. I felt sorry for him because he was the one affecting this asshole's behavior.

"What is it, Jayvee?" I shouted when he pulled me but before he could do that, Indigo already smirking while walking toward us.

"Please don't you dare make a fuss here," I said to Jayvee because a shelf of food almost fell down. I don't know what will I do if I get fired for what they are doing. I saw Indigo stop and turned to me. His angry face was replaced by concern for me. He didn't realize that Jayvee punched him because the bottle of wine fell down. I was just stunned and didn’t know what to do with the broken wines.

"Is it possible if I punched this guy outside?" Indigo asked me. The next thing that I knew was that they were already out. I don't even know if I should think of them when I already have problems to fix inside the convenience store

I just close my eyes while watching the wines. I want to cry because I don't have money to pay for these. Also, I don't know if I will be able to stay in this job. I know Aling Gloria is kind but I don't know where her kindness can take.

I was in the middle of cleaning up when Indigo and Jayvee came in again. Indigo held him from his collar as he carried him closer. I saw the bruises on Jayvee's face. I can’t help but feel sorry for him even though I’m angry. We’ve been together so no matter what I do, I still can’t help but worry about him.

Maybe at first, I was angry with him but I'll always want to see him happy even if it's not with me.

"I'm sorry, Ingrid," Jayvee said to me.

"I will pay for all that," he said. I just kept staring at him before finally approaching him to treat some bruises on his face.

"Stay still," I said in a cold tone. But not because I'll try to clean his wound, it means I will be back. Nor does it mean that I forgive him. He remained silent. I could feel him watching my movements but I didn’t meet his eyes staring at me. I just remained cold looking at the wounds on his face.

When that was over I stood up but he touched my wrist.

“I miss you damn much. I'm really sorry for everything that I've done. I love you so much, Ingrid,” he said to me so I just removed his grip before smirking at him.

“We’re done. The conversation is long over, ”I coldly said. I can see the sadness in his eyes, the reason why he didn't let me go.

“Why are you so stubborn, Ingrid? Aren’t you really going to forgive me? There is no going on between Sarah and me, everything I do is only for you. To make you jealous, to make you come back to me. Please, Ingrid, come back to me,” he said to me so I couldn't help but laugh before shaking my head. This jerk really knows how to piss me off.

“I don’t really care about you and Sarah, Jayvee. The more you do things like that, the more I will be thankful that you fucking choose to fuck someone else. I loved you. Enough and true,” I said with a smile before rolling my eyes.

“Really? Did you really love me? Why does it seem like you throw everything away in just a second? Now you are already in a relationship with that man!” he said while pointing at Indigo. I only realized that he was still here. He was just watching us. I was distracted by the sight of our eyes meeting. He is here again, watching these embarrassing things.

“Don't pass to me all those nonsense you did. Go fucking away before I kick your ass away from here," I said, trying to calm myself up. I turned my back on him and have no intention of listening to what he said. It's all meaningless, to begin with.

“Before you leave, pay first. Stupid piece of shit,” I heard Indigo say when he chase Jayvee who wanted to walk out. I just fixed the rolled gear before I stood up. I just shook my head when Jayvee really paid.

"What about me?" Indigo asked. He was now standing next to the shelf. Waiting for me to finish what I am doing.

"What about you?" I asked, still frowning at him. He pointed to the bruises on his face. I don’t know why it seems like in an instant the annoyance I was feeling disappeared. I even laughed a little because of him.

"Your ex is really lucky," he said as we sat in a chair here at the convenience store. Fortunately, no customers came.

“Even though you aren’t together, I can still see that you care. I don't really know why he cheated on you when in fact he already has the rarest emerald…” he said to me and smiled.

"I'm not really that good enough," I said, still shrugging my shoulders while treating the wound on the side of his eyebrow.

"Silly, that's not how you're supposed to answer," he told me, slapping me on the forehead. I looked at him and later he looked at me while narrowing his eyes.

“Even if you think you are not good enough, cheating is cheating. It's wrong no matter what angle you look at it,” he told me.

"Now, you should rephrase what you said," he said so I couldn't stop myself from shaking and laughing. I wouldn't have said something again.

“Come on,” he said. He doesn’t really stop until I say so.

“I know right? He's already lucky for me, that idiot even managed to fool me. ” I laughed when he messed up my hair.

"It's over," I said as the small wound was already cleaned.

He also gives the money that was given by Jayvee. I didn't hesitate to accept it, especially since I didn't have the money to pay for it.

I spend my night doing my remaining work. I looked at Indigo when I saw he was still there.

“You don't have to wait for me,” I couldn't help but tell him because he often waited for me to come home before he left.

"I'm not waiting for you, it's just time for me to leave," he said so I just narrowed my eyes at him. He laughed at me because of that. We walked down the road before our paths parted.

"Ingrid," Indigo called to me before I could pass him.

"Hmm?"

"Here," he said as he handed me a pepper spray with a small flashlight. I looked at him because of that.

“I know you'll say you can do it yourself but I still want to give this to you for sure. It's scary to walk late at night,” he said.

"May I ask for your phone number?" he asked me.

"I don't have a cellphone," I said so he just looked at me.

"Seriously," I laughed and was slightly shaking my head. It's expensive, it's better to just spend hundreds of the money I have on needs.

"Fine," he said, still scratching his head.

“See you tomorrow, Ingrid. Good night,” he said, smiling at me before waving. I just smiled at him too before thanking him and continuing to walk.

When I got home I couldn’t help but smile because of the pepper spray he gave me.

Damn. This is already dangerous.
