Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Kate!!! Someone was calling her. She stirred muttering her mom's name but the voice was louder as she drifts back to consciousness to find Lisa calling her name.

She smiled giving her a glass of water. She stared at her for some time and drank the water. ' Lisa can't harm her right? ' she reasoned drinking from the cup sitting up.

" Where's Alvin? And why am I on IV fluids? She asked pulling the line off. Lisa sighed handing her another cup of glucose water.

" Drink, please! " She urged as Kate gulped the water in a hurry

" Now tell me" she demanded touching her aching neck. Alvin drugged her to sleep. She sneered facing Lisa

" Calm down okay? Promise me you'll be calm or I'm not uttering a word" she demanded getting rid of the IV fluids wiping blood from her hands.

Kate could tell she was stalling, whatever she was going to say wasn't good. she inhales and exhales prepared to hear it.

" I'm calm. What hasn't he done to me? I can take it " she bellowed peering into her eyes waiting

" You've been asleep for five days now and there are guards outside the door. What did you do to him this time? " Asked a concerned Lisa who feels sorry for her.

Kate's eye's widened ' five days? She couldn't believe it. Alvin is a devil she cussed standing up from the bed realizing she was in his room.

" Lisa, please I need your help. Don't tell anyone I beg you. Can I use your phone? She asked nervously as Lisa sniffled standing beside her

" He confiscated every worker's phone. I'm sorry Kate. What did you do again? With a hand on her jaw, Kate thought about something searching through Alvin's cabinet.

" What are you looking for if I may ask? Checking other drawers she asked

" Alvin has a burner phone. I think it's somewhere here. " She said with uncertainty as Lisa pointed to tens of drawers.

" We better hurry ." She said eager moving from one drawer to another.

Meanwhile, Alvin wore a smirk on his face watching them go through his things. A burner phone she said. He couldn't believe she recalled him having it. He relaxed on the chair filling his eyes.

It's been an hour since the search yet they found no clue. She drew a stool to his bedside stepping on it to reach a cabinet above his bed. She smiled realizing it was locked. It had a keypad.

" What do we do? It's locked. " Lisa uttered tiredly filling her glass with water and spat it out realizing it was glucose water

" All I have to do is find the password. Let's get started, shall we? You've known him since he was a teenager right? I want to know the names of the most important people in his life. C'mon, we've no time. He'll be home soon" she coerced dialing anything that comes to her mind while Lisa was still thinking trying to recall him loving anyone so dear.

" As odd as it sounds I don't know anyone. I use to think it was Cynthia but he married you instead. So I'm clueless" she tells her as Kate pondered over it dialing her name with different effects, added another then another. She scoffed at herself ' how could you think he values you ' she squinted her eyes trying to remember a moment in time when he was being honest.

Memories after memories envisaged in her mind from the day he met her wooed her, they met again after a month. From the day he professed his love to her to the day he proposed and married her then their honeymoon which resulted in an asthmatic attack she opened her eyes dialing the date and year along with her maiden name. The memory was still fresh. She felt like going back to that moment: to the day he found out she was asthmatic.

It still didn't work then she climbed down throwing her hands in the air indicating she tried then Lisa pointed at it.

" It worked. It worked" they chimed with a high five then she climbed it again emptying the whole box.

Alvin's faced darkened. He was surprised she guessed his password.

" Drive faster." he snapped as his chauffeur obeyed driving in high acceleration.

The safe held lots of documents as she tossed them aside looking for the burner phone then Lisa showed her a copy of their marriage certificate.

" Don't you want it? She shook her head looking for the divorce papers but there were none.

" Maybe it isn't here" Lisa suggested but Kate didn't think so. She sat properly ready to read through his things as footsteps got closer. She panicked gathering them and dumping them inside the safe then locked it.

Alvin entered the room and met her on the bed sleeping while Lisa was brushing her hair. He chuckled softly.

" Leave us " he simply said as Lisa nods evacuating the room heaving a sigh of relief.

" Tell Annette, we're having breakfast in my room" she Bowes casting a last glimpse of Kate before leaving.

He looked around his room which was tidy already and smiled going for a bath.

Kate slowly opened her eyes sighing. The shower was dripping. She hasn't had a bath for five days. She sneered in disgust lying down.

After what seemed like an hour he joined her in bed wrapping his hands around her. Has he been doing this for the past five days? She hissed softly.

" I know you're awake Kate. Stop the pretense' she opened her eyes scooting from him

" I want to go back to my room. Don't make fun of me" she spoke sitting up

" No. Go and have your bath. Dinner is on its way but again you know. " She glared at him and walked to his wardrobe looking for a towel

" It's in the bathroom. Don't take long. I'm not the patient type" he teased as she rolled her eyes trailing to the bathroom.

She wanted to get on his good side before asking after her mother. Disobedience always made her suffer. She decided to lay low for now till she read those documents.

His bathroom was exactly like him: dark and sparkly. She sneered striping out of her clothes for a hot bath. It was going to be a long one she concluded turning the hand shower on.

She didn't imagine missing the feeling of a hot bath till that day then she screamed feeling something on her back.

" I didn't mean to scare you. " He whispers pressing his body on hers

The shock on her face was still there. She looked at him from his head to his toe then up again gulping some saliva.

" What are you doing? Alvin this isn't funny. Please leave" she cooed pointing to the door then he chuckled grabbing her ass

" Don't touch me' she tried disintegrating herself from him which annoyed him

" I'm your husband Kate. Your body is mine. I decide when I want it. Do you understand? He lectured touching everywhere and anywhere he likes

" No, you're not. If you were my husband you wouldn't have had a mistress. Should you crave a woman's body goes to Melody. I don't give a damn. You've never touched me don't start now. " She retorts as he growled pinning her against the marble tiles. She winced from the pain. He didn't give her time to recover from it as he smashed his lips on hers using his hands to steady her head. She discovered fighting against him was futile
