Naomi was officially confirming her suspicions but she didn't expect cynical Cynthia to return. It was a burst for her.

It sure seemed like she was paving the way for her which wasn't good but seeing Kate pathetic and sad made her awkward. So she asked for details. " Care to share what happened?

" Nothing new. He made Cynthia his mistress and I'm his personal maid. Savvy? She said coldly ruffling her hair.

" That sucks. Marriage sucks" she muttered holding her hands warmly " but you'll always have me . I wish I could help" she sniffled looking at her ring finger then smiled wryly.

Dante parked in front of the diner and hurried their way. Kate's sardonic expression turned to one of hatred which had him lowering his head.

Naomi noticed the ambiguity in the air and cleared her throat.

" Is everything alright guys? Kate, you look like you want to murder someone" Kate grabbed her bag and stormed out of the diner in anger.

Dante ran after she held her elbow.

" What have I done? I was worried about you Kate" she yanked his hands off but he held her back then slapped him pointing an index finger at him

" Stay away from me pervert. You're insane Dante" she cussed hanging her bag on her shoulder then he held her back. She settled for a punch this time but he caught it.

" Is this about the live stream? I did it for you. Hell you didn't even ask me about it"

"I thought it was a fucking camera dumb ass. You ruined everything. My life is a mess because of you. Stay the heck away from me" she blamed him unaware of Alvin's real reason for punishing her.

" I didn't mean to. Kate, how was I supposed to know things will get this bad for you? That's why we've to act now. Kate? " He called which had her calming down.

He was right. The footage had nothing to do with Alvin bringing Cynthia into their home. He practically did it to humiliate her. She calmed down to meet his tender worried gaze. It had black circles on it like he hasn't slept for days.

" Alive feed Dante" she emphasized on it as he scratched his head nervously

" I swear I didn't see anything. I'm not a pervert Kate. I swear it " he pleaded to release her hands then led her back to the diner

" How have you been? Is it that tough? She shrugged. Only then did he noticed her weight loss.

She was slim before but not that slim. She lost a lot of weight. They sat in a private box to discuss as Naomi was nowhere to be found.

" What will you like to eat? Are you okay? He asked concerned. She seemed dizzy holding the chairs for support. He gave her an energy drink.

" Thanks. I'm good. Nothing I eat goes down. I've no appetite" she tells him taking a seat.

" Drink more. You need food to stay strong. Don't let him weigh you down. He's not worth your tears. Prove how strong you are. You're not a weakling, you're someone amazing. Someone with potential. Trust me, Kate, this isn't the end " she forces a smile to encourage him then gulped the can of energy drink.

" What now? She asked with weary eyes

" Tell me how you met Alvin Reagan. What made him chose you. Everything" he said " but before that let's get you fed" he teased.

The manager attended to him himself, serving them the best cuisine. They ate quietly then dabbed their mouth.

" It's a long story. It's going to take the whole day and I don't have that time" she felt sad sharing his sudden appearance in her life.

" Then cut the story short. You can trust me. I mean no harm " he persuaded. Kate cleared her throat and leaned back on the chair recalling the day she met Alvin like it was a live show.

" I met him first in Jamaica in a high-class hotel where I was working for three months as a bartender. Part-time only. " Dante leaned back to listen eagerly to hear how the mighty Alvin wooed her.

" That day, my co-worker asked to swap shifts with me as a waitress and I agreed. I served his table and that was it. His eyes were fixed on me boring holes in my head. Anyway, he became a regular then one day, he offered me a drive on a rainy day. I refused his kind gesture and went home. I knew I wasn't in his league. I will be kidding if I wasn't intimidated by his height and aura. I knew he wasn't my type. " She said regretfully refilling a glass of water.

" After much attempts, he gave it a rest then I thought he has given up. I've heard wealthy men do not chase women. One day I received a call that I've been transferred which I declined. I didn't want to leave my sick mother and little brother. To cut the story short. Everything that was difficult for us began to turn around. I thought it was good luck had I known he did it to make me accept the transfer which I did after I learned of the weekly payments and bonuses. " She sniffled fiddling with her palms

" It was hard living in the big city that's when I met Naomi. She took me in as a sister. We used to work in a hotel. She was a manager while I was employed as an event planner. I made quite a name for myself then I met David during an event at the resort. We became close when I planned his father's birthday party. That's when I met Alvin again. " She paused

" After how long? He asked cursing his luck for not finding her earlier

" Two months. I couldn't ignore him as I did before because of David besides he was nicer than anyone I know. Considerate mostly. He had this belief that I was made for great things. Then we became close like really close. Then my mom's sickness deteriorated which had me traveling back home deserting my job. I stayed with her for weeks looking for a solution. Money wasn't the problem though I had little. I could afford it unfortunately she needed a transplant and no donor was found"

" He gave you the money or what? Dante sassed in

" Nope. He did the most selfless thing anyone has ever done for me. He went on a Hunt for a donor which he found within a week. I don't know how he found out or how he did it. I returned to the hospital and found my mom Hale and hearty. She was out of danger and that melted my heart. That was the day I fell in love with him. " She finished sniffling

" He must have been a great actor cos he stole something that I can never have from me. He knows I'm indebted to him. He knows me so well. I guess that's why he's bent on breaking me perhaps for making him chase me. " She added looking at Dante's sullen face

" Wow. He wasn't that bad " he sympathized which amazed Kate

" Oh. He deceived me. He played me for a fool. Now I'm stuck with him " she tells him sarcastically

" I know and when did he reveal his true nature to you?

" I don't want to talk about it. It's upsetting. I've to go" she stood up affected by the long-forgotten story

" I'm sorry Kate. I needed details for the divorce. Can you take a photo of him and his mistresses? That would be solid and one more thing. You can fake a wound too. What do you think? He said slowly

" I can try to take pics. I can't lie in court. "

" You must lie to win this case. Thank God I have the record. I can do something with it. Aren't you tired of living in bondage? Don't you want liberation? Are you going to repay him for the rest of your life? He questioned

" I'll contact you when I get it. He should be home by now. I've to go. Thanks for everything" she stated then walked out of the diner

" Should I drop you off? Dante asked worried about her weight loss

" No, I'm good. I wonder where Naomi went" she said looking around for her.

" Maybe she went home. Take care of yourself, please. Stop thinking about him. About your job. I'm trying to convince Carla but it's not going to be easy" he admits. She smiled opting for other options

" No need. I'll just work somewhere else. Daily Job maybe. I've learned not to be dependant on salary jobs. Don't worry I can take care of myself" she assured him feeling better.

Dante Lorenzo was her guidance angel she was sure of that but he wanted her. Will she be able to love a man again? Or she was just hurt? She would try for his sake.

She shrugged and hailed a taxi while he watched her leave and sighed softly. Now he can sleep properly then again he has a divorce case to pursue.
