Lucy POV

Ivan has been avoiding me this past few days which I'm greatful of. I don't wanna have any argument with anybody in school. I noticed that,he behaves well around other girls but when it comes to me he either scowl or pretend as if he didn't see me. Why am I even disturbing myself  over this thoughts?. That is what I wanted anyways, I want him to avoid me,period.

I groaned.

It makes me wonder if i had done something bad to him coz I don't know why he is treating me like shit. The way he scowls and glares is so getting out of hand.

There was a time when one of our teacher paired us together as partners. Ivan stood up and told her that he can't be my partner. The way he said it made me angry . He behaves as if we are some kind of enemies ,I just don't know what to think again

A thought keeps telling me to avoid him by all means , and that is how its going to be . Sigh

There was also a time we were doing some practical I caught him staring at me but he quickly divert his gaze. That made me confused. Why was he staring ?or is he looking at something behind me? but when I turned ,no one was behind me .I'm just so confuse..

Presently, our teacher entered the class. Abby was seated at the front , we all settle down to listen to what she wanna say.

"Last class I paired you all and some students  were complaining that they don't like their partners. The students who have issues with their partner should clear it up because I'm not changing any partner. This group work carries 100 mark. Its either you settle your differences so as to pass or you fail" she said .

God, so I have to do this assignment with Ivan? he is my partner. Why me..

I don't know how to even start up a conversation with him. I turn to see his reaction but I saw non. He sat comfortable. I just have to be brave b'cos I don't want to loose 100mark. I will suck it up and approach him after the class. Abby turned  and mouth "don't worry"

" class, today we'll be talking on....." Our teacher continue the class and we all listen attentively.

Few minutes later, it was time for break. People ran out while I stayed in class just b'cos I have to talk to Ivan about the assignment.

I saw Ivan going out so I called him. He turn to glared at me.

" what do you want'?" he asked

"What to you mean by 'what do I want'.. Look I don't want to be your partner either but since our teacher said she wouldn't change partners,its better you put your hatred for me aside. I don't want to be your friend and I know you don't want to either. I only want us to have a mutual understanding for this project ,period" how  I got the courage to say all this is still  unknown to me.

When he digest what I said. Then he said:

"Okay then" he said . Thank goodness, I don't know what to do if he doesn't agree.

" Alright where should we meet after school to start the group work?" I ask keeping a straight face.

He stopped the glaring and kept a straight face too.Well that is okay for now.

" I don't know if you're gonna like the idea of doing the assignment at my house its not far from  school "

" Oh Okay, where are you leaving ?"

" Around Florence plaza, lekki?

" oh, I know that place. When I get to the plaza, I'll call you to come pick me up. "

" OK fine. What time are you coming? " asked ivan

" 4:00 is fine with me"

"Okay sure. I'm OK with that" he said

He was about to leave so I stopped him by calling his name again

" what? " asked Ivan confused at why I called him back.

" I don't have your number. I mean how am I going to call you when I get to the plaza "

A look of understanding showed on his face so he brought out his iPhone from his trouser's pocket. He waited for me to bring out a pen and paper from my bag before calling the number out for me.

" Thanks" I said while he nodded

After our conversation, he left .I released the breath I don't even know i was holding .I went outside to meet Abby who was waiting for me.

"How did it go" she curiously asked .

"It went well. We'll try to develop some mutual understanding between us for the project" I said smiling.

"Wow that's cool"

"Yeah"

My shift at Collins special is tomorrow. It almost time for the meeting on the group assignment. I need to be fast, i have less than 30 minutes to get ready.

After school today I followed Abby home since she leaves close to Florence Plaza, it'll be more faster from her house.

"You need to rub some powder and mascara at least" Abby insisted.

it just an assignment meeting for crying out loud ,but instead she is making it look as if I'm going on a date. Even if I was going on a date I don't stress myself too much just to apply makeup.

"Abby my face is okay like this. Please its just Ivan not someone important, even if I wanna dress for someone its not someone like Ivan. I'm not one of his fan girls, not to talk of dating him" I said with a scowl.

"0kay if you say so" she pouted.

I  straighten my dress at least to look presentable. Abby was my ride to the plaza.

On reaching the plaza, I called Ivan to come pick me up.

IVAN

" who was on the phone" Emilia asked immediately I ended the call. She was sprawled on the floor with her phone in hand.

" a classmate of mine"

" A boy or a girl? " she asked wiggling her brow. I know she wanted it to be a girl.

" a girl and don't even try to pulloff any stunts coz I'm going to have your head for that" she wasn't even scared at my empty threats.

" so tell me, is she your girlfriend? Coz I've waited long to know her"

I glared at her " she is just a classmate and nothing else. We are only meeting coz we were given a group assignment "

Her face fell " oh and here I thought she is your girlfriend coz this is the first time you're bringing a girl over here"

" you can talk for Africa, Emilia. I need to go so bye"

LUCY

I waited for him outside the plaza. I thought he said his house isn't far from this plaza so what's keeping him waiting? He is already 15 minutes late. Ivan where the hell are you ?

Few minutes later, I saw him  swaggering to the plaza. At last he is already here, he was looking around as if trying to find someone.when his eyes land on me he made his way towards me.

He wore a blue bottom up shirt with white stripes and a black trouser. He look handsome as always. Today he isn't glaring at me .

"Sorry for keeping you waiting " he apologized

wow ! so the almighty Ivan is sorry for coming late, well that is a good start.

"Since you're already here no problem" .He just nod his head.

" OK, let's walk to my house. It around the corner over there" he pointed at the direction and together we quietly walk to his house.
