Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Madison POV

I stepped out of the kitchen with a hot cup of coffee in my hand as I strolled to my couch to take a seat. I placed my cup gently on the glass table before me then sat on the soft comfy couch with both of my legs on the couch and my coffee in my hand.

Krystal and I went separate ways last night. She was so terrified after hearing what I told her. Yes, I told her the full details about Kingsley and she wasn’t just scared of him but mad that he was the one that actually shot Zach. Up till now, I am also mad.

Zach and I didn’t see last night, I left the hospital immediately after work. I wasn’t stopped by either of his men.

In as much as I tried not to think of Krystal said about Zach, I still thought of it.

Yes, I haven’t given him a chance to explain because I am scared of being hurt again. I can’t even tell my cousin about it because he has already told me to cut ties with him.

I have been expecting text messages or calls from anyone but since last night, I haven't gotten any. Not even from Zach, maybe he understands now what I mean by ‘space’.

Zach POV

I was discharged from the hospital last night and to be honest, it pains me a lot that Madison wasn’t there with me.

She already broke her promise and seems she doesn’t care about it. I clearly understand she is misunderstanding the whole thing.

I feel better and it feels great to be but, I feel like a part of me is missing and that’s Madison.

Since she chose to leave, I’d honor her request but that doesn’t mean I am letting go of her, never.

I’d go after her later, right now…. its business.

Greg and his men already caused us so much trouble so henceforth, I will just need to pay more attention to the things of the organization.

I stepped out of my room and bumped into Liam, “Oh, good morning boss.” He bowed his head lowly in greetings.

“Hey, man what's up?” I replied as we took our steps together down the hall.

“Nothing much. How about you? How are things going on with you and Dr. Madison?” he asks and I sighed.

“Now you care about her huh?”

“Madison is focusing on her job. And likewise, I am doing same buddy.” I replied as I tapped his shoulder then walked away.

“So, now we would be putting love and relationship aside.” I added even though it hurts me so much to say it. The craziest thing is I still have my eyes on her, even though she is trying to push me away, I still need to protect her for her own safety.

Madison POV

After having a nice breakfast, I headed to my room to dress up and prepare for the day.

I spoke to Krystal earlier, she said she would be coming over to my place so we will leave together for work.

I stepped out of my room after dressing up in a white blouse on a white suit pants. I took my phone and my handbag in my hands as I strolled down the stairs with my heels clicking on the marble tiles. I am far better than that skank yesterday in the hospital.

This is my house.

I walked to the living room and in less than a minute, I heard a knock on the door.

That could possibly be Krystal.

“Hey, its open!” I said aloud but there was no response. I sighed and kept down my bag on the center table to get the door, “I am sorry, I thought the door was actually open.” I laughed lowly as I turned back the keys and twisted the door knob open only to see Kingsley standing before me.

The smile on my face vanished immediately as I grabbed the door, stopping it from opening further then slammed it back on his face but he placed his hands on the door, stopping it from happening.

“What!” I yelled out and he invites himself into my house.

“Madison…”

“Could you please stop showing up in my house?” I demanded as I stood in akimbo and carved my brows at him.

“I will not stop until you listen to me!” he retorted and I flip my hair behind.

“Okay, what is there to listen to? From you? Please Kingsley, I’d sincerely appreciate if you stop showing up in my house. I do not like it at all” I sighed

“And where are you going?” he asked as he tucked his hands into his pocket.

“I find your question interesting, are you planning on stopping me?” I laughed but he said nothing.

“Madison, you hate me already? I can’t let that happen so could you please stop speaking to me this way? It really hurts.” He said lowly and I laugh out

“Look at you, can you even hear yourself?”

“Look, Kingsley I don’t want to talk to you or say anything regards what we’ve already spoken about hmm?” I asked with a fake smile and he stands looking blankly at me

“As you can see, Madison is preparing for the days’ work and Krystal would be here soon.” I said as I turned around and walked to my bag to pick it up from where I left it.

“You could be this cold?” he asked lowly with a laugh

“You brought this other side of me out. No more questions, could you leave now…I am still being soft.” I sighed as I crossed my arms and pulled them close to my chest.

“I actually came to__” his statement was interrupted by a voice from behind.

“Hey miss, you have guest at home and you left your door this open?” Krystal asked and I sighed

“I guess a guest is the best word to use to describe him,” I said with no facial expression on my face.

“Kingsley?” she asked

“Yes, let’s get of here now.” I said and walk to the door pulling Krystal with me out of the house. Kingsley ran out of the house and followed us behind. In less than a minute, he was standing before us.

“What is it? What else do you want?” Krystal asked him

“She knows already?” he asked me with a wide eye. I rolled my eyes at him then clicked my tongue. “When I said she is my only family, do you expect me to hide things from her?” I scoffed

“She is not you.” Krystal continued and I shrugged.

Still standing before him, I sighted a black fancy car drive past my house. The men in the car had their eyes on me till they drove away, I have no idea of who they are. Just then, I heard a clicking sound from a distance I can’t tell, I turned around immediately and saw no one standing.

Krystal and Kingsley were still arguing, seems like I was the only one that heard it.

I took my lower lips into my mouth then turned away only to hear several shuttering sounds, again.
