Chapter 23: Chapter 23

Maive POV's

That night, I fell asleep from crying. I missed Aunt Vera and Uncle Silas... I wanted to go home that night... back to our village. I could live there with Aunt and Uncle peacefully, not in this fucked up place.

A place full of werewolves.

With that in mind, even after waking up from a long sleep, I decided to show up at the university. I wanted to talk to the administrator to transfer me to another school. However, due to the busy schedule of the administrator, I was instructed to meet her later in the afternoon.

I attended my classes with a little dismay of not executing my plan as I wanted it to be. Anne and Gabriela waved their hands as soon as they saw me entering the room for our first class. I only smiled at them before sitting next to them.

"Still not in a mood?" Anne asked with worry.

I sighed. "This place is not for me," I stated with full honesty.

Both of them stared at me. "It's only your second day, Maive," Gabriella said as if I'm going to enjoy things here when time passes by.

I shook my head, refusing that ideology. There's nothing to enjoy in this place full of wolves. I sighed and leaned on my chair as I looked at the window glass near me.

"Bro, have you seen the body?"

"They are juniors, right?"

Body? Juniors? Those words made me look at the group of guys who just came in.

The room began to be filled with noises. Soon after, some of them began to leave the room in a rush as if something bad had happened outside. Anne and Gabriela, who were filled with curiosity, also left the room as they pulled me with them.

I was curious too and so I let them drag me.

"It must be something serious." Anne stated in conclusion.

"Probably Anne." Gabriella seconded and I was silent.

As soon as we got out of the building, a large crowd was outside. After finding a spot to see what the crowd and noises were all about, I gasped, putting my hands to cover my mouth at the sight of five men being exposed lifeless on the ground. Their clothes were filled with blood and surely, they were brutally killed.

Anne and Gabriela gasped too in fear. However, I was speechless and glued to my spot as my heart raced so fast in terror. I couldn't last watching them but I couldn't move my feet.

Who could have done this terrible thing?

"Aren't they the group who tried to harm you yesterday?" Anne whispered to me with curiosity.

It was only then I realized that it was that group. I bit my lip at the sight of them being dead. They were brutally killed if I am to be precise. The one who slapped me yesterday had lost his fingers.

It was brutally cut. My body shivered and weakened as if at any moment I was going to fall on my knees.

W-Who did this?

It is impossible that Tobias, who's very protective of me, could do such things. I am sure that he didn't do this but who?

"That group has a lot of crimes," said a guy in front of me. His peers agreed with him as if this group deserved death.

"Don't you have any classes?!" A middle-aged woman, who looked like a professor, exclaimed in anger.

With that, the students immediately left the place and we did too.

The three of us were silent as we got back to our room. Now that I think of it, the students were not shocked by dead bodies. Some of them were actually thrilled and most of them were just curious. No one seems to be shocked at that sight except me.

"What's your family again, Maive?" Anne asked as soon as we sat in our chairs.

My brows crossed with that question. "How is that relevant?" I asked.

She shook her head, "I just wondered... they tried to harm you yesterday and..." a long pause after that.

"I have nothing to do with their death," I said as I waved my hand from dismissal.

She nodded, believing what I had said. "Your family?"

"I don't have a family. Just an old couple has tried to raise me." I answered.

"It must be from their other crimes. We've heard that they are really into trouble." Gabriella stated.

We all nodded. "Probably."

Still, I am confused why they seemed to be not shocked by the dead bodies on the school grounds. Did it happen a lot?

I bit my lip. My thoughts wander again. How high is the coincidence that the persons who tried to harm me have gone dead now? But no one would ever do that for me and no one knows about it but Anne and Gabriella. Even Tobias has no idea about that incident and who caused it.

Yeah, it probably is a coincidence.

The classes went as if nothing happened. The professors and even students did not seem to be bothered by the incident inside the school grounds. There was no gossip or talks about it. It was as if they were used to that kind of sight. Everyone seemed to not care and I am still confused.

Is crime just a normal incident in this University? Don't they try to find justice? And know who killed those students?

Damn, this place is scary, if I die in this place I think no one would try to find justice. It is just right that I will transfer to another school.

"Write your names on the paper, it will serve as your attendance." An old man who is our professor for today stated.

He, then, gave a piece of paper in front of the class which was then passed from one to another. He introduced his name earlier. If my mind is still clear, he mentioned calling him Sir Alejo.

He seemed to be not intimidating.

As soon as we got the paper, we wrote down our names. It will be the last day that my name will be known in this university. I will leave for home later once everything is settled with the administrator.

Since our seats are in the last row, I was the one who gave the paper back to our professor and sat down after that.

"Miss... Underwood?" Sir Alejo called my name which made me lift up my gaze in front.

I slightly raised my left hand, not sure how to respond to him calling my family name. Anne and Gabriela both looked at our professor, with also a hint of curiosity on their expression.

He looked at me, fixing his eyeglasses. "How are you related to Mr. Zoren Underwood?"

My mouth hung open the moment he said my father's name and now, I think I found a reason to stay in this scary place, Astrid University.
